Dua's for the Month of Shaaban - Invocation of Shabaniyah

It is recommended to say the following whispered prayer (mun�j�t) that has been narrated by Ibn Kh�lawayh who commented on it, saying, �This is the confidential prayer of Imam `Al� Am�r al-Mu'min�n and the Holy Imams (a.s.) who used to recite it in the month of Shaban.� It is advisable to recite it with presence of heart all the time.

O Allah, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,	all�humma �alli `al� mu�ammadin wa �li mu�ammadin	اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
You listen to my prayer whenever I pray,	wasma` du`�'� idh� da`awtuka	وَٱسْمَعْ دُعَائِي إِذَا دَعَوْتُكَ
listen to my call whenever I call upon you,	wasma` nid�'� idh� n�daytuka	وَٱسْمَعْ نِدَائِي إِذَا نَادَيْتُكَ
and accept from me whenever I confidentially whisper to You,	wa aqbil `alayya idh� n�jaytuka	وَاقْبِلْ عَلَيَّ إِذَا نَاجَيْتُكَ
for here I am fleeing in to You,	faqad harabtu ilayka	فَقَدْ هَرَبْتُ إِلَيْكَ
standing before You, showing submission to You,	wa waqaftu bayna yadayka mustak�nan laka	وَوَقَفْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ مُسْتَكِيناً لَكَ
imploring You,	muta�arri`an ilayka	مُتَضَرِّعاً إِلَيْكَ
and hoping for the reward that You have.	r�jiyan lim� ladayka thaw�b�	رَاجِياً لِمَا لَدَيْكَ ثَوَابِي
You know what is in my inner self,	wa ta`lamu m� f� nafs�	وَتَعْلَمُ مَا فِي نَفْسِي
recognize my needs,	wa takhburu ��jat�	وَتَخْبُرُ حَاجَتِي
recognize my hidden affairs,	wa ta`rifu �am�r�	وَتَعْرِفُ ضَمِيرِي
and all my moves and stillness are known by You.	wa l� yakhf� `alayka amru munqalab� wa mathw�ya	وَلاَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْكَ امْرُ مُنْقَلَبِي وَمَثْوَايَ
So are all the utterances which I want to begin with,	wa m� ur�du an ubdi'a bih� min man�iq�	وَمَا ارِيدُ انْ ابْدِئَ بِهِ مِنْ مَنْطِقِي
all the requests that I want to express,	wa atafawwaha bih� min �alibat�	وَاتَفَوَّهَ بِهِ مِنْ طَلِبَتِي
and all the expectation that I hope for my future.	wa arj�hu li`�qibat�	وَارْجُوهُ لِعَاقِبَتِي
All that which You, O my Master, have decided for me	wa qad jarat maq�d�ruka `alayya y� sayyid�	وَقَدْ جَرَتْ مَقَادِيرُكَ عَلَيَّ يَا سَيِّدِي
up to the end of my life,	f�m� yak�nu minn� il� �khiri `umr�	فِيمَا يَكُونُ مِنِّي إِلَىٰ آخِرِ عُمْرِي
including my secret and open matters, shall be experienced by me.	min sar�rat� wa `al�niyat�	مِنْ سَرِيرَتِي وَعَلانِيَتِي
And it is in Your hand, not anybody else�s, that are all increase and decrease,	wa biyadika l� biyadi ghayrika ziy�dat� wa naq��	وَبِيَدِكَ لاَ بِيَدِ غَيْرِكَ زِيَادَتِي وَنَقْصِي
and all my benefits and harms that come upon me.	wa naf`� wa �arr�	وَنَفْعِي وَضَرِّي
O my God, if You deprive me (of Your sustenance), then who else can ever provide me with sustenance?	il�h� in �aramtan� faman dh� alladh� yarzuqun�	إِلٰهِي إِنْ حَرَمْتَنِي فَمَنْ ذَا ٱلَّذِي يَرْزُقُنِي
If You disappoint me, then who else can ever back me?	wa in khadhaltan� faman dh� alladh� yan�urun�	وَإِنْ خَذَلْتَنِي فَمَنْ ذَا ٱلَّذِي يَنْصُرُنِي
O my God, I do seek Your protection against Your wrath and against the befalling of Your ire upon me.	il�h� a`�dhu bika min gha�abika wa �ul�li sakha�ika	إِلٰهِي اعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ وَحُلُولِ سَخَطِكَ
O my God, if I do not deserve Your mercy,	il�h� in kuntu ghayra musta'hilin lira�matika	إِلٰهِي إِنْ كُنْتُ غَيْرَ مُسْتَاهِلٍ لِرَحْمَتِكَ
You are still expected to confer upon me with Your expansive favor.	fa-anta ahlun an taj�da `alayya bifa�li sa`atika	فَانْتَ اهْلٌ انْ تَجُودَ عَلَيَّ بِفَضْلِ سَعَتِكَ
O my God, I now imagine how I will stand before You,	il�h� ka-ann� binafs� w�qifatun bayna yadayka	إِلٰهِي كَانِّي بِنَفْسِي وَاقِفَةٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ
shaded by my good idea about You on account of my trust in You,	wa qad a�allah� �usnu tawakkul� `alayka	وَقَدْ اظَلَّهَا حُسْنُ تَوَكُّلِي عَلَيْكَ
and You will decide for me that which befit You and You will include me with Your forgiveness.	faqulta m� anta ahluh� wa taghammadtan� bi`afwika	فَقُلْتَ مَا انْتَ اهْلُهُ وَتَغَمَّدْتَنِي بِعَفْوِكَ
O my God, if you pardon me, then who else is worthier than You are in pardoning.	il�h� in `afawta faman awl� minka bidh�lika	إِلٰهِي إِنْ عَفَوْتَ فَمَنْ اوْلَىٰ مِنْكَ بِذٰلِكَ
If my time of death is approaching while my deeds are still too short to approach me to You,	wa in k�na qad dan� ajal� wa lam yudnin� minka `amal�	وَإِنْ كَانَ قَدْ دَنَا اجَلِي وَلَمْ يُدْنِنِي مِنْكَ عَمَلِي
I am then considering my confession of being guilty to be my means towards You.	faqad ja`altu al-iqr�ra bildhdhanbi ilayka was�lat�	فَقَدْ جَعَلْتُ ٱلإِقْرَارَ بِٱلذَّنْبِ إِلَيْكَ وَسِيلَتِي
O my God, I have wronged myself when I allowed myself to behave unrestrainedly;	il�h� qad jurtu `al� nafs� f� alnna�ari lah�	إِلٰهِي قَدْ جُرْتُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي فِي ٱلنَّظَرِ لَهَا
therefore, woe will betide me if You do not forgive.	falah� alwaylu in lam taghfir lah�	فَلَهَا ٱلْوَيْلُ إِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَهَا
O my God, You have never ceased Your favors from me all my lifetime;	il�h� lam yazal birruka `alayya ayy�ma �ay�t�	إِلٰهِي لَمْ يَزَلْ بِرُّكَ عَلَيَّ ايَّامَ حَيَاتِي
so, (please) do not stop Your favors from covering me after my death.	fal� taq�a` birraka `ann� f� mam�t�	فَلاَ تَقْطَعْ بِرَّكَ عَنِّي فِي مَمَاتِي
O my God, how can I despair of Your nice custody over me after my death	il�h� kayfa �yasu min �usni na�arika l� ba`da mam�t�	إِلٰهِي كَيفَ آيَسُ مِنْ حُسْنِ نَظَرِكَ لِي بَعْدَ مَمَاتِي
while You have not shown me but the good throughout my lifetime?	wa anta lam tuwallin� ill� aljam�la f� �ay�t�	وَانْتَ لَمْ تُوَلِّنِي إِلاَّ ٱلْجَمِيلَ فِي حَيَاتِي
O my God, (please) manage my affairs in the very way that befits You,	il�h� tawalla min amr� m� anta ahluh�	إِلٰهِي تَوَلَّ مِنْ امْرِي مَا انْتَ اهْلُهُ
and confer upon me�a sinful person who is covered by his ignorance�with Your favors.	wa `ud `alayya bifa�lika `al� mudhnibin qad ghamarah� jahluh�	وَعُدْ عَلَيَّ بِفَضْلِكَ عَلَىٰ مُذْنِبٍ قَدْ غَمَرَهُ جَهْلُهُ
O my God, You have concealed my sins in my worldly life,	il�h� qad satarta `alayya dhun�ban f� aldduny�	إِلٰهِي قَدْ سَتَرْتَ عَلَيَّ ذُنُوباً فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا
but I need Your concealment more urgently in the Next Life.	wa an� a�waju il� satrih� `alayya minka f� al-ukhr�	وَانَا احْوَجُ إِلَىٰ سَتْرِهَا عَلَيَّ مِنْكَ فِي ٱلاخْرَىٰ
You have thus not disclosed my sins before any of Your righteous servants;	idh lam tu�hirh� li-a�adin min `ib�dika al��li��na	إِذْ لَمْ تُظْهِرْهَا لاحَدٍ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ ٱلصَّالِحِينَ
therefore, (please) do not expose me on the Resurrection Day before all the witnesses.	fal� taf�a�n� yawma alqiy�mati `al� ru'�si al-ashh�di	فَلاَ تَفْضَحْنِي يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَامَةِ عَلَىٰ رُؤُوسِ ٱلاشْهَادِ
O my God, it is Your magnanimity that expanded my hope,	il�h� j�duka basa�a amal�	إِلٰهِي جُودُكَ بَسَطَ امَلِي
and surely Your pardon is more preferable than my deeds.	wa `afwuka af�alu min `amal�	وَعَفْوُكَ افْضَلُ مِنْ عَمَلِي
O my God, so (please) delight me when I meet You on the day when You shall judge between Your servants.	il�h� fasurran� biliq�'ika yawma taq�� f�hi bayna `ib�dika	إِلٰهِي فَسُرَّنِي بِلِقَائِكَ يَوْمَ تَقْضِي فِيهِ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ
O my God, I submit to You the apology of one who cannot dispense with the acceptance of his excuse;	il�h� i`tidh�r� ilayka i`tidh�ru man lam yastaghni `an qab�li `udhrih�	إِلٰهِي ٱعْتِذَارِي إِلَيْكَ ٱعْتِذَارُ مَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَغْنِ عَنْ قَبُولِ عُذْرِهِ
so, (please) accept my excuse, O most Magnanimous of all those before whom the guilty make an apology.	faqbal `udhr� y� akrama man i`tadhara ilayhi almus�'�na	فَٱقْبَلْ عُذْرِي يَا اكْرَمَ مَنِ ٱعْتَذَرَ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْمُسِيئُونَ
O my God, (please) do not reject my request,	il�h� l� tarudda ��jat�	إِلٰهِي لاَ تَرُدَّ حَاجَتِي
do not fail my big hope for You,	wa l� tukhayyib �ama`�	وَلاَ تُخَيِّبْ طَمَعِي
and do not disappoint my desire and expectation for You.	wa l� taq�a` minka raj�'� wa amal�	وَلاَ تَقْطَعْ مِنْكَ رَجَائِي وَامَلِي
O my God, had You wanted to humiliate me, You would not have guided me (to You).	il�h� law aradta haw�n� lam tahdin�	إِلٰهِي لَوْ ارَدْتَ هَوَانِي لَمْ تَهْدِنِي
Had You decided to disclose me, You would not have saved me.	wa law aradta fa��at� lam tu`�fin�	وَلَوْ ارَدْتَ فَضِيحَتِي لَمْ تُعَافِنِي
O my God, I do not expect You to reject my request that I spent my whole lifetime asking for it from You.	il�h� m� a�unnuka taruddun� f� ��jatin qad afnaytu `umr� f� �alabih� minka	إِلٰهِي مَا اظُنُّكَ تَرُدُّنِي فِي حَاجَةٍ قَدْ افْنَيْتُ عُمْرِي فِي طَلَبِهَا مِنْكَ
O my God, all praise be to You, forever, forever, perpetually, everlastingly,	il�h� falaka al�amdu abadan abadan d�'iman sarmadan	إِلٰهِي فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ ابَداً ابَداً دَائِماً سَرْمَداً
increasingly, and imperishably, as exactly as You like and please.	yaz�du wa l� yab�du kam� tu�ibbu wa tar��	يَزِيدُ وَلاَ يَبِيدُ كَمَا تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضَىٰ
O my God, if You punish me for my offense, I shall demand with Your pardon,	il�h� in akhadhtan� bijurm� akhadhtuka bi`afwika	إِلٰهِي إِنْ اخَذْتَنِي بِجُرْمِي اخَذْتُكَ بِعَفْوِكَ
if You punish me for my sins, I shall demand with Your forgiveness,	wa in akhadhtan� bidhun�b� akhadhtuka bimaghfiratika	وَإِنْ اخَذْتَنِي بِذُنُوبِي اخَذْتُكَ بِمَغْفِرَتِكَ
and if You decide to send me to Hell, I shall declare to its inhabitants that I love You.	wa in adkhaltan� alnn�ra a`lamtu ahlah� ann� u�ibbuka	وَإِنْ ادْخَلْتَنِي ٱلنَّارَ اعْلَمْتُ اهْلَهَا انِّي احِبُّكَ
O my God, if my deed is too little when compared to the true obedience to You,	il�h� in k�na �aghura f� janbi ��`atika `amal�	إِلٰهِي إِنْ كَانَ صَغُرَ فِي جَنْبِ طَاعَتِكَ عَمَلِي
then my hope for You is too big when compared to my prospect from You.	faqad kabura f� janbi raj�'ika amal�	فَقَدْ كَبُرَ فِي جَنْبِ رَجَائِكَ امَلِي
O my God, how can it be that I return from You with disappointment and deprivation	il�h� kayfa anqalibu min `indika bilkhaybati ma�r�man	إِلٰهِي كَيْفَ انْقَلِبُ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ بِٱلْخَيْبَةِ مَحْرُوماً
while I expect, depending upon Your magnanimity, that You will endow me with safety and mercy?	wa qad k�na �usnu �ann� bij�dika an taqliban� bilnnajati mar��man	وَقَدْ كَانَ حُسْنُ ظَنِّي بِجُودِكَ انْ تَقْلِبَنِي بِٱلنَّجَاةِ مَرْحُوماً
O my God, I have spent my whole lifetime with the vigor of being negligent to You	il�h� wa qad afnaytu `umr� f� shirrati alssahwi `anka	إِلٰهِي وَقَدْ افْنَيْتُ عُمْرِي فِي شِرَّةِ ٱلسَّهْوِ عَنْكَ
and I have spent my whole youth with the inebriety of being far away from You.	wa ablaytu shab�b� f� sakrati alttab�`udi minka	وَابْلَيْتُ شَبَابِي فِي سَكْرَةِ ٱلتَّبَاعُدِ مِنْكَ
O my God, I have not thus woken up to myself during the period when I seductively felt safe from Your punishment	il�h� falam astayqi� ayy�ma ightir�r� bika	إِلٰهِي فَلَمْ اسْتَيْقِظْ ايَّامَ ٱغْتِرَارِي بِكَ
and when I was taking the path that ends with Your ire.	wa ruk�n� il� sab�li sakha�ika	وَرُكُونِي إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ سَخَطِكَ
O my God, nevertheless, I am�Your servant and the son of Your servant�now standing before You	il�h� wa an� `abduka wabnu `abdika q�'imun bayna yadayka	إِلٰهِي وَانَا عَبْدُكَ وَٱبْنُ عَبْدِكَ قَائِمٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ
and begging You in the name of Your generosity.	mutawassilun bikaramika ilayka	مُتَوَسِّلٌ بِكَرَمِكَ إِلَيْكَ
O my God, I am, being Your servant, disowning all that with which I used to face You;	il�h� an� `abdun atana��alu ilayka mimm� kuntu uw�jihuka bih�	إِلٰهِي انَا عَبْدٌ اتَنَصَّلُ إِلَيْكَ مِمَّا كُنْتُ اوَاجِهُكَ بِهِ
namely, my shameless inconsideration of You,	min qillati isti�y�'� min na�arika	مِنْ قِلَّةِ ٱسْتِحْيَائِي مِنْ نَظَرِكَ
and I am hereby appealing for Your pardon since pardon is one feature of Your generosity.	wa a�lubu al`afwa minka idh al`afwu na`tun likaramika	وَاطْلُبُ ٱلْعَفْوَ مِنْكَ إِذ ِٱلْعَفْوُ نَعْتٌ لِكَرَمِكَ
O my God, I had no strength by which I would rid myself of the acts of disobedience to You	il�h� lam yakun l� �awlun fa-antaqila bih� `an ma`�iyatika	إِلٰهِي لَمْ يَكُنْ لِي حَوْلٌ فَانْتَقِلَ بِهِ عَنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ
except after You aroused me to love You.	ill� f� waqtin ayqa�tan� lima�abbatika	إِلاَّ فِي وَقْتٍ ايْقَظْتَنِي لَِمحَبَّتِكَ
Hence, I have become as exactly as You want me to be.	wa kam� aradta an ak�na kuntu	وَكَمَا ارَدْتَ انْ اكُونَ كُنْتُ
I have thus thanked You, for You have included me with Your generosity	fashakartuka bi-idkh�l� f� karamika	فَشَكَرْتُكَ بِإِدْخَالِي فِي كَرَمِكَ
and You have purified my heart from the filths of being inattentive to You.	wa lita�h�ri qalb� min aws�khi alghaflati `anka	وَلِتَطْهِيرِ قَلْبِي مِنْ اوْسَاخِ ٱلْغَفْلَةِ عَنْكَ
O my God, (please) look at me in the same way as You have looked at one whom You called and he has responded to You	il�h� un�ur ilayya na�ara man n�daytah� fa-aj�baka	إِلٰهِي ٱنْظُرْ إِلَيَّ نَظَرَ مَنْ نَادَيْتَهُ فَاجَابَكَ
and whom You have conferred with Your aid and he thus has obeyed You.	wasta`maltah� bima`�natika fa-a��`aka	وَٱسْتَعْمَلْتَهُ بِمَعُونَتِكَ فَاطَاعَكَ
O He Who is too close to depart from one who is inadvertent to Him!	y� qar�ban l� yab`udu `an almughtarri bih�	يَا قَرِيباً لاَ يَبْعُدُ عَنِ ٱلْمُغْتَرِّ بِهِ
O He Who is too magnanimous to deprive one who hopes for His reward!	wa y� jaw�dan l� yabkhalu `amman raj� thaw�bah�	وَيَا جَوَاداً لاَ يَبْخَلُ عَمَّنْ رَجَا ثَوَابَهُ
O my God, (please) grant me a heart whose longing for You will approach it to You,	il�h� hab l� qalban yudn�hi minka shawquh�	إِلٰهِي هَبْ لِي قَلْباً يُدْنِيهِ مِنْكَ شَوْقُهُ
a tongue whose truthfulness is directed to You,	wa lis�nan yurfa`u ilayka �idquh�	وَلِسَاناً يُرْفَعُ إِلَيْكَ صِدْقُهُ
and a sight whose righteousness advances towards You.	wa na�aran yuqarribuh� minka �aqquh�	وَنَظَراً يُقَرِّبُهُ مِنْكَ حَقُّهُ
O my God, he who recognizes You shall never be anonymous,	il�h� inna man ta`arrafa bika ghayru majh�lin	إِلٰهِي إِنَّ مَنْ تَعَرَّفَ بِكَ غَيْرُ مَجْهُولٍ
he who seeks Your shelter shall never be disappointed,	wa man l�dha bika ghayru makhdh�lin	وَمَنْ لاَذَ بِكَ غَيْرُ مَخْذُولٍ
and he whom is attended by You shall never be boring.	wa man aqbalta `alayhi ghayru maml�lin	وَمَنْ اقْبَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ غَيْرُ مَمْلُولٍ
O my God, he who abides by Your Path shall be enlightened,	il�h� inna man intahaja bika lamustan�run	إِلٰهِي إِنَّ مَنِ ٱنْتَهَجَ بِكَ لَمُسْتَنِيرٌ
and he who resorts to You shall be succored.	wa inna man i`ta�ama bika lamustaj�run	وَإِنَّ مَنِ ٱعْتَصَمَ بِكَ لَمُسْتَجِيرٌ
I am thus having recourse to You, O my God! So, (please) do not disappoint me as regards Your having mercy upon me	wa qad ludhtu bika y� il�h� fal� tukhayyib �ann� min ra�matika	وَقَدْ لُذْتُ بِكَ يَا إِلٰهِي فَلاَ تُخَيِّبْ ظَنِّي مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ
and do not divest me of Your kindness.	wa l� ta�jubn� `an ra'fatika	وَلاَ تَحْجُبْنِي عَنْ رَافَتِكَ
O my God, grant me, among those who show servitude to You,	il�h� aqimn� f� ahli wil�yatika	إِلٰهِي اقِمْنِي فِي اهْلِ وِلايَتِكَ
the position of one who (incessantly) longs for more love for You.	muq�ma man raj� alzziy�data min ma�abbatika	مُقَامَ مَنْ رَجَا ٱلزِّيَادَةَ مِنْ مَحَبَّتِكَ
O my God, (please) inspire me with passionate love for ceaseless reference to You,	il�h� wa alhimn� walahan bidhikrika il� dhikrika	إِلٰهِي وَالْهِمْنِي وَلَهاً بِذِكْرِكَ إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِكَ
and (please) devote all my pursuit to my attaining the delight of the success that is achieved through Your names and the amount of Your Holiness.	wa himmat� f� raw�i naj��i asm�'ika wa ma�alli qudsika	وَهِمَّتِي فِي رَوْحِ نَجَاحِ اسْمَائِكَ وَمَحَلِّ قُدْسِكَ
O my God, I beseech You in Your name to put me in the position of those who are obedient to You	il�h� bika `alayka ill� al�aqtan� bima�alli ahli ��`atika	إِلٰهِي بِكَ عَلَيْكَ إِلاَّ الْحَقْتَنِي بِمَحَلِّ اهْلِ طَاعَتِكَ
and in an honorable standing of Your pleasure,	walmathw� al��li�i min mar��tika	وَٱلْمَثْوَىٰ ٱلصَّالِحِ مِنْ مَرْضَاتِكَ
for I, verily, have no power to rescue	fa'inn� l� aqdiru linafs� daf`an	فَإِنِّي لاَ اقْدِرُ لِنَفْسِي دَفْعاً
or to benefit myself.	wa l� amliku lah� naf`an	وَلاَ امْلِكُ لَهَا نَفْعاً
O my God, I am Your servant�the feeble and sinful�	il�h� an� `abduka al��a`�fu almudhnibu	إِلٰهِي انَا عَبْدُكَ ٱلضَّعِيفُ ٱلْمُذْنِبُ
and Your slave�the penitent.	wa maml�kuka almun�bu	وَمَمْلُوكُكَ ٱلْمُنِيبُ
So, (please) do not include me with those against whom You have turned Your face	fal� taj`aln� mimman �arafta `anhu wajhaka	فَلاَ تَجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ صَرَفْتَ عَنْهُ وَجْهَكَ
or those whom are deprived of Your pardon because of their inattentiveness to You.	wa �ajabah� sahwuh� `an `afwika	وَحَجَبَهُ سَهْوُهُ عَنْ عَفْوِكَ
O my God, (please) grant me absolute devotion to You	il�h� hab l� kam�la alinqi��`i ilayka	إِلٰهِي هَبْ لي كَمَالَ ٱلاِنْقِطَاعِ إِلَيْكَ
and illuminate the sights of our hearts with the light of observing of You	wa anir ab��ra qul�bin� bi�iy�'i na�arih� ilayka	وَانِرْ ابْصَارَ قُلُوبِنَا بِضِيَاءِ نَظَرِهَا إِلَيْكَ
so that the sights of the hearts will penetrate the Screens of Light	�att� takhriqa ab��ru alqul�bi �ujuba alnn�ri	حَتَّىٰ تَخْرِقَ ابْصَارُ ٱلْقُلُوبِ حُجُبَ ٱلنُّورِ
and arrive at the Core of Magnificence,	fata�ila il� ma`dini al`a�amati	فَتَصِلَ إِلَىٰ مَعْدِنِ ٱلْعَظَمَةِ
and that our souls hang to the majesty of Your Holiness.	wa ta��ra arw��un� mu`allaqatan bi`izzi qudsika	وَتَصِيرَ ارْوَاحُنَا مُعَلَّقَةً بِعِزِّ قُدْسِكَ
O my God, (please) make me of those who responded to You when You called them,	il�h� waj`aln� mimman n�daytah� fa-aj�baka	إِلٰهِي وَٱجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ نَادَيْتَهُ فَاجَابَكَ
those who were shocked for Your Majesty when You observed them	wa l��a�tah� fa�a`iqa lijal�lika	وَلاحَظْتَهُ فَصَعِقَ لِجَلالِكَ
and You have thus taken into their confidence and they acted for You openly.	fan�jaytah� sirran wa `amila laka jahran	فَنَاجَيْتَهُ سِرّاً وَعَمِلَ لَكَ جَهْراً
O my God, I have shaded neither despair nor gloom over my good idea about You	il�h� lam usalli� `al� �usni �ann� qun��a al-ay�si	إِلٰهِي لَمْ اسَلِّطْ عَلَىٰ حُسْنِ ظَنِّي قُنُوطَ ٱلايَاسِ
and I have never lost hope in Your excellent magnanimity.	wa l� inqa�a`a raj�'� min jam�li karamika	وَلاَ ٱنْقَطَعَ رَجَائِي مِنْ جَمِيلِ كَرَمِكَ
O my God, if my sins have overthrown me in Your sight,	il�h� in k�nat alkha��y� qad asqa�atn� ladayka	إِلٰهِي إِنْ كَانَتِ ٱلْخَطَايَا قَدْ اسْقَطَتْنِي لَدَيْكَ
then please pardon me for my excellent trust in You.	fa�fa� `ann� bi�usni tawakkul� `alayka	فَٱصْفَحْ عَنِّي بِحُسْنِ تَوَكُّلِي عَلَيْكَ
O my God, if my wrongdoings have caused me to lose Your honorable kindness,	il�h� in �a��atn� aldhdhun�bu min mak�rimi lu�fika	إِلٰهِي إِنْ حَطَّتْنِيَ ٱلذُّنُوبُ مِنْ مَكَارِمِ لُطْفِكَ
then my belief in You has called my attention to the generosity of Your sympathy.	faqad nabbahan� alyaq�nu il� karami `a�fika	فَقَدْ نَبَّهَنِي ٱلْيَقِينُ إِلَىٰ كَرَمِ عَطْفِكَ
O my God, if my inadvertence has screened me against readying myself for meeting You,	il�h� in an�matn� alghaflatu `an alisti`d�di liliq�'ika	إِلٰهِي إِنْ انَامَتْنِيَ ٱلْغَفْلَةُ عَنِ ٱلإِسْتِعْدَادِ لِلِقَائِكَ
then my recognition of the generosity of Your bounties has awakened me.	faqad nabbahatn� alma`rifatu bikarami �l�'ika	فَقَدْ نَبَّهَتْنِي ٱلْمَعْرِفَةُ بِكَرَمِ آلاَئِكَ
O my God, if Your grave chastisement has drawn me to Hellfire,	il�h� in da`�n� il� alnn�ri `a��mu `iq�bika	إِلٰهِي إِنْ دَعَانِي إِلَىٰ ٱلنَّارِ عَظِيمُ عِقَابِكَ
then Your opulent reward has drawn me to Paradise.	faqad da`�n� il� aljannati jaz�lu thaw�bika	فَقَدْ دَعَانِي إِلَىٰ ٱلْجَنَّةِ جَزِيلُ ثَوَابِكَ
O my God, You alone do I pray and You alone do I implore and desire.	il�h� falaka as'alu wa ilayka abtahilu wa arghabu	إِلٰهِي فَلَكَ اسْالُ وَإِلَيْكَ ابْتَهِلُ وَارْغَبُ
I beseech You to bless Mu�ammad and the Household of Mu�ammad	wa as'aluka an tu�alliya `al� mu�ammadin wa �li mu�ammadin	وَاسْالُكَ انْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
and to include me with those who always mention You,	wa an taj`alan� mimman yud�mu dhikraka	وَانْ تَجْعَلَنِي مِمَّنْ يُدِيمُ ذِكْرَكَ
who never breach their covenant to You,	wa l� yanqu�u `ahdaka	وَلاَ يَنْقُضُ عَهْدَكَ
who never fail to thank You,	wa l� yaghfulu `an shukrika	وَلاَ يَغْفُلُ عَنْ شُكْرِكَ
and who never belittle Your affairs.	wa l� yastakhiffu bi-amrika	وَلاَ يَسْتَخِفُّ بِامْرِكَ
O my God, (please do) connect me with the most brilliant Light of Your Dignity	il�h� wa al�iqn� bin�ri `izzika al-abhaji	إِلٰهِي وَالْحِقْنِي بِنُورِ عِزِّكَ ٱلابْهَجِ
so that I will recognize You	fa-ak�na laka `�rifan	فَاكُونَ لَكَ عَارِفاً
and I will leave everybody else,	wa `an siw�ka mun�arifan	وَعَنْ سِوَاكَ مُنْحَرِفاً
and that I will be fearful of and careful with You.	wa minka kh�'ifan mur�qiban	وَمِنْكَ خَائِفاً مُرَاقِباً
O Lord of Majesty and Honor!	y� dh� aljal�li wal-ikr�mi	يَا ذَا ٱلْجَلاَلِ وَٱلإِكْرَامِ
May Allah send blessings to Muhammad, His Messenger, and upon his Household the Infallible,	wa �all� all�hu `al� mu�ammadin ras�lih� wa �lih� al��hir�na	وَصَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِهِ وَآلِهِ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ
and exalt them very much.	wa sallama tasl�man kath�ran	وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً كَثِيراً

My Lord, bestow Your blessings on Muhammad and his descendants; respond to my prayer when I pray to You; listen to my call when I call You; and turn to me when I make my submission to You in confidence. I have come running to You and am standing before You imploring You in humility and hoping to get the reward You have for me. You know what is in my heart, and You are aware of what I need. You know my mind and are not unaware of my future and of my present, of what I want to begin my speech with; of the request I would utter, and of the hopes I have in regard to my ultimate lot.
My Lord, whatever You have destined for me up to tbe end of my life, whether concerning the open aspect of my life or the hidden aspect of it, is bound to come. What is to my advantage and what is to my disadvantage - all my losses and gains are in Your hand, not in the hand of anybody else.
My Lord, if You deprive me, who else will provide me; and if You let me down, who else will help me?
My Lord, I seek Your protection from Your anger and from earning Your displeasure. If I am not fit for gaining Your Mercy, You are certainly fit to be generous to me by virtue of Your Magnanimity.
My Lord, I see as if I am standing before You protected by my trust in You. You said what befitted You and covered me with Your forgiveness.
My Lord, if You forgive me, then who is more suited than You to do that? If the time of my death has come near and my deeds have not still brought me close to You, I make this confession of my sins a means of approaching You.
I have been unjust to my soul for I have not looked after it. It will certainly be doomed if You do not forgive it.
My Lord, You have always been kind to me during my life time. Therefore do not cut off Your favour from me at the time of my death.
My Lord, how can lose the hope of Your looking kindly, in me after my death, when you have always been good to me during my life.
My Lord, in my case do what befits You and bestow Your favour on me - a sinner enwrapped in his ignorance.
My Lord, You have concealed many of my sins in this world. I am in a greater need of their being conceded in the next. As You have not revealed my sins even to any of Your pious bondmen, do not expose me on the Day of Resurrection before everybody.
My Lord, Your generosity has expanded my aspiration, and Your forgiveness is superior to my deeds. Therefore gladden my heart by allowing me to meet You on the day You administer justice to Your bondmen.
My Lord, my apology to You is the apology of him who cannot afford his apology being not accepted. Therefore accept my apology, You the Most Magnanimous of those to whom the evildoers tender their apology.
My Lord, do not turn down my request; do not foil my desire; and do not cut off my hope and expectation of You.
My Lord, if You had wanted to disgrace me, You would not have guided me; and if You had wanted to expose my faults and vices, You would not have kept me safe and sound.
My Lord, I do not think that You will turn down my request for that in asking You for which I have spent my whole life.
My Lord, all praise is due to You, always and forever, growing not diminishing, as You like and please.
My Lord, if You condemn me for my crimes, I will cling to Your forgiveness, and if You hold me for my sins, I will cling to Your granting pardon. If You haul me into the hell, I will tell its inmates that I love You.
My Lord, if my deeds are too small in relation to how I should obey You, my aspirations are high enough as compared to what I should expect of You.
My Lord, how can I go away from You unsuccessful and disappointed, when I had a high hope that You will be kind enough to send me away enjoying safety and deliverance.
My Lord, I have wasted my life committing the crime of forgetting You and played havoc with my youth, intoxicated with keeping myself away from You.
My Lord, I did not wake up when I was under a delusion about You and was inclined to earn Your displeasure.
My Lord, I am Your bondman, son of Your bondman. I am standing before You, trying to use Your own magnanimity as a means of approaching You.
My Lord, I am a bondman of Yours, I want to rid myself of the sins I used to commit in Your presence because I lacked the sense of feeling ashamed that You were looking at me. I request You to forgive me, because forgiveness is
a characteristic of Your Kindness.
My Lord, I was not strong enough to move away from Your disobedience, except when You awakened me to Your love. I was exactly as You wanted me to be. I am thankful to You for introducing me to Your Kindness and purging my heart of the impurities of being inattentive to You.
My Lord, look upon me as the person whom You called and he responded to You, whom You helped by using his ser-vices, and he obeyed You. You Near One, Who is not far from one who is away from You. You Munificent, Who does not withhold His reward from one who hopes for it.
My Lord, provide me with a heart, the passion of which may bring it near You, with a tongue the truth of which may be submitted to You, and with a vision the nature of which may bring it close to You.
My Lord, whoever gets acquainted with You, is not un-known; whoever takes shelter under You, is not disappointed; and one to whom You turn, is not a slave. One who follows Your path is enlightened; and one who takes refuge in You, is saved.
My Lord, I have taken refuge in You. Therefore do not disappoint me of Your Mercy and do not keep me secluded from Your Kindness.
My Lord, place me among Your friends in the position of one who hopes for an increase in Your love.
My Lord, inspire me with a passionate love of remembering You so that I may keep on remembering You, and by Your Holy Name and Pure Position cherish my cheerful determination into a success.
My Lord, I invoke You to admit me to the place reserved for those who obey You, and to attach me to the nice abode of those who enjoy Your good pleasure. . . I can neither defend myself nor do I control what is advantageous for me.

My Lord, I am Your powerless sinning slave and Your repentant bondman. So do not make me one of those from whom You turn away Your face, and whom his negligence has secluded from Your forgiveness.
My Lord, grant me complete severance of my relations with everything else and total submission to You. Enlighten the eyes of our hearts with the light of their looking at You to the extent that they penetrate the veils of light and reach the Source of Grandeur, and let our souls get suspended by the glory of Your sanctity.
My Lord, make me one of those whom You call and they respond; when You look at and they are thunderstruck by Your majesty. You whisper to them secretly and they work for You openly.
My Lord, I have not allowed my pessimistic despair to overcome my good opinion about You, nor did I ever lose my hope of Your benevolence.
My Lord, if my errors have degraded me with You, You may forgive me in view of my unqualified reliance on You.
My Lord, if my sins have made me unfit to receive Your tender affection, my firm belief has reminded me of Your Compassion.
My Lord, if my disregard for preparations to meet You has put me to sleep, my knowledge of Your kind bounties has awakened me.
My Lord, if Your severe punishment calls me to Hell, the abundance of Your reward invites me to Paradise.
My Lord, I ask You and pray to You earnestly, I desire and request You to show Your favour to Muhammad and his descendants, make me one of those who always remember You and never violate the pledge they make to You, who do not fail to show You their gratitude and do not take Your orders lightly.
My Lord, let me be attached to the Light of Your Majestic Glory, so that I may know You alone, be away from others, and have a heart fearful of You and an eye watchful of You. May Allah's blessing and peace be on Muhammad and those of his descendants who are pure.
