First Ramadhan

-Take a Bath (Ghusl). It is advisable to take ghusl and wash one's head thirty times ,with a palmful of water each time.

-Recite a 2 Rakat Salaat: In each Rakat recite Sura Fatiha & Sura 6 In-a'am Then invoke Allah swt to keep you safe from any illnesses in the year.

After the Maghrib Prayer raise your hands and recite this supplication: ( reported in ‘al-Iqbal’ from Imam Muhammad Jawad al-Taqi (as).

اللّهُمّ يَا مَنْ يَمْلِكُ التّدْبِيرَ	allahumma ya man yamliku alttadbira	O Allah: O He Who controls the management of all affairs;
وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ،	wa huwa `ala kulli shay‘in qadirun	and He has power over all things.
يَا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ الأَعْيُنِ	ya man ya`lamu kha’inata ala`yuni	O He Who knows the stealth of looks
وَمَا تُخْفِي الصّدُورُ وَتُجِنّ الضّمِيرُ	wa ma tukhfy alsuduru wa tujinnu aldhdhamiru	and that which breasts conceal and that which selves hide;
وَهُوَ اللّطِيفُ الخَبِيرُ.	wa huwa allatifu alkhabiru	and He is the Knower of subtleties, the Aware.
اللّهُمّ اجْعَلْنَا مِمّنْ نَوَى فَعَمِلَ،	allahumma aj`alna mimmn nawa fa`amila	O Allah: (please do) include us with those who intend and carried out their intentions;
وَلا تَجْعَلْنَا مِمّنْ شَقِيَ فَكَسِلَ،	wa la taj`alna mimmn shaqiya fakasila	and do not include us with those who are unhappy due to their laziness
وَلا مِمّنْ هُوَ عَلَى غَيْرِ عَمَلٍ يَتّكِلُ.	wa la mimmn huwa `ala ghayri `amalin yattakilu	or with those who depend upon unreal hopes.
اللّهُمّ صَحّحْ أَبْدَانَنَا مِنَ العِلَلِ،	allahumma sahhih abdanana mina al`ilali	O Allah: (please do) cure our bodies from ailments
وَأَعِنَّا عَلَى مَا افْتَرَضْتَ عَلَيْنَا مِنَ العَمَلِ،	wa a`inna `ala ma aftaradhta `alayna mina al`amali	and help us carry out the deeds that You have made incumbent upon us to do
حَتَّى يَنْقَضِيَ عَنَّا شَهْرُكَ هذَا وَقَدْ أَدّيْنَا مَفْرُوضَكَ فِيهِ عَلَيْنَا.	hatta yanqadhiya `anna shahruka hadha wa qad addina mafrudhaka fihi `alayna	so that when this month, which is Your month, elapses, we shall have carried out all the duties that You have made obligatory upon us to do.
اللّهُمّ أَعِنَّا عَلَى صِيَامِهِ،	allahumma a`inna `ala siyamihi	O Allah: (please do) help us observe fasting in this month;
وَوَفّقْنَا لِقِيَامِهِ،	wa waffiqna liqiyamihi	and guide us to practice the acts of worship (perfectly);
وَنَشّطْنَا فِيهِ لِلصّلاةِ،	wa nashshtna fihi lilsalati	and grant us vigor to offer prayers;
وَلا تَحْجُبْنَا مِنَ القِرَاءَةِ،	wa la tahjubna mina alqira‘ati	and do not preclude us from reciting (the Holy Qur'an);
وَسَهّلْ لَنَا فِيهِ إيتَاءَ الزّكَاةِ.	wa sahhl lana fihi iita‘a alzzakati	and make easy for us to give alms.
اللّهُمّ لا تُسَلّطْ عَلَيْنَا وَصَباً وَلا تَعَباً	allahumma la tusallit `alayna wasaban wa la ta`aban	O Allah: (please) do not inflict us with fatigue, tiredness,
وَلا سَقَماً وَلا عَطَباً.	wa la saqaman wa la `ataban	ailment, or injury.
اللّهُمّ ارْزُقْنَا الإفْطَارَ مِنْ رِزْقِكَ الحَلالِ.	allahumma arzuqna aliftara min rizqika alhalali	O Allah: (please do) grant us the food with which we break our fasting from Your sustenance that is legally gotten.
اللّهُمّ سَهّلْ لَنَا فِيهِ مَا قَسَمْتَهُ مِنْ رِزْقِكَ،	allahumma sahhil lana fihi ma qasamtahu min rizqika	O Allah: (please do) make easy for us the gaining of Your sustenance that You decide for us;
وَيَسّرْ مَا قَدّرْتَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ،	wa yassir ma qaddartahu min amrika	and facilitate for us Your act that You decide for us;
وَاجْعَلْهُ حَلالاً طَيّباً نَقِيّاً مِنَ الآثَامِ،	waj`alhu halalan tayyiban naqiyyan mina alathami	and make it pure, empty of sins,
خَالِصاً مِنَ الآصَارِ وَالأَجْرَامِ.	khalisan mina alasari wal-ajrami	and free from offenses and flaws.
اللّهُمّ لا تُطْعِمْنَا إلاَّ طَيّباً غَيْرَ خَبِيثٍ وَلا حَرَامٍ،	allahumma la tut`imna illa tayyiban ghayra khabithin wa la haramin	O Allah: (please) do not feed us except the good that is neither bad nor forbidden;
وَاجْعَلْ رِزْقَكَ لَنَا حَلالاً لا يَشُوبُهُ دَنَسٌ وَلا أَسْقَامٌ،	waj`al rizqaka lana halalan la yashubuhu danasun wa la asqamun	and (please do) make the sustenance that You decide for us be legal, carrying neither filth nor diseases.
يَا مَنْ عِلْمُهُ بِالسّرّ كَعِلْمِهِ بِالإعْلانِ،	ya man `ilmuhu bilssirri ka`ilmihi bili`lani	O He Who knows the secret in the same was as He knows the public;
يَا مُتَفَضّلاً عَلَى عِبَادِهِ بِالإحْسَانِ،	ya mutafadhdhilan `ala `ibadihi bilihsani	O He Who confers upon His servants with benevolence;
يَا مَنْ هُوَ عَلَى كُلّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ،	ya man huwa `ala kulli shay‘in qadirun	O He Who has power over all things
وَبِكُلّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ،	wa bikulli shay‘in `alimun khabirun	and has acquaintance with all things;
أَلْهِمْنَا ذِكْرَكَ،	alhimna dhikraka	(please do) bestow upon us with (ceaseless) reference to You;
وَجَنّبْنَا عُسْرَكَ،	wa jannbna `usraka	and keep us away Your difficulty;
وَأَنِلْنَا يُسْرَكَ،	wa anilna yusraka	and make us obtain Your ease;
وَاهْدِنَا لِلرّشَادِ،	wahdina lilrrshadi	and guide us to the right path;
وَوَفّقْنَا لِلسّدَادِ،	wa waffiqna lilssdadi	and lead us to the righteousness;
وَاعْصِمْنَا مِنَ البَلايَا،	wa`simna mina albalaya	and protect us against misfortunes;
وَصُنَّا مِنَ الأَوْزَارِ وَالخَطَايَا،	wa sunna mina alawzari wal-khataya	and safeguard us against sins and faults.
يَا مَنْ لا يَغْفِرُ عَظِيمَ الذّنُوبِ غَيْرُهُ،	ya man la yaghfiru `a¨ima aldhdhunubi ghayruhu	O He save Whom none forgives the grave sins
وَلا يَكْشِفُ السّوءَ إلاَّ هُوَ،	wa la yakshifu alssu‘a illa huwa	and He save Whom none can relieve from hardships;
يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ،	ya arhama alrrahimina	O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy
وَأَكْرَمَ الأَكْرَمِينَ،	wa akrama alakramina	and the most Generous of all those who show generosity;
صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الطّيّبِينَ،	salli `ala muhammadin wa ahli baytihi alttayyibina	(please do) send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household—the pure;
وَاجْعَلْ صِيَامَنَا مَقْبُولاً،	waj`al siyamana maqbulan	and decide our fasting as acceptable
وَبِالبِرّ وَالتّقْوَى مَوْصُولاً،	wa bilbirri wal-ttaqwa mawsulan	and as connected to piety and godliness.
وَكَذلِكَ فَاجْعَلْ سَعْيَنَا مَشْكُوراً،	wa kadhalika faj`al sa`yana mashkuran	And, similarly, (please do) decide our efforts as praiseworthy,
وَقِيَامَنَا مَبْرُوراً،	wa qiyamana mabruran	our acts of worship as admissible,
وَقُرْآنَنَا مَرْفُوعاً،	wa qur’anana marfu`an	our reciting of the Qur'an as raised (to the heavens),
وَدُعَاءَنَا مَسْمُوعاً،	wa du`a‘ana masmu`an	and our supplications as responded.
وَاهْدِنَا لِلْحُسْنَى،	wahdina lilhusna	And (please do) guide us to the most excellent way;
وَجَنّبْنَا العُسْرَى،	wa jannibna al`usra	and save us from difficulties;
وَيَسّرْنَا لِلْيُسْرَى،	wa yassirna lil-yusra	and facilitate for us the easy end;
وَأَعْلِ لَنَا الدّرَجَاتِ،	wa a`li lana alddarajati	and elevate our ranks;
وَضَاعِفْ لَنَا الحَسَنَاتِ،	wa dha`if lana alhasanati	and double the rewards for our good deeds;
وَاقْبَلْ مِنَّا الصّوْمَ وَالصّلاةَ،	waqbal minna alsawma wal-salata	and accept our fasting and prayers;
وَاسْمَعْ مِنَّا الدّعَوَاتِ،	wasma` minna aldda`awati	and react to our supplications;
وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا الخَطِيئَاتِ،	waghfir lana alkhati’ati	and forgive our sins;
وَتَجَاوَزْ عَنَّا السّيّئَاتِ،	wa tajawaz `anna alssayyi’ati	And overlook our wrongdoings
وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنَ العَامِلِينَ الفَائِزِينَ،	waj`alna mina al`amilina alfa’izina	and make us of the successful worshippers;
وَلا تَجْعَلْنَا مِنَ المَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالّينَ،	wa la taj`alna mina almaghdhubi `alayhim wa la aldhdhallina	and do not include us with those who earn Your anger nor of those who go astray,
حَتَّى يَنْقَضِيَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ عَنَّا	hatta yanqadhiya shahru ramadhana `anna	so that when the month of Ramadhan elapses,
وَقَدْ قَبِلْتَ فِيهِ صِيَامَنَا وَقِيَامَنَا،	wa qad qabilta fihi siyamana wa qiyamana	You shall have accepted our fasting and acts of worship,
وَزَكّيْتَ فِيهِ أَعْمَالَنَا،	wa zakkayta fihi a`malana	blessed our deeds,
وَغَفَرْتَ فِيهِ ذُنُوبَنَا،	wa ghafarta fihi dhunubana	forgiven our sins,
وَأَجْزَلْتَ فِيهِ مِنْ كُلّ خَيْرٍ نَصِيبَنَا،	wa ajzalta fihi min kulli khayrin nasibana	and doubled our shares from all good things.
فَإنّكَ الإلهُ المُجِيبُ،	fa’innaka al-ilahu almujibu	Verily, You are the God Who responds,
وَالرّبّ القَرِيبُ،	wal-rrabbu alqaribu	the Lord Who is Nigh,
وَأَنْتَ بِكُلّ شَيْءٍ مُحِيطٌ.	wa anta bikulli shay‘in muhitun	and You encompass all things.

It is recommended to say the following supplication reported from Imam Ja`far al-Sadiq (a.s) as is mentioned in the book of ‘al-Iqbal’:

It is advisable to say the supplication mentioned by Sayyid Ibn Tawus in ‘Iqbal al-A`mal’:

اَللّهُمَّ إنَّ هِذا شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ	alllahumma inna hadha shahru ramadhana	O Allah: This month of Ramadhan,
اَلَّذي أنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنَ،	alladhy anzalta fihi alqur’ana,	in which You revealed the Qur'an,
هُدىً لِلنّاسِ وَبَيِّناتٍ مِنَ الْهُدى وَالْفُرْقَانِ	hudan lilnnasi wabayyinatin mina alhudi walfurqani	As guidance for people and clear proofs of true guidance and distinction (between the right and the wrong),
قَدْ حَضَرَ.	qad hadhara.	Has commenced.
يا رَبِّ أعوذُ بِكَ فيهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطانِ الرَّجيمِ،	ya rabbi a`udhu bika fihi mina alshshaytani alrrajimi,	O Allah: in this month, I seek Your protection against Satan, the accursed,
وَمِنْ مَكْرِهِ وَحِيَلِهِ،	wamin makrihi wahialihi,	And against his tricks and his ruses,
وَخِداعِهِ وَحَبائِلِهِ،	wakhida`ihi wahabaiilihi,	And his deception and his trickeries,
وَجُنودِهِ وَخَيلِهِ،	wajunudihi wakhaylihi,	And his parties and his riding forces,
وَرِجْلِهِ وَوَساوِسِهِ،	warijlihi wawasauisihi,	And his on foot forces and his evil inspirations,
وَمِنَ الضَّلالِ بَعْدَ الْهُدى،	wamina aldhdhalali ba`da alhudi,	And against straying off after being guided,
وَمِنَ الكُفْرِ بَعْدَ الإيمانِ،	wamina alkufri ba`da alimani,	And against atheism after belief,
وَمِنَ النِّفاقِ وَالرِّياءِ وَالجِناياتِ،	wamina alnnifaqi waalrria‘i waaljinaiati,	And against hypocrisy and showing off and felonies,
وَمِنْ شَرِّ الوِسْواسِ الخَنّاسِ،	wamin sharri aluisuasi alkhannasi,	And against the evil of the whisperings of the slinking Devil,
الَّذي يُوَسْوِسُ في صُدورِ النّاسِ،	alladhy yuwasuisu fy suduri alnnasi,	Who whispers into the hearts of men;
مِنَ الجِنَّةِ وَالنّاسِ.	mina aljinnati waalnnasi.	From among the jinn and the men.
اللّهُمَّ وَارْزُقْني صِيامَهُ وَقِيامَهُ،	alllhumma waarzuqny siamahu waqiamahu,	O Allah: and confer upon me with the fasting and the doing of acts of worship during this month,
وَالعَمَلَ فيهِ بِطاعَتِكَ،	waal`amala fihi bita`atika,	And with the doing of acts of obedience to You,
وَطاعَةِ رَسولِكَ وَأُولي الأمْرِ،	wata`ati rasulika wa-uly alamri,	And to Your Messenger and the Men in Authority,
عَلَيهِ وَعَلَيهِمُ السَّلامُ،	`alayhi wa`alayhimu alssalamu,	May peace be upon him and them,
وَما قَرَّبَ مِنْكَ،	wama qarraba minka,	And the doing of whatever act that takes me near You,
وَجَنِّبْني مَعاصِيكَ،	wajannibny ma`asika,	And (please) take me away from acts of disobedience to You.
وَارْزُقْني فيهِ التَّوْبَةَ وَالإنابَةَ وَالإجابَةَ.	warzuqny fihi alttawbata walinabata wal-ijabata.	And confer upon me in this month with repentance, turning to You, and responding to Your instructions.
وَأعِذْني فيهِ مِنَ الغيبَةِ وَالكَسَلِ وَالفَشَلِ،	wa'a`idhny fihi mina alghibaati waalkasali waalfashali,	And protect me in it against backbiting and lethargy and failure.
وَاسْتَجِبْ لي فيهِ الدُّعاءَ،	waastajib ly fihi alddu`a‘a,	And respond my prayers in it.
وَأصِحَّ لي فيهِ جِسمي وَعَقْلي	waasihha ly fihi jismy wa`aqli	And grant me well-being for my body and my intellect.
وَفَرِّغْني فيهِ لِطاعَتِكَ وَما قَرَّبَ مِنكَ،	wafarrighny fihi lita`atika wama qarraba minka,	And grant me time to do acts of obedience to You as well as acts that take me near You.
يا كَريمُ يا جَوادُ.	ya karimu ya jawadu.	O the All-generous; O the All-magnanimous.
يا كَريمُ،	ya karimu,	O the All-generous:
صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلى أهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ	salli `ali muhammadin wa`ali ahli bayti muhammadin	(please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
عَلَيهِ وَعَلَيهِمُ السَّلامُ،	`alayhi wa`alayhimu alssalamu,	Peace be upon him and them,
وَكَذالِكَ فَافْعَلْ بِنا	wakadhalika faf`al bina	And do all that to us,
يا أرْحَمَ الرّاحِمينَ.	ya arhama alrrahimina.	O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

According to a Hadith, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) used to say this supplication at the beginning of Ramadhan month:

Aamal For the First "Day "of the Holy month of Ramadhan

Perform Ghusl in flowing water and splash thirty palmfuls of water on the head. This is a cause for prevention of illnesses throughout the year. Wash your face with a palm full of rose water to avoid poverty and distress and splash a palm full on the head .

Recite two rakaats in the first of which, after the recitation of Sura Hamd, recite Sura Ikhlaas thirty times, and in the second after the recitation of Sura Hamd recite Sura Qadr thirty times and after the prayers give alms. Whoever does so , will have purchased from Allah swt his safety for the month.

If supplication 44 in Sahifa Sajjadiya was not recited on the first night, it should be recited in the day.

Recite two rakaats, in the first of which after Sura Hamd recite Sura Fath (Sura no 48). In the second rakat after the recitation of Sura Hamd recite any sura you wish. Allah will keep away form you all evil during the year and keep you in his protection until the following year.

اللّهُمّ قَدْ حَضَرَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ	allahumma qad hadhara shahru ramadhana	O Allah: the month of Ramadhan has commenced,
وَقَدِ افْتَرضْتَ عَلَيْنَا صِيَامَهُ،	wa qadi aftardhta `alayna siyamahu	And You have made obligatory upon us to observe fasting during it,
وَأَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ القُرْآنَ	wa anzalta fihi alqur’ana	And You revealed the Qur'an in it,

اللّهُمّ أَعِنَّا عَلَى صِيَامِهِ،	allahumma a`inna `ala siyamihi	O Allah: (please) help us observe fasting in it,
وَتَقَبّلْهُ مِنَّا،	wa taqabbalhu minna	And accept it from us,
وَتَسَلَّمْهُ مِنا	wa tasallamhu minna	And receive it from us (with acceptance)
وَسَلّمْهُ لَنَا فِي يُسْرٍ مِنْكَ وَعَافِيَةٍ،	wa sallimhu lana fi yusrin minka wa `afiyatin	And keep it sound for us with easiness and good health from You.
إنّكَ عَلَى كُلّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ،	innaka `ala kulli shay‘in qadirun	You verily have power over all things.

IIn his book of ‘Zad al-Ma`ad’, `Allamah al-Majlisi has mentioned that al-Kulayniy, al-Tusi, and others, through an authentic series of narrators, have reported Imam Musa al-Kazim (a.s) as saying, “Say the following supplication on the first day of in the month of Ramadhan for if one prays Almighty Allah with this supplication purely and without associating any false purposes or showing off, he will be saved, throughout that year, from all seditious and misleading matters as well as all afflictions that may injure his religion or his body; and Almighty Allah will save him from the evils of all the misfortunes that will occur in that year.” The supplication is as follows:

اللّهُمّ إِنّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الّذِي دَانَ لَهُ كُلّ شَيْءٍ،	allahumma inni as’aluka bismika alladhy dana lahu kull shay‘in	O Allah I beseech You, in the name of Your name before which everything kneels down
وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ الّتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلّ شَيْءٍ،	wa birahmatika allaty wasi`at kulla shay‘in	in the name of Your mercy which encompasses everything;
وَبِعَظَمَتِكَ الّتِي تَوَاضَعَ لَهَا كُلّ شَيْءٍ،	wa bi`a¨amatika allaty tawadha`a lahakullu shay‘in	in the name of Your greatness which dwarfs everything;
وَبِعِزّتِكَ الّتِي قَهَرَتْ كُلّ شَيْءٍ،	wa bi`izztika allaty qaharat kulla shay‘in	in the name of Your power which subdues everything;
وَبِقُوّتِكَ الّتِي خَضَعَ لَهَا كُلّ شَيْءٍ،	wa biquwwatika allaty khadha`a laha kullu shay‘in	in the name of Your control which dominates everything;
وَبِجَبَرُوتِكَ الّتِي غَلَبَتْ كُلّ شَيْءٍ،	wa bijabarutika allaty ghalabat kulla shay‘in	in the name of Your omnipotence which overreaches and possesses everything;
وَبِعِلْمِكَ الّذِي أَحَاطَ بِكُلّ شَيْءٍ،	wa bi`ilmika alladhy ahata bikulli shay‘in	in the name of Your knowledge which knows everything;
يَا نُورُ يَا قُدّوسُ،	ya nuru ya quddusu	O Light, O Holy,
يَا أَوّلُ قَبْلَ كُلّ شَيْءٍ،	ya awulu qabla kulli shay‘in	O Ever Foremost, before everything;
وَيَا بَاقِياً بَعْدَ كُلّ شَيْءٍ،	wa ya baqiyan ba`da kulli shay‘in	O Ever-living after all things.
يَا اللّهُ يَا رَحْمنُ	ya allahu ya rahmanu	O Allah, O Beneficent,
صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ	salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin	send blessings on Muhammad and on the Household of Muhammad,
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تُغَيّرُ النّعَمَ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty tughayyiru alnni`ama	and forgive me for my sins which alter the course of the flowing bounties;
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تُنْزِلُ النّقَمَ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty tunzilu alnniama	forgive me for my sins which bring in punishment;
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تَقْطَعُ الرّجَاءَ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty taqta`u alrraja‘a	forgive me for my sins which cut off hope;
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تُدِيلُ الأَعْدَاءَ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty tudilu ala`da‘a	forgive me for my sins which give a chance to the enemies to lay hands on me;
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تَرُدّ الدّعَاءَ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty taruddualddu`a‘a	forgive me for my sins which render the prayers unacceptable,
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي يُسْتَحَقّ بِهَا نُزُولُ البَلاءِ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty yustahaqqubiha nuzulu albala‘i	forgive me for my sins which make me liable to suffer misfortunes;
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تَحْبِسُ غَيْثَ السّمَاءِ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty tahbisu ghaytha alssama‘i	forgive me for my sins which let the galloping venom from above takes hold of me;
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تَكْشِفُ الغِطَاءَ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty takshifu alghita‘a	forgive me for my sins which lay bare that which had been sealed and forgotten;
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تُعَجّلُ الفَنَاءَ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty tu`ajjilu alfana‘a	forgive me for my sins which whip off destruction;
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تُورِثُ النّدَمَ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty turithu alnnadama	forgive me for my sins which leave behind remorse in its trail;
وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ الّتِي تَهْتِكُ العِصَمَ،	waghfir liya aldhdhunuba allaty tahtiku al`isama	forgive me for my sins which tear up my integrity to pieces;
وَأَلْبِسْنِي دِرْعَكَ الحَصِينَةَ الّتِي لا تُرَامُ،	wa albisny dir`aka alhasinata allaty laturamu	and surround me with Your impregnable protective covering which never goes out of order,
وَعَافِنِي مِنْ شَرّ مَا أُحَاذِرُ بِاللّيْلِ وَالنّهَارِ فِي مُسْتَقْبَلِ سَنَتِي هذِهِ.	wa `afiny min sharri ma a’uhadhiru billayli wal-nnhari fi mustaqbali sanaty hdhihi	and keep me safe from the evil which may frighten me by threats, day in and day out, throughout this year.
اللّهُمّ رَبّ السّمَاوَاتِ السّبْعِ،	allahumma rabba alssamawati alssab`i	O Allah, the Lord of the seven heavens
وَرَبّ الأَرَضِينَ السّبْعِ وَمَا فِيهِنّ وَمَا بَيْنَهُنّ	wa rabba alaradhina alssab`i wa mafihinna wa ma baynahunna	and the seven (layers of) the earth and all that is therein and all that is between them,
وَرَبّ العَرْشِ العَظِيمِ،	wa rabba al`arshi al`a¨imi	the Lord of the Great Throne,
وَرَبّ السّبْعِ المَثَانِي وَالقُرْآنِ العَظِيمِ،	wa rabba alssab`i almathany wal-qur’ani al`a¨imi	the Lord of the seven oft-repeated verses and the matchless Quran,
وَرَبّ إِسْرَافِيلَ وَمِيكَائِيلَ وَجَبْرَائِيلَ،	wa rabb israfila wa mika’ila wa jabra’ila	The Lord of (Archangels) Israfil, Michael, and Gabriel,
وَرَبّ مُحَمّدٍ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ سَيّدِ المُرْسَلِينَ وَخَاتَمِ النّبِيّينَ،	wa rabb muhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi sayydi almursalina wa khatami alnnabiyyina	and the Lord of Muhammad, blessings of Allah be on him and on his Household, the Chief of the Messengers, the Last Prophet.
أَسْأَلُكَ بِكَ وَبِمَا سَمّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ	as’aluka bika wa bima sammayta bihi nafsaka	I beseech You in Your name and in name of that which You referred to Yourself
يَا عَظِيمُ أَنْتَ الّذِي تَمُنّ بِالعَظِيمِ،	ya `a¨imu anta alladhy tamunnu bil`a¨imi	O the Greatest, You are He who distributes bounties freely, protects the frightened, adds more and more to the free gifts,
وَتَدْفَعُ كُلّ مَحْذُورٍ،	wa tadfa`u kulla mahdhurin	Repels all avoided things,
وَتُعْطِي كُلّ جَزِيلٍ،	wa tu`ty kulla jazilin	Gives all abundant things,
وَتُضَاعِفُ الحَسَنَاتِ بِالقَلِيلِ وَبِالكَثِيرِ	wa tudha`ifu alhasanati bilqalili wa bilkathiri	doubles the recompense of good deeds done occasionally or frequently.
وَتَفْعَلُ مَا تَشَاءُ،	wa taf`alu ma tasha‘u	You do what You wills.
يَا قَدِيرُ يَا اللّهُ يَا رَحْمنُ	ya qadiru ya allahu ya rahmanu	O Omnipotent, O Allah, O Beneficent,
صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ،	salli `ala muhammadin wa ahli baytihi	send blessings on Muhammad and on his Household
وَأَلْبِسْنِي فِي مُسْتَقْبِلِ سَنَتِي هذِهِ سِتْرَكَ	wa albisny fi mustaqbili sanaty hadhihi sitraka	and surround me, during this year, with Your protection,
وَنَضّرْ وَجْهِي بِنُورِكَ،	wa nadhdhir wajhy binurika	let Your light beautify my face,
وَأَحِبّنِي بِمَحَبّتِكَ،	wa ahibbany bimahabbatika	let Your love draw me closest to You,
وَبَلّغْنِي رِضْوَانَكَ،	wa ballighny ridhwanaka	let Your pleasure to reach me
وَشَرِيفَ كَرَامَتِكَ،	wa sharifa karamatika	As well as Your excellent generosity,
وَجَسِيمَ عَطِيّتِكَ،	wa jasima `atiyyatika	And Your weighty rewards
وَأَعْطِنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا عِنْدَكَ	wa a`tiny min khayri ma `indaka	Give me from the good that You have
وَمِنْ خَيْرِ مَا أَنْتَ مُعْطِيهِ أَحَداً مِنْ خَلْقِكَ،	wa min khayri ma anta mu`tihi ahadan min khalqika	and from the good You gives to any one from among Your creation;
وَأَلْبِسْنِي مَعَ ذلِكَ عَافِيَتَكَ،	wa albisny ma`a dhalika `afiyataka	and with that kind of Your protection keep me safe.
يَا مَوْضِعَ كُلّ شَكْوَى،	ya mawdhi`a kulli shakwa	O He who (alone) settles all complaints,
وَيَا شَاهِدَ كُلّ نَجْوَى،	wa ya shahida kulli najwa	O He who (alone) sees clearly through what hearts and minds desire secretly,
وَيَا عَالِمَ كُلّ خَفِيّةٍ،	wa ya `alima kulli khafiyyatin	O He who (alone) knows full well that which is kept undisclosed,
وَيَا دَافِعَ مَا تَشَاءُ مِنْ بَلِيّةٍ،	wa ya dafi`a ma tasha‘u min baliyyatin	O He who (alone) protects from misfortunes (whenever He wills),
يَا كَرِيمَ العَفْوِ،	ya karima al-`afwi	O He who (alone) is the oft-forgiving compassionate,
يَا حَسَنَ التّجَاوُزِ،	ya hasana alttajawuzi	O He who (alone) overlooks faults,
تَوَفّنِي عَلَى مِلّةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَفِطْرَتِهِ،	tawaffany `ala millati ibrahima wa fitratihi	let me depart from this world adhering to the disposition and creed of Prophet Abraham,
وَعَلَى دِينِ مُحَمّدٍ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسُنّتِهِ،	wa `ala dini muhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sunnatihi	following the religion and way of life of Muhammad (blessings of Allah be on him and on his Household)
وَعَلَى خَيْرِ الوَفَاةِ فَتَوَفّنِي مُوَالِياً لأَوْلِيَائِكَ،	wa `ala khayri alwafati fatawaffny muwaliyan li-awliya’ika	-the best departure, in love of Your friends,
وَمُعَادِياً لأَعْدَائِكَ.	wa mu`adiyan li-a`da’ika	cut off with Your enemies.
اللّهُمّ وَجَنّبْنِي فِي هذِهِ السّنَةِ كُلّ عَمَلٍ أَوْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ فِعْلٍ يُبَاعِدُنِي مِنْكَ،	allahumma wa jannibny fi hadhihi alssanati kulla `amalin aw qawlin aw fi`lin yuba`iduny minka	O Allah keep me far off, during his year, from that general course of life, in words or deeds, which removes me to a distance far away from You.
وَاجْلِبْنِي إِلَى كُلّ عَمَلٍ أَوْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ فِعْلٍ يُقَرّبُنِي مِنْكَ فِي هذِهِ السّنَةَ،	wajlibny ila kull `amalin aw qawlin aw fi`lin yuqarribuny minka fi hadhihi alssanata	and keep me close to that general course of life, in words and deeds, which bring me nearest to You, during this year,
يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ،	ya arhama alrrahimina	O the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy.
وَامْنَعْنِي مِنْ كُلّ عَمَلٍ أَوْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ فِعْلٍ يَكُونُ مِنّي أَخَافُ ضَرَرَ عَاقِبَتِهِ،	wamna`ny min kulli `amalin aw qawlin aw fi`lin yakunu minny akhafu dharara `aqibatihi	Prevent me from a mode of action, in words and deeds, if done, it is feared, will produce evil as a result,
وَأَخَافُ مَقْتَكَ إِيَّايَ عَلَيْهِ	wa akhafu maqtaka iyyaya `alayhi	on account of which I am scared of Your logical aversion;
حِذَارَ أَنْ تَصْرِفَ وَجْهَكَ الكَرِيمَ عَنّي	hidhara an tasrifa wajhaka alkarima `anni	and I am afraid lest Your kind disposition may change direction
فَأَسْتَوْجِبَ بِهِ نَقْصاً مِنْ حَظّ لِي عِنْدَكَ،	fa-astawjiba bihi naqsan min ha¨¨in li `indaka	and I am restrained from obtaining my share of good fortune,
يَا رَؤُوفُ يَا رَحِيمُ.	ya ra’ufu ya rahimu	O Compassionate, O Merciful.
اللّهُمّ اجْعَلْنِي فِي مُسْتَقْبِلِ سَنَتِي هذِهِ فِي حِفْظِكَ	allahumma aj`alny fi mustaqbili sanaty hadhihi fi hif¨ika	O Allah keep me, throughout this year, under Your protection,
وَفِي جِوَارِكَ وَفِي كَنَفِكَ،	wa fi jiwarika wa fi kanafika	nearest Your closeness, right inside Your shelter,
وَجَلّلْنِي سِتْرَ عَافِيَتِكَ،	wa jallilny sitra `afiyatika	and cover and clad me with Your protective covering
وَهَبْ لِي كَرَامَتَكَ،	wa hab li karamataka	and give me Your love and kindness as a free gift;
عَزّ جَارُكَ،	`azza jaruka	verify whoso takes refuge with You is loved and looked after thoroughly;
وَجَلّ ثَنَاؤُكَ،	wa jalla thanau´uka	glorious and sublime is Your praise;
وَلا إِلهَ غَيْرُكَ.	wa la ilaha ghayruka	and there is no god other than You.
اللّهُمّ اجْعَلْنِي تَابِعاً لِصَالِحِي مَنْ مَضَى مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِكَ،	allahumma aj`alny tabi`an lisalihy man madha min awliya’ika	O Allah give me insight to follow the example of the upright (from among Your trusted friends) who penetrated more deeply in every matter and carried it out to perfection;
وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِهِمْ،	wa alhiqny bihim	and let me be closely tied up with them;
وَاجْعَلْنِي مُسَلّماً لِمَنْ قَالَ بِالصّدْقِ عَلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ،	waj`alny musallman liman qala bilsdqi `alayka minhum	and believe that which they said on Your behalf truthfully,
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ اللّهُمّ أَنْ تُحِيطَ بِي خَطِيئَتِي وَظُلْمِي	wa a`udhu bika allahumma an tuhita by khatyiaty wa ¨ulmy	I take refuge with You O my Allah from that which may surround me in a state of seige within the enclosure of errors, ignorance,
وَإِسْرَافِي عَلَى نَفْسِي وَاتّبَاعِي لِهَوَايَ	wa israfi `ala nafsy wattiba`y lihawaya	disintegration, daydreaming,
وَاشْتِغَالِي بِشَهَوَاتِي	washtighali bishahawaty	swallowing up in carnal desires,
فَيَحُولُ ذلِكَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَرِضْوَانِكَ	fayahulu dhalika bayny wa bayna rahmatika wa ridhwanika	(because of which) there is a barrier between me and Your mercy and pleasure;
فَأَكُونُ مَنْسِيّاً عِنْدَكَ،	fa-akunu mansiyyan `indaka	it consigned me to oblivion,
مُتَعَرّضاً لِسَخَطِكَ وَنِقْمَتِكَ.	muta`arridhan lisakhatika wa niqmatika	and invited Your displeasure and censure.
اللّهُمّ وَفّقْنِي لِكُلّ عَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ تَرْضَى بِهِ عَنّي،	allahumma waffiqny likulli `amalin salihin tardha bihi `anni	so that it helps me to obtain Your nearness and Your pleasure.
وَقَرّبْنِي إِلَيْكَ زُلْفَى.	wa qarribny ilayka zulfa	O Allah prepare me to do good under all circumstances,
اللّهُمّ كَمَا كَفَيْتَ نَبِيّكَ مُحَمّداً صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ هَوْلَ عَدُوّهِ،	allahumma kama kafayta nabiyyika muhammadan salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi hawla `aduwwihi	O Allah just as You did everything possible (nothing is impossible for Him) to help Your Prophet Muhammad (blessings of Allah be on him and on his Household) put terror in the hearts of his enemies,
وَفَرّجْتَ هَمّهُ،	wa farrajta hammahu	removed his anxieties,
وَكَشَفْتَ غَمّهُ،	wa kashafta ghammahu	dispersed his troubles,
وَصَدَقْتَهُ وَعْدَكَ،	wa sadaqtahu wa `daka	proved true the promise You made with him,
وَأَنْجَزْتَ لَهُ عَهْدَكَ،	wa anjazta lahu `ahdaka	and carried out to completion the undertaking You took up for him;
اللّهُمّ فَبِذلِكَ فَاكْفِنِي هَوْلَ هذِهِ السّنَةِ	allahumma fabidhalika fakfiny hawla hadhihi alssanati	(O Allah) in like manner keep me safe from fearful things and events, during this year,
وَآفَاتِهَا وَأَسْقَامَهَا	wa afatiha wa asqamaha	and from its logical consequences — outrage, havoc,
وَفِتْنَتَهَا وَشُرُورَهَا	wa fitnataha wa shururaha	confusion, evil,
وَأَحْزَانَهَا وَضِيقَ المَعَاشِ فِيهَا،	wa ahzanaha wa dhiqa alma`ashi fiha	sorrow; and the economic distress it perpetuates;
وَبَلّغْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ كَمَالَ العَافِيَةِ	wa ballighny birahmatika kamala al-`afiyati	and through Your mercy make available for me conclusive welfare
بِتَمَامِ دَوَامِ النّعْمَةِ عِنْدِي إِلَى مُنْتَهَى أَجَلِي،	bitamami dawami alnni`mati `indy ilamuntaha ajali	from the everlasting bounties till to the last moment of my life.
أَسْأَلُكَ سُؤَالَ مَنْ أَسَاءَ وَظَلَمَ وَاسْتَكَانَ وَاعْتَرَفَ،	as’aluka su´ala man asa‘a wa ¨alama wastakana wa`tarafa	I put forward a petition to You just like a person who has transgressed and did wrong to (others), but surrenders and makes a clean confession.
وَأَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي مَا مَضَى مِنَ الذّنُوبِ	wa as’aluka an taghfira li ma madha mina aldhdhunubi	I beseech You to forgive those earlier sins
الّتِي حَصَرَتْهَا حَفَظَتُكَ	allaty hasaratha hafa¨atuka	which are counted by Your Preserving Angels
وَأَحْصَتْهَا كِرَامُ مَلائِكَتِكَ عَلَيّ،	wa ahsatha kiramu mala’ikatika `alayya	and which have been recorded by Your appointed Angels;
وَأَنْ تَعْصِمَنِي اللّهُمّ مِنَ الذّنُوبِ	wa an ta`simany allahumma mina aldhdhunubi	And, O Allah, protect me against sinning
فِيمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ عُمْرِي إِلَى مُنْتَهَى أَجَلِي،	fima baqiya min `umry ila muntaha ajali	In the rest of lifetime up to my death
يَا اللّهُ يَا رَحْمنُ يَا رَحِيمُ	ya allahu ya rahmanu ya rahimu	O Allah! O Beneficent! O Merciful!
صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمّدٍ	salli `ala muhammadin wa ahli bayti muhammadin	Send blessings on Muhammad and on the Household of Muhammad,
وَآتِنِي كُلّ مَا سَأَلْتُكَ وَرَغِبْتُ إِلَيْكَ فِيهِ	wa atiny kull ma saltuka wa raghibtu ilayka fihi	and give me as a gift that which I have asked for and for which I turned to You (alone) with hope and expectation,
فَإِنّكَ أَمَرْتَنِي بِالدّعَاءِ،	fa’innaka amartany bilddu`a‘i	because it was You who ordered me to pray You
وَتَكَفّلْتَ لِي بِالاِجَابَةِ،	wa takaffalta li bil-ijabati	And thus You have promised of response.
يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.	ya arhama alrrahimina	O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

اللّهُمّ رَبّ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ،	allahumma rabba shahri ramadhana	O Allah, the Lord of the month of Ramadhan,
مُنَزّلَ القُرْآنِ،	munazzila alqur’ani	the Revealer of the Qur'an
هذَا شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ	hadha shahru ramadhana	This is the month of Ramadhan
الّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ القُرْآنَ	alladhy anzalta fihi alqur’ana	in which You revealed the Qur'an
وَأَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ آيَاتٍ بَيّنَاتٍ مِنَ الهُدَى وَالفُرْقَانِ.	wa anzalta fihi ayatin bayyinatin mina alhuda wal-furqani	And revealed therein chapters of true guidance and distinction (between the right and the wrong).
اللّهُمّ ارْزُقْنَا صِيَامَهُ،	allahumma arzuqna siyamahu	O Allah: make us observe fast in its days
وَأَعِنَّا عَلَى قِيَامِهِ.	wa a`inna `ala qiyamihi	and remain awake in its nights to pray.
اللّهُمّ سَلّمْهُ لَنَا،	allahumma sallimhu lana	O Allah: let it be peaceful for us,
وَسَلّمْنَا فِيهِ،	wa sallimna fihi	keep us in sound condition for it,
وَتَسَلّمْهُ مِنَّا فِي يُسْرٍ مِنْكَ وَمُعَافَاةٍ،	wa tasallamhu minna fi yusrin minka wa mu`afatin	let it take upon itself the supervision of our affairs to give us ease and well-being
وَاجْعَلْ فِيمَا تَقْضِي وَتُقَدّرُ	waj`al fima taqdhy wa tuqaddiru	and while taking decisions,
مِنَ الأَمْرِ المَحْتُومِ	mina al-amri almahtumi	From among Your inevitable decisions
وَفِيمَا تَفْرُقُ مِنَ الأَمْرِ الحَكِيمِ	wa fima tafruqu mina alamri alhakimi	And from among that which You decide from the wise affairs,
فِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ	fi laylati alqadri	At the Grand Night
مِنَ القَضَاءِ الّذِي لا يُرَدّ وَلا يُبَدّلُ	mina alqadha‘i alladhy la yuraddu wa la yubaddalu	From the act that is neither rejected nor altered,
أَنْ تَكْتُبَنِي مِنْ حُجَّاجِ بَيْتِكَ الحَرَامِ،	an taktubany min hujjaji baytika alharami	write my name in the list of those pilgrims of Your Sacred House
المَبْرُورِ حَجّهُمُ،	almabruri hajjuhumu	whose pilgrimage receives Your approval,
المَشْكُورِ سَعْيُهُمُ،	almashkuri sa`yuhumu	whose efforts are appreciated,
المَغْفُورِ ذُنُوبُهُمُ،	almaghfuri dhunubuhumu	whose sins are forgiven,
المُكَفّرِ عَنْهُمْ سَيّئَاتُهُمْ،	almukaffari `anhum sayyi’atuhum	whose wrongdoings are overlooked,
وَاجْعَلْ فِيمَا تَقْضِي وَتُقَدّرُ	waj`al fima taqdhy wa tuqaddiru	and while making decisions and rendering possible things and events
أَنْ تُطِيلَ لِي فِي عُمْرِي،	an tutila li fi `umri	make possible for me long life,
وَتُوَسّعَ عَلَيّ مِنَ الرّزْقِ الحَلالِ.	wa twass`a `alayya mina alrrzqi alhalali	and enough lawful means of livelihood.

اللّهُمّ إِنّهُ قَدْ دَخَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ.	allahumma innahu qad dakhala shahru ramadhana	O Allah: Surely, the month of Ramadhan has begun.
اللّهُمّ رَبّ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ	allahumma rabba shahri ramadhana	O Allah; O the Lord of the month of Ramadhan
الّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ القُرْآنَ	alladhy anzalta fihi alqur’ana	in which You have revealed the Qur'an
وَجَعَلْتَهُ بَيّنَاتٍ مِنَ الهُدَى وَالفُرْقَانِ.	wa ja`altahu bayyinatin mina alhuda wal-furqani	making it a guidance to people and clear proofs of the guidance and the distinction.
اللّهُمّ فَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ،	allahumma fabarik lana fi shahri ramadhana	So, O Allah, please bless us in the month of Ramadhan,
وَأَعِنَّا عَلَى صِيَامِهِ وَصَلَوَاتِهِ،	wa a`inna `ala siyamihi wa salawatihi	help us observe fasting and offer prayers in it,
وَتَقَبّلْهُ مِنَّا.	wa taqabbalhu minna	and accept from us.

الحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الّذِي أَكْرَمَنَا بِكَ	alhamdu lillahi alladhy akramana bika	All praise be to Allah Who has honored us with you—
أَيّهَا الشّهْرُ المُبَارَكُ.	ayyuha alshshahru almubaraku	the blessed month.
اللّهُمّ فَقَوّنَا عَلَى صِيَامِنَا وَقِيَامِنَا،	allahumma faqawwna `ala siyamina wa qiyamina	O Allah: (please do) grant us strength to observe fasting and practice acts of worship in this month;
وَثَبّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا،	wa thabbit aqdamana	and make our steps firm
وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى القَوْمِ الكَافِرِينَ.	wansurna `ala alqawmi alkafirina	and assist us against the unbelieving people.
اللّهُمّ أَنْتَ الوَاحِدُ فَلا وَلَدَ لَكَ،	allahumma anta alwahidu fala wa lada laka	O Allah: You are surely the One; therefore, You have not son.
وَأَنْتَ الصّمَدُ فَلا شِبْهَ لَكَ،	wa anta alsmadu fala shibha laka	And You are the eternally Besought of all; therefore, nothing is like You.
وَأَنْتَ العَزِيزُ فَلا يُعِزّكَ شَيْءٌ،	wa anta al`azizu fala yu`izzuka shay‘un	And You are the Almighty; therefore; nothing can overcome You.
وَأَنْتَ الغَنِيّ وَأَنَا الفَقِيرُ،	wa anta alghaniyyu wa ana alfaqiru	And You are the Self-sufficient while I am poor.
وَأَنْتَ المَوْلَى وَأَنَا العَبْدُ،	wa anta almawla wa ana al`abdu	And You are the Master while I am (Your) slave.
وَأَنْتَ الغَفُورُ وَأَنَا المُذْنِبُ،	wa anta alghafuru wa ana almudhnibu	And You are the All-forgiving while I am guilty.
وَأَنْتَ الرّحِيمُ وَأَنَا المُخْطِئُ،	wa anta alrrahimu wa ana almukhtiiu	And You are the All-merciful while I am mistaken.
وَأَنْتَ الخَالِقُ وَأَنَا المَخْلُوقُ،	wa anta alkhaliqu wa ana almakhluqu	And You are the Creator while I am (Your) creature.
وَأَنْتَ الحَيّ وَأَنَا المَيّتُ،	wa anta alhayyu wa ana almayytu	And You are the Ever-living while I am mortal.
أَسْأَلُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ	as’aluka birahmatika	I thus beseech You in the name of Your mercy
أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي وَتَرْحَمَنِي وَتَتَجَاوَزَ عَنّي	an taghfira li wa tarhamany wa tatajawaza `anni	that You may forgive me, have mercy upon me, and excuse my offenses,
إِنّكَ عَلَى كُلّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ.	innaka `ala kulli shay‘in qadirun	for You have power over all things.
