Of the several prescribed Ziyarat of Imam al-Husain (as), one was recited by Imam al-Mahdi(ATFS) and reached us through one of his four special deputies. For that reason, it is known as the Ziyarat that was issued from the sacred side (Ziyarat al-Nahiya al-Muqaddasa). One of the most important features of this Ziyarat is that in different phrases, Imam al-Mahdi (ATFS) graphically describes the events of Ashura and the agony that Imam al-Husain (as) and his family faced on that horrific and ominous day.

according to His saying, the most high, “… he, whom they find mentioned in their Torah and the Gospels, who commands them virtuous acts and forbids them evil, allows them as lawful the good (and pure) things, prohibits them from impurities, and releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them ...”
wa tarkiyal 'istighfāra maa ilmī bisiati ħilmika tađhyī'un liħaqqir-rajā'
On the other hand, if I do not ask for forgiveness with my knowledge of Your abundant forbearance, it will be wasting the right of hope (to You).
allāhumma 'inna dhunūbi tu'yisunī 'an 'arjūk,
My Allah! (due to my weak faith) my sins discourage me from requesting You,
wa 'in kuntu đhaīfal amali fa 'innī fī raħmatika qawiyyal 'amal,
Even though I have been weak in action, I have strong hope in Your mercy,
fahab lī đhafa amalī liquwwati 'amalī,
Thus, forgive the weakness of my action in light of the strength of my hope.
allāhumma 'in kunta talamu 'an mā fī 'ibādika man huwa 'aqsā qalban minnī wa 'ađamu minnī dhanbā,
O Allah! Even if You know there is no one amongst Your servants with harder heart and greater sins than mine,
fa 'innī 'alamu 'annahu lā mawlā 'ađamu minka ţawlā,
I certainly know that there is no master more generous than You,
wa 'awsau raħmatan wa afwā,
with greater mercy and forgiveness.
fayā man huwa 'awħadu fī raħmatih,
Then, O He Who is unique in His mercy!
'ighfir liman laysa bi 'awħada fī khaţī'atih,
Forgive him, who is not unique in his mistakes.
allāhumma 'innaka 'amartanā faašaynā,
O Allah! Certainly, You commanded us, but we have disobeyed,
wa nahayta famantahaynā,
forbade us, but we did not desist,
wa dhakkarta fatanāsaynā,
reminded us, but we remained unmindful,
wa baššarta fataāmaynā,
enlightened us, but we behaved blindly,
wa ħadh-dharta fataaddaynā,
and warned us, but we transgressed.
wa mā kāna dhālika jazā'a 'ihsānika 'ilaynā,
This was not the repayment of Your kindness to us,
wa 'anta 'alamu bimā 'alannā wa 'akhfaynā,
and You know what we have disclosed and have concealed,
and You are aware of what we will do and have done.
fašalli alā muħammadin wa āli muħammad,
Thus, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
wa lā tu'ākhidhnā bimā 'akhta'nā wa nasīnā,
and pardon us for our mistakes and our forgetfulness,
wa hab lanā ħuqūqaka ladaynā,
forgive us the negligence of Your rights by us,
wa 'atimma 'iħsānaka 'ilaynā,
complete Your beneficence towards us,
wa 'asbil raħmataka alaynā,
and cause Your mercy to descend upon us.
wa nas'aluka bil ħaqqil-ladhi jaaltahu lah wa lijaddihi rasūlika wa li 'abawayhi aliyyin wa fāţimata 'ahli baytir-raħmah,
and request You by the rights that You have placed for him, his grandfather, his parents, Ali and Fatima, the household of mercy,
The following is reported with a chain of narrations by my grandfather Al-Sheikh Abi Ja‟far Muhammad ibn al-Hassan al-Tusi – may God have mercy on him – on the authority of Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ay'yash. Al-Sheikh Al-Salih Abu Mansoor ibn Abdul Na'eem ibn Al-Nu‟man al-Baghdadi – may God have mercy on him – narrated the following. In the year 252 A.H. when I was a small child and my father – may God have mercy on him – perished, I received the following pilgrimage supplications for my master Al-Hussein (MGB) and the martyrs from Al-Sheikh Muhammad ibn Qalib al-Isfahany.
"In the Name of God, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful. When you decide to recite the pilgrimage supplications of Al-Hussein– may God be pleased with him - stop at the position of his head that is the shrine of Ali ibn al-Hussein (MGB). Then turn your face towards the Qibla where the martyrs are buried and first point to Ali ibn al-Hussein (MGB) and say the following:
"Peace be on you, O' the first one killed from the progeny of the best descendants of the beloved Abraham (MGB) - May God‟s Blessings be on you and your father who said the following regarding you, "May God kill the people who killed you.
O' my son! How daring they are to the Merciful and how much do they violate the respect for the Prophet (MGB)! Woe be upon the world after you! It is just as if I see you standing in front of him and say the following to the atheists:
"I am Al-Hussein ibn Ali. By God we – the Household of God are closest to the Prophet.
I shall push the spears into your body so much that they bend down, and shall hit you with the sword in support of my father. I swear by God that with the blows of young Arab Hashemites, the one born of adultery cannot rule over us.”
Then death comes and you meet your Lord! I bear witness that you are closer to God and His Prophet (MGB) and that you are son of God‟s Prophet (MGB), God‟s Proof, His Religion, the son of His Proof and His trusted one. May God rule about your murderer – Marat ibn Minqad ibn Al-Nu‟man al-Abdi – may God damn and dishonor him - and whoever assisted him in murdering you, who supported him against you. May God throw them into Hell and a terrible return! May God let us be amongst your visitors, companions, and companions of your grandfather, father, uncle, brother, and oppressed mother. I disown from your enemies who deny. May God‟s peace, mercy and blessings be upon you.
Peace be on Abdullah ibn al-Hussein – a breast-fed baby who was shot with an arrow, fell into his blood, and his blood spattered into the sky. He was killed with an arrow in his father's lap.
May God's Curse be on the one who shot him being Harmalat ibn Kahil al-Asadi and his associates.
Peace be on Abdullah – son of the Commander of the Faithful who suffered calamities and yet announced Al-Hussein‟s Mastery in the Land of Karbala - The one hit from front and behind! May God's Curse be on his murderer Hani ibn Sabit al-Hazrami.
Peace be on Abil Fazl Al-Abbas – son of the Commander of the Faithful who assisted his brother with his own life, who took some means for the Hereafter and sacrificed himself for him by going to fetch some water but lost both of his hands. God's Curse be on both of his murderers Yazid ibn al-Raqad al-Hayti and Hakim ibn al-Tufayl al-Ta'ee.
Peace be on Ja'far - son of the Commander of the Faithful who persevered with his own life, took something from this life for his afterlife, offered his own life and went to bring water for his brother but his hands were chopped off. May God's Curse be on his murderer Hani ibn Sabit al-Hazrami.
Peace be on Uthman – son of the Commander of the Faithful – called Uthman ibn Mazoon. God's Curse be on the one who shot him with an arrow - Khuwli ibn Yazid al-Asbahi al-Ayadi al-Daremi.
Peace be on Muhammad – son of the Commander of the Faithful who was murdered by Al-Ayady al-Daremy - may God damn him and increase his stern punishment. O' Muhammad (MGB)! May God‟s Blessings be on you and on your Holy Household (MGB) – the ones who persevere!
Peace be on Abi Bakr – the son of the pure Divine Leader Al-Hassan ibn Ali who was shot by a destructive arrow. May God's Curse be on his murderer – Abdullah ibn Aqabat al-Qanvi.
Peace be on Abdullah ibn al-Hassan ibn Ali - the Pure. May God's Curse be on his murderer who shot him being Harmalat ibn Kahil al-Asadi.
Peace be on Al-Qasim ibn al-Hassan ibn Ali – hit on the head, while calling his uncle Al-Hussein (MGB) and he rushed to him like an eagle and saw that he was moving the dirt with his feet. Then Al-Hussein (MGB) said, “May those who killed you be deprived of God‟s mercy – those who your grandfather and father shall be their enemy on the Resurrection Day.” Then he (MGB) added, “I swear by God that it is hard for your uncle to see you calling him when he cannot answer, or answer you when you are killed and have fallen on the ground and he cannot help you. I swear by God that today we are suffering a great loss and our helpers are few. May God unite me with you on the day you gather together. God's Curse be on your murderer Umar ibn Sa'ed ibn Urwat ibn Nafil al-Azudy and send him to Hell and chastise them with a painful Punishment.”
Peace be on Oan ibn Abdullah ibn Ja'far al-Tay'yar who shall fly in Paradise. He was the pledge of faith, fighting with the strong people, advising for the Merciful, and reciting the Oft-repeated verses and the Qur‟an. May God's Curse be on his murderer Abdullah ibn Qatbat al-Behbahani.
Peace be on Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Ja‟far who was present at the location of his father, equal to his brother, and protected him with his own body. God's Curse be on his murderer Amir ibn Nahshal al-Tamimi.
Peace be on Ja'far ibn Aqeel. God's Curse be on his murderer who shot him being `Bashr ibn Khuwt al-Hamidani.
Peace be on Abdul Rahman ibn Aqeel. God's Curse be on his murderer who shot him being Amir ibn Khaled ibn Asad al-Jahni.
Peace be on the murdered – the son of the murdered – Abdullah ibn Muslim ibn Aqeel. God's Curse be on his murderer Amir ibn Sa'asat or Asad ibn Malik.
Peace be on Ubaydullah ibn Muslim ibn Aqeel. God's Curse be on his murderer who shot him being Amru ibn Sabih al-Saydavi.
Peace be on Muhammad ibn Abi Saeed ibn Aqeel. God's Curse be on his murderer Laqit ibn Nashir al-Jahni. Peace be on Suleiman – servant of Al-Hussein (MGB) – son of the Commander of the Faithful (MGB).God's Curse be on his murderer Suleiman ibn Oaf al-Hazrami. Peace be on Qarib – servant of Al-Hussein ibn Ali (MGB). Peace be on the Munjah – the freed slave of Al-Hussein ibn Ali (MGB).
Peace be on Muslim ibn Uwsaja al-Asadi who said the following to Al-Hussein (MGB) after being granted permission to leave. “How can we leave you?
