Allāhumm ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālīh
O God, bless Muḥammad and his family (ālih),

Yā Allāhu l-ladhī lā yakhfā ‘alayh
O God, from Whom nothing is concealed

shay’un fī l-arḍi wa-lā fī s-samā’,
in the earth nor in the heaven,

wa-kayfa yakhfā ‘alayka yā Ilāhī mā Anta khalaqtah?
And how can what You created be concealed from You, O my God?

wa-kayfa lā tuḥṣī mā Anta ṣana‘tah?
And how can You not enumerate what You have fashioned?

aw kayfa yaghību ‘anka mā Anta tudabbiruh?
Or how can what You administer be absent from You?

aw kayfa yastaṭī‘u an yahruba minka man lā ḥayāta lahū illā bi-rizqik?
Or how can he who has no life except through Your provision be able to flee from You?

aw kayfa yanjū minka man lā madhhaba lahū fī ghayri mulkik?
Or how can he escape from You who has no resort other than Your dominion?

Subḥānak! Akhshā khalqika lak a‘lamuhum bik,
Glory be to You! The most fearful of Your creation toward You is the one who knows You best,

wa-akhḍa‘uhum lak a‘maluhum bi-ṭā‘atik,
and the most submissive of them to You is the one who acts most upon Your obedience,

wa-ahwanuhum ‘alayk man anta tarzuquhū wa-huwa ya‘budu ghayrak,
and the least significant of them to You is the one whom You provide for while he worships other than You.

Subḥānak! Lā yunqiṣu sulṭānak man ashraka bik, wa-kadhdhabu rusulak,
Glory be to You! He who associates partners with You, and denies Your Messengers, does not diminish Your sovereignty,

wa-laysa yastaṭī‘u man kariha qaḍā’ak an yarudda amrak,
and he who dislikes Your decree cannot repel Your command,

wa-lā yamtanu‘u minka man kadhdhaba bi-qudratik,
and he who denies Your power cannot withhold himself from You,

wa-lā yafūtuka man ‘abada ghayrak,
and he who worships other than You will not escape You,

wa-lā yu‘ammaru fī d-dunyā man kariha liqā’ak.
and he who disliked meeting You will not be given long life in the world.

Subḥānak! Mā a‘ẓama sha’nak, wa-aqhara sulṭānak,
Glory be to You! How immense is Your dignity! And how overwhelming is Your sovereignty!

wa-ashadda quwwatak, wa-anfadha amrak!
And how severe is Your power! And how penetrating is Your command!

Subḥānak! Qaḍayta ‘alā jamī‘i khalqik al-mawt:
Glory be to You! You decreed death upon all Your creation:

man waḥḥadaka wa-man kafara bik,
both he who affirms Your oneness and he who disbelieves in You,

wa-kullun dhā’iqu l-mawt,
and everyone is a taster of death,

wa-kullun ṣā’irun ilayk, fa-tabārakta wa-ta‘ālayt,
and everyone is bound for You, so blessed and exalted are You!

Lā ilāha illā Ant, waḥdak lā sharīka lak, āmanutu bik,
There is no god but You, alone, without a partner, I believe in You,

wa-ṣaddaqtu rusulak wa-qabiltu kitābak,
and I affirmed Your Messengers and accepted Your Book,

wa-kafartu bi-kulli ma‘būdin ghayrik,
and I disbelieved in every deity other than You,

wa-bari’tu mimman ‘abada siwāk.
and I disassociated myself from whoever worshipped anything other than You.

Allāhumm innī uṣbiḥu wa-umsī mustaqillan li-‘amalī,
O God, truly I begin my day and enter my evening regarding my deed as small (or insufficient),

mu‘tarifan bi-dhanbī, muqirran bi-khaṭāyāy,
confessing my sin, acknowledging my mistakes,

anā bi-isrāfī ‘alā nafsī dhalīl,
I am humiliated by my transgression against my soul,

‘amalī ahlakanī, wa-hawāya ardānī,
My deed has destroyed me, and my caprice has led me to ruin,

wa-shahawātī ḥaramatnī.
and my desires have deprived me.

Fa-as’aluka yā Mawlāya su’āla man nafsūhū lāhiyatun li-ṭūli amalih,
So I ask You, O my Master, the asking of one whose soul is heedless due to the length of his hope,

wa-badanuhū ghāfilun li-sukūni ‘urūqih,
and whose body is neglectful due to the stillness of his veins,

wa-qalbuhū maftūnun bi-kathratin-ni‘ami ‘alayh,
and whose heart is captivated by the abundance of blessings upon him,

wa-fikruhū qalīlun li-mā huwa ṣā’irun ilayh,
and whose thought is meager concerning what he is heading toward,

su’āla man qad ghalaba ‘alayhi l-amal,
The asking of one over whom hope has surely prevailed,

wa-fatanahu l-hawā, wa-stamkanat minhu d-dunyā,
and caprice has tempted him, and the world has gotten a strong hold over him,

wa-aẓallahu l-ajal, su’āla mani stakthara dhunūbah,
and the term (of death) has overshadowed him, the asking of one who considered his sins many,

wa-a‘tarafa bi-khaṭī’atih, su’āla man lā Rabba lahū ghayruk,
and acknowledged his mistake, the asking of one who has no Lord other than You,

wa-lā waliyya lahū dūnak, wa-lā munqidhā lahū minka,
and no protector besides You, and no deliverer from You,

wa-lā malja’a lahū minka illā ilayk.
and no refuge from You except to You.

Ilāhī as’aluka bi-ḥaqqika l-wājibi ‘alā jamī‘i khalqik,
My God, I ask You by Your right which is incumbent upon all Your creation,

wa-bi-smika l-‘aẓīm illadhī amarta rasūlak an yusabbiḥak bih,
and by Your Mighty Name with which You commanded Your Messenger to glorify You,

wa-bi-jalāli wajhikal-karīm illadhī lā yablā
and by the Majesty of Your Noble Face which does not waste away,

wa-lā yataghayyar, wa-lā yaḥūlu wa-lā yafnā,
and does not change, nor move, nor perish,

an tuṣalliya ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-āli Muḥammad,
that You bless Muḥammad and the family of Muḥammad,

wa-an tughniyanī ‘an kulli shay’in bi-‘ibādatik,
and that You make me independent of everything by Your worship,

wa-an tusalliya nafsī ‘ani d-dunyā bi-makhāfatika,
and that You console my soul from the world with my fear of You,

wa-an tuthniyanī bi-l-kathīr min karāmatik bi-raḥmatik,
and that You grant me in return much of Your generosity by Your mercy.

Fa-ilayk affirr, wa-minka akhāf, wa-bika astaghīth,
So to You I flee, and from You I fear, and in You I seek aid,

wa-iyyāka arjū, wa-lak ad‘ū, wa-ilayk alja’u,
and You I hope for, and to You I call, and to You I seek refuge,

wa-bika athiq, wa-iyyāka asta‘īn, wa-bika u’minu,
and in You I trust, and Your help I seek, and in You I believe,

wa-‘alayk atawakkalu,
and upon You I rely,

wa-‘alā jūdika wa-karamika attakilu.
and upon Your bounty and Your generosity I depend.
