يا مَنْ ذِكْرُهُ شَرَفٌ لِلذَّاكِرِينَ Yā man dhikruhu sharafun lil-dhākirīn
O He whose remembrance is an honor for those who remember.
وَيَا مَنْ شُكْرُهُ فَوْزٌ لِلشَّاكِرِينَ Wa-yā man shukruhu fawzun lil-shākirīn
And O He whose gratitude is success for the thankful.
وَيَا مَنْ طَاعَتُهُ نَجَاةٌ لِلْمُطِيعِينَ Wa-yā man ṭā‘atuhu najātun lil-muṭī‘īn
And O He whose obedience is salvation for the obedient.
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ Ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-Ālihi
Send blessings upon Muḥammad and his family.
وَاشْغَلْ قُلُوبَنَا بِذِكْرِكَ عَنْ كُلِّ ذِكْرٍ Wa-ashghil qulūbanā bidhikrika ‘an kulli dhikr
And occupy our hearts with Your remembrance from all other remembrance.
وَأَلْسِنَتَنَا بِشُكْرِكَ عَنْ كُلِّ شُكْرٍ Wa-alsinatanā bishukrika ‘an kulli shukr
And our tongues with Your thanks from all other thanks.
وَجَوَارِحَنَا بِطَاعَتِكَ عَنْ كُلِّ طَاعَةٍ Wa-jawāriḥanā bi-ṭā‘atika ‘an kulli ṭā‘ah
And our limbs with Your obedience from all other obedience.
فَإِنْ قَدَّرْتَ لَنَا فَرَاغًا مِنْ شُغْلٍ فَاجْعَلْهُ فَرَاغَ سَلَامَةٍ Fa-in qaddarta lanā farāghan min shughlin fa-j‘alhu farāgha salāmah
And if You decree for us a time free from work, then make it a time of safety.
لَا تُدْرِكْنَا فِيهِ تَبِعَةٌ وَلَا تَلْحَقْنَا فِيهِ سَآمَةٌ Lā tudriknā fīhi tabi‘atun wa-lā talḥaqnā fīhi sa’āmah
In which no burden overtakes us, and no weariness afflicts us.
حَتَّى يَنْصَرِفَ عَنَّا كُتَّابُ السَّيِّئَاتِ بِصَحِيفَةٍ خَالِيَةٍ مِنْ ذِكْرِ سَيِّئَاتِنَا Ḥattā yanṣarifa ‘annā kuttābu al-sayyi’āti bi-ṣaḥīfatin khāliyyatin min dhikri sayyi’ātinā
Until the recorders of evil deeds depart from us with a scroll empty of any mention of our sins.
وَيَتَوَلَّى كُتَّابُ الْحَسَنَاتِ عَنَّا مَسْرُورِينَ بِمَا كَتَبُوا مِنْ حَسَنَاتِنَا Wa-yatawallā kuttābu al-ḥasanāti ‘annā masrūrīna bimā katabū min ḥasanātinā
And the recorders of good deeds depart from us rejoicing in what they have written of our good deeds.
وَإِذَا انْقَضَتْ أَيَّامُ حَيَاتِنَا وَتَصَرَّمَتْ مُدَدُ أَعْمَارِنَا Wa-idhā inqaḍat ayyāmu ḥayātinā wa-taṣarramat mudadu a‘mārinā
And when the days of our lives have ended, and the spans of our ages have passed.
وَاسْتَحْضَرَتْنَا دَعْوَتُكَ الَّتِي لَا بُدَّ مِنْهَا وَمِنْ إِجَابَتِهَا Wa-istaḥḍaratnā da‘watuka allatī lā budda minhā wa-min ijābatihā
And Your summons, which cannot be avoided and must be answered, has attended us.
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ Fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-Ālihi
Then send blessings upon Muḥammad and his family.
وَاجْعَلْ خِتَامَ مَا تُحْصِي عَلَيْنَا كَتَبَةُ أَعْمَالِنَا تَوْبَةً مَقْبُولَةً Wa-j‘al khitāma mā tuḥṣī ‘alaynā katabatu a‘mālinā tawbatan maqbūlah
And make the conclusion of what the scribes of our deeds record against us a repentance accepted.
لَا تُوقِفْنَا بَعْدَهَا عَلَى ذَنْبٍ اجْتَرَحْنَاهُ Lā tūqifnā ba‘dahā ‘alā dhanbin ijtaraḥnāhu
Do not expose us after it to a sin we have committed.
وَلَا مَعْصِيَةٍ اقْتَرَفْنَاهَا Wa-lā ma‘ṣiyatin iqtirafnāhā
Nor to a disobedience we have perpetrated.
وَلَا تَكْشِفْ عَنَّا سِتْرًا سَتَرْتَهُ عَلَى رُؤُوسِ الْأَشْهَادِ Wa-lā takshif ‘annā sitran satartahu ‘alā ru’ūsi al-ashhād
And do not uncover from us a covering You have concealed over us before witnesses.
يَوْمَ تَبْلُو أَخْبَارَ عِبَادِكَ Yawma tablu akhbāra ‘ibādika
On the day You test the reports of Your servants.
إِنَّكَ رَحِيمٌ بِمَنْ دَعَاكَ، وَمُسْتَجِيبٌ لِمَنْ نَادَاكَ Innaka raḥīmun biman da‘āk, wa-mustajībun liman nādāk
Indeed, You are Merciful to the one who calls upon You, and Responsive to the one who invokes You.
