Subject: Stability in the righteous path, Asking for guidance and mercy
رَبَّنا لا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنا وَ هَبْ لَنا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
(They say:) 'Our Lord! let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and bestow on us from Your mercy, for You are, indeed, the Ever-Bestower.
Sayer: Those who are firm in knowledge
Aal‑i‑Imraan: 8
Subject: Praying before starting anything
وَ قُلْ رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَ أَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَ اجْعَلْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ سُلْطاناً نَصِيراً
And say: ‘My Lord! cause me to enter a goodly entrance and cause me to go out (of) a goodly exit, and grant me from Your part a (powerful) authority to assist (me)’.

Al‑Israa: 80
Subject: Seeking good in this world and the hereafter
وَ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ رَبَّنا آتِنا فِي الدُّنْيا حَسَنَةً وَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَ قِنا عَذابَ النَّارِ
But there are some who say: 'Our Lord! grant us good in this world and good in the world to come, and save us from the torment of the Fire '.

Al‑Baqara: 201
Subject: Divine glorification, expressing regret for salvation from sorrow
وَ ذَا النُّونِ إِذْ ذَهَبَ مُغاضِباً فَظَنَّ أَنْ لَنْ نَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَنادى‏ فِي الظُّلُماتِ أَنْ لا إِلهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ سُبْحانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
And (remember) Zan-Nun (Jonah) when he departed (his people) in anger and imagined that We would not straiten him; so he called out in the darkness: ‘There is no god but You (O my Lord!). Glory be to You! Verily I was of the unjust ones’!

Al‑Anbiyaa: 87
Subject: Asking for success in performing your prayers, righteous children, and acceptance of your prayers
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلاةِ وَ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنا وَ تَقَبَّلْ دُعاءِ
My Lord! Make me a performer of the prayer, and of my offspring (too): Our Lord! and accept my petition

Subject: Seeking forgiveness for believers and parents
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَ لِوالِدَيَّ وَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسابُ
Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and the believers on the Day when the reckoning shall come to pass.

Ibrahim: 41
Subject: Asking for the power of speech and spiritual sublimity
قالَ رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي * وَ يَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي * وَ احْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسانِي * يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
(Moses) said: ‘My Lord! Expand me my breast! * And make easy for me my task, * And loose a knot from my tongue, * (That) they may understand my saying.

Taa‑Haa: 25-28
Subject: Asking for forgiveness, asking for a good outcome
رَبَّنا إِنَّنا سَمِعْنا مُنادِياً يُنادِي لِلْإِيمانِ أَنْ آمِنُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ فَآمَنَّا رَبَّنا فَاغْفِرْ لَنا ذُنُوبَنا وَ كَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّئاتِنا وَ تَوَفَّنا مَعَ الْأَبْرارِ
Our Lord! Verily we have heard (the invitation of) a Crier calling to the faith, saying: 'Believe in your Lord!' So we did believe. 'Our Lord! forgive us therefore our sins, and cover for us our evil deeds, and make us die with the righteous'.

Aal‑i‑Imraan: 193
Subject: Asking for forgiveness, success in religious matters, victory over disbelievers
لا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْساً إِلاَّ وُسْعَها لَها ما كَسَبَتْ وَ عَلَيْها مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ رَبَّنا لا تُؤاخِذْنا إِنْ نَسِينا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنا رَبَّنا وَ لا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنا إِصْراً كَما حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِنا رَبَّنا وَ لا تُحَمِّلْنا ما لا طاقَةَ لَنا بِهِ وَ اعْفُ عَنَّا وَ اغْفِرْ لَنا وَ ارْحَمْنا أَنْتَ مَوْلانا فَانْصُرْنا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكافِرِينَ
Allah does not impose upon anyone a duty but to the extent of his capacity; in his favour shall be what he has earned, and against him shall be (the evil) he has wrought. Our Lord! punish us not if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! lay not upon us a burden such as You did lay upon those before us. Our Lord! burden us not with what we have no strength to bear. And pardon us, and forgive us, and have mercy on us; You are our Guardian, so help us against the people who are infidels

Al‑Baqara: 286
Subject: Asking for forgiveness and triumph over disbelievers
وَ ما كانَ قَوْلَهُمْ إِلاَّ أَنْ قالُوا رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنا ذُنُوبَنا وَ إِسْرافَنا فِي أَمْرِنا وَ ثَبِّتْ أَقْدامَنا وَ انْصُرْنا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكافِرِينَ
And their statement was nothing but that they said: ' Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our prodigality in our affair and make our feet firm and help us against the disbelieving folk '.

Aal‑i‑Imraan: 147
Subject: Asking for children
وَ زَكَرِيَّا إِذْ نادى‏ رَبَّهُ رَبِّ لا تَذَرْنِي فَرْداً وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْوارِثِينَ
And (remember) Zachariah, when he called unto his Lord: ‘O my Lord! Leave me not alone (without a child); and You are the best of inheritors’.

Al‑Anbiyaa: 89
Subject: Asking for good children
هُنالِكَ دَعا زَكَرِيَّا رَبَّهُ قالَ رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعاءِ
It was then (that) Zakariya prayed to his Lord; he said: 'My Lord! grant me from You a good offspring; verily You are the Hearer of all prayers'.

Aal‑i‑Imraan: 38
Subject: Asking for good children
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
My Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!
Sayer: Prophet Ibrahim (a) (Abraham)
As‑Saaffaat: 100
Subject: Asking for righteous children and good wives, seeking pious leaders
وَ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنا هَبْ لَنا مِنْ أَزْواجِنا وَ ذُرِّيَّاتِنا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَ اجْعَلْنا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِماماً
And those who say: ‘O’ our Lord! Grant us from our wives and our offspring the joy of our eyes, and make us for the pious ones (their) Imams.

Al‑Furqaan: 74
Subject: Asking for Heaven and pride in the Day of Resurrection
رَبَّنا وَ آتِنا ما وَعَدْتَنا عَلى‏ رُسُلِكَ وَ لا تُخْزِنا يَوْمَ الْقِيامَةِ إِنَّكَ لا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعادَ
Our Lord! and grant us what You have promised us through Your Messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Verily You do not break any promise.

Aal‑i‑Imraan: 194
Subject: Asking for welfare and livelihood in the world
فَسَقى‏ لَهُما ثُمَّ تَوَلَّى إِلَى الظِّلِّ فَقالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي لِما أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
So he watered (their flocks) for them, then he turned back to the shade, and said: ‘My Lord! Verily I stand in need of whatever good You may send down to me’.

Al‑Qasas: 24
Subject: Seeking knowledge and a good name and a good end, Asking for a home in Heaven
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْماً وَ أَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ * وَ اجْعَلْ لِي لِسانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ * وَ اجْعَلْنِي مِنْ وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ
My Lord! Bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous! * And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity; * And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss;

Ash‑Shu`ara: 83-85
Subject: Expressing regret and seeking forgiveness
قالا رَبَّنا ظَلَمْنا أَنْفُسَنا وَ إِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنا وَ تَرْحَمْنا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخاسِرِينَ
They said: 'Our Lord! We have been unjust to ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have (not) mercy on us, we shall certainly be of the losers '.
Sayer: Prophet Adam (a) & Hawwa (Adam and Eve)
Al‑A`raf: 23
Subject: Teaching the method of asking for forgiveness and mercy
وَ قُلْ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَ ارْحَمْ وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
And (O Muhammad) say: ‘My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, (for) You are the best of the merciful ones’.

Al‑Muminoon: 118
Subject: Asking for forgiveness
الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنا إِنَّنا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنا ذُنُوبَنا وَ قِنا عَذابَ النَّارِ
Those who say: ' Our Lord! Verily we believe, so forgive us our sins and save us from the torment of the Fire.

Aal‑i‑Imraan: 16
Subject: Seeking forgiveness and mercy
إِنَّهُ كانَ فَرِيقٌ مِنْ عِبادِي يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنا وَ ارْحَمْنا وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Verily there was a party among My servants who used to say: ‘Our Lord! We believe, therefore forgive us and have mercy on us for You are the Best of the mercifulness;

Al‑Muminoon: 109
Subject: Seeking forgiveness for parents
وَ اخْفِضْ لَهُما جَناحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَ قُلْ رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُما كَما رَبَّيانِي صَغِيراً
And out of compassion, lower unto them the wing of humility, and say: ‘My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they cherished me when I was little.

Al‑Israa: 24
Subject: Seeking divine forgiveness and growth and guidance
إِذْ أَوَى الْفِتْيَةُ إِلَى الْكَهْفِ فَقالُوا رَبَّنا آتِنا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَ هَيِّئْ لَنا مِنْ أَمْرِنا رَشَداً
When the youths sought refuge unto the Cave, then they said: ‘Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Your Presence, and provide for us in our affair a right course’.
Sayer: Companions of the Cave (Aṣḥāb al-Kahf)
Al‑Kahf: 10
Subject: Stability in the righteous path, victory over disbelievers
وَ لَمَّا بَرَزُوا لِجالُوتَ وَ جُنُودِهِ قالُوا رَبَّنا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنا صَبْراً وَ ثَبِّتْ أَقْدامَنا وَ انْصُرْنا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكافِرِينَ
So when they encountered Goliath and his troops, they said: 'Our Lord! Pour down upon us patience, and make our steps firm, and help us against the disbelieving people '.
Sayer: Talut's Army
Al‑Baqara: 250
Subject: Asking for forgiveness
قالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَغَفَرَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
(Moses) said: ‘My Lord! Verily I have done harm to myself! Do You then forgive me!’ So (Allah) forgave him. Verily He is the forgiving, the Merciful.

Al‑Qasas: 16
Subject: Asking for escape from the fires of Hell
الَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ قِياماً وَ قُعُوداً وَ عَلى‏ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِي خَلْقِ السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ رَبَّنا ما خَلَقْتَ هذا باطِلاً سُبْحانَكَ فَقِنا عَذابَ النَّارِ
Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and meditate on the creation of the heavens and the earth, (seriously saying) 'Our Lord! You have not created (all) this in vain! Glory be to you! Save us then from the torment of the Fire'.

Aal‑i‑Imraan: 191
Subject: Asking for forgiveness
آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِما أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ كُلٌّ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَ مَلائِكَتِهِ وَ كُتُبِهِ وَ رُسُلِهِ لا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْ رُسُلِهِ وَ قالُوا سَمِعْنا وَ أَطَعْنا غُفْرانَكَ رَبَّنا وَ إِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ
The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord and (so do) the believers. (They) all believe in Allah, His angels, His Books and His Messengers. (They say:) We make no difference between any of His Messengers '; and they say : 'We hear, and obey. Our Lord! Your forgiveness (do we ask), and toward You is the destination.

Al‑Baqara: 285
Subject: Teaching how to pray in asking for knowledge
فَتَعالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ وَ لا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يُقْضى‏ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُ وَ قُلْ رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْماً
So high exalted is Allah, The Ture Sovereign; and do not make haste (O Apostle) with the Qur'an before its revelation is completed unto you, and say: ‘My Lord! increase me in knowledge’.

Taa‑Haa: 114
Subject: The importance of parents' position, gratitude for blessings, and seeking forgiveness (40th birthday prayer)
وَ وَصَّيْنَا الْإِنْسانَ بِوالِدَيْهِ إِحْساناً حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ كُرْهاً وَ وَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهاً وَ حَمْلُهُ وَ فِصالُهُ ثَلاثُونَ شَهْراً حَتَّى إِذا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَ بَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً قالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَ عَلى‏ والِدَيَّ وَ أَنْ أَعْمَلَ صالِحاً تَرْضاهُ وَ أَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي إِنِّي تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَ إِنِّي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
And We have enjoined on man to be dutiful and kind to his parents. His mother bears him with hardship. And she brings him forth with hardship, and the bearing of him, and the weaning of him [lasts] thirty months, till when he attains full strength and reaches forty years, he says: “My Lord! Grant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds, such as to please You, and make my offspring good. Truly, I have turned to You in repentance, and truly, I am one of the Muslims [submitting to Your Will].

Al‑Ahqaf: 15
Subject: Asking for pride and honor on the Day of Judgment
وَ لا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ * يَوْمَ لا يَنْفَعُ مالٌ وَ لا بَنُونَ * إِلاَّ مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
And abase me not on the Day when (men) will be raised up; * The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, * Except for him who comes to Allah with a pure heart.

Ash‑Shu`ara: 87-89
Subject: Seeking forgiveness for believers and cursing wrong-doers
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَ لِوالِدَيَّ وَ لِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِناً وَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِناتِ وَ لا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلاَّ تَباراً
O Lord! Forgive me and my parents and all those who enter my home as believers and all the believing men and women. And to the wrong doers grant no increase but perdition!

Nooh: 28
Subject: The constant prayer of believers to seek guidance
اهْدِنَا الصِّراطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ * صِراطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ لا الضَّالِّينَ
Guide us (O' Lord) on the Straight Path. * The path of those upon whom You have bestowed Your bounties, not (the path) of those inflicted with Your wrath, nor (of those) gone astray.

Al‑Faatiha: 6-7
Subject: Expressing regret and seeking forgiveness
وَ لَمَّا سُقِطَ فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ وَ رَأَوْا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ ضَلُّوا قالُوا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْنا رَبُّنا وَ يَغْفِرْ لَنا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخاسِرِينَ
And when they smote their hands and saw that they had gone astray, they said: ‘Should our Lord have not mercy on us and forgive us (not), we shall certainly be of the losers’,
Sayer: The Calm Worshipers among Prophet Moses' People
Al‑A`raf: 149
Subject: Declaring disgust and seeking salvation from Pharaoh, Asking for a home in Heaven
وَ ضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلاً لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا امْرَأَتَ فِرْعَوْنَ إِذْ قالَتْ رَبِّ ابْنِ لِي عِنْدَكَ بَيْتاً فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَ نَجِّنِي مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ وَ عَمَلِهِ وَ نَجِّنِي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
And Allah has set forth an example for those who believe: the wife of Pharaoh, when she said: “My Lord! Build for me a home with You in Paradise and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds and save me from the wrong doing people.

At‑Tahrim: 11
Subject: Perseverance of the magicians against Pharaoh
وَ ما تَنْقِمُ مِنَّا إِلاَّ أَنْ آمَنَّا بِآياتِ رَبِّنا لَمَّا جاءَتْنا رَبَّنا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنا صَبْراً وَ تَوَفَّنا مُسْلِمِينَ
And you do not take revenge upon us except because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us.’ ‘Our Lord! Pour out upon us patience, and cause us to die in submission’.
Sayer: The repentant magicians
Al‑A`raf: 126
Subject: Asking for salvation from Hell
وَ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذابَ جَهَنَّمَ إِنَّ عَذابَها كانَ غَراماً * إِنَّها ساءَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَ مُقاماً
And those who say: ‘O’ our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell, verily the torment of it is a lasting affliction; * Verily it is an evil abode and (an evil) station.
Sayer: Believers
Al‑Furqaan: 65-66
Subject: Seeking forgiveness for oneself and believers and asking for inner purity towards others
وَ الَّذِينَ جاؤُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنا وَ لِإِخْوانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونا بِالْإِيمانِ وَ لا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنا غِلاًّ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنا إِنَّكَ رَؤُفٌ رَحِيمٌ
And those who came after them [the Emigrants and the Helpers] say: “Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are verily full of kindness, Most Merciful.”
Sayer: Believers who came later into the faith
Al‑Hashr: 10
Subject: Proving thyself among the believers
رَبَّنا آمَنَّا بِما أَنْزَلْتَ وَ اتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ
Our Lord! We believe in what You have revealed and we follow the Messenger, so record us among the witnesses.
Sayer: Apostles
Aal‑i‑Imraan: 53
Subject: Seeking mercy in this world and the hereafter
وَ اكْتُبْ لَنا فِي هذِهِ الدُّنْيا حَسَنَةً وَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِنَّا هُدْنا إِلَيْكَ قالَ عَذابِي أُصِيبُ بِهِ مَنْ أَشاءُ وَ رَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْ‏ءٍ فَسَأَكْتُبُها لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَ يُؤْتُونَ الزَّكاةَ وَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ بِآياتِنا يُؤْمِنُونَ
And prescribe goodness for us in this world and in the Hereafter, (for) verily we have come back to You (repentantly). He (the Lord) said: ‘My chastisement, I will afflict with it whom I please, but My mercy embraces all things. Soon I shall prescribe it for those who keep from evil and pay the alms and those who believe in Our signs.

Al‑A`raf: 156
Subject: Asking for a good end, God's praise
رَبِّ قَدْ آتَيْتَنِي مِنَ الْمُلْكِ وَ عَلَّمْتَنِي مِنْ تَأْوِيلِ الْأَحادِيثِ فاطِرَ السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيا وَ الْآخِرَةِ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِماً وَ أَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
O my Lord! You have given me to rule, and have taught me the interpretation of dreams. (O!) Originator of the heavens and the earth! You are my Protector in the world and the Hereafter. Cause me die a Muslim (in submission (unto you) and join me with the righteous.

He (Moses) said (praying): ‘O’ Lord! forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your Mercy, and You are the most merciful of the merciful ones’.

And say: ‘My Lord! I seek refuge in You from the suggestions of Satans, * And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they attend me’.

Then Noah (as) invoked his Lord [saying]: "I have been overcome, so render [me] assistance!"

Subject: Reliance on God, asking for escape from oppressors and disbelievers
فَقالُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنا رَبَّنا لا تَجْعَلْنا فِتْنَةً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ * وَ نَجِّنا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْكافِرِينَ
Then they said: ‘In Allah (alone) we have put our trust. ‘Our Lord! Make us not (
Subject) to a trial for the unjust people’. * And deliver us by your Mercy from the disbelieving people.

Yunus: 85-86
Subject: Expressing your troubles, seeking God's help
وَ أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نادى‏ رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَ أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ * فَاسْتَجَبْنا لَهُ فَكَشَفْنا ما بِهِ مِنْ ضُرٍّ وَ آتَيْناهُ أَهْلَهُ وَ مِثْلَهُمْ مَعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِنا وَ ذِكْرى‏ لِلْعابِدِينَ
And (remember) Job when he called unto his Lord (saying:) ‘Verily distress has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful ones’. * So We responded to him (his prayer) and We removed the distress that was upon him, and We restored his family to him, and the like of them with them; a mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers.

Al‑Anbiyaa: 83-84
Subject: Seeking escape from oppressors and seeking the guardianship and help of God in the world
وَ ما لَكُمْ لا تُقاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الرِّجالِ وَ النِّساءِ وَ الْوِلْدانِ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنا أَخْرِجْنا مِنْ هذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ الظَّالِمِ أَهْلُها وَ اجْعَلْ لَنا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ وَلِيًّا وَ اجْعَلْ لَنا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ نَصِيراً
And what has happened to you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and for the weak among men, women and children who say: 'Our Lord! Take us out of this town whose people are oppressors, and appoint for us from You a guardian, and appoint for us from You a helper!

An‑Nisaa: 75
Subject: Asking for God's judgment and help and God's praise
قالَ رَبِّ احْكُمْ بِالْحَقِّ وَ رَبُّنَا الرَّحْمنُ الْمُسْتَعانُ عَلى‏ ما تَصِفُونَ
He said: ‘O my Lord! Judge You with truth! And our Lord is the Beneficent, Whose help is sought against that which you ascribe (unto Him)’.

Subject: Teaching prayers to the Prophet and expressing God's absolute power
قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ مالِكَ الْمُلْكِ تُؤْتِي الْمُلْكَ مَنْ تَشاءُ وَ تَنْزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّنْ تَشاءُ وَ تُعِزُّ مَنْ تَشاءُ وَ تُذِلُّ مَنْ تَشاءُ بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ إِنَّكَ عَلى‏ كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ قَدِيرٌ * تُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهارِ وَ تُولِجُ النَّهارَ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَ تُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَ تُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَيِّ وَ تَرْزُقُ مَنْ تَشاءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسابٍ
Say: ' O' Allah! Master of the Kingdom! You shower the kingdom upon whom You please and take away the kingdom from whom You please! and You honour whom You please and abase whom You please; all goodness is in your hand. Verily You are All-Powerful over all things. * You cause the night to pass into the day and You cause the day to pass into the night, and You bring forth the living from the dead and You bring forth the dead from the living, and You provide with sustenance for whom You will without measure.

Aal‑i‑Imraan: 26-27
Subject: Expressing regret, seeking forgiveness, and asking for blessings
قالُوا يا وَيْلَنا إِنَّا كُنَّا طاغِينَ * عَسى‏ رَبُّنا أَنْ يُبْدِلَنا خَيْراً مِنْها إِنَّا إِلى‏ رَبِّنا راغِبُونَ
They said: “Woe to us! We were disobedient. * We hope that our Lord will [forgive us and] give us in exchange something better. Truly, we turn to our Lord.

Al‑Qalam: 31-32
Subject: Salvation from the punishment in the hereafter
رَبَّنا إِنَّكَ مَنْ تُدْخِلِ النَّارَ فَقَدْ أَخْزَيْتَهُ وَ ما لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنْصارٍ
Our Lord! Anyone You cause to enter the (Hell) Fire, surely You have put him to disgrace; and the unjust will have no helpers.

Subject: Divine praise
رَبَّنا إِنَّكَ جامِعُ النَّاسِ لِيَوْمٍ لا رَيْبَ فِيهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعادَ
Our Lord! verily You are the Gatherer of mankind unto a Day in which there is no doubt; for surely Allah never fails (His) promise.

فَتَبَسَّمَ ضاحِكاً مِنْ قَوْلِها وَ قالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَ عَلى‏ والِدَيَّ وَ أَنْ أَعْمَلَ صالِحاً تَرْضاهُ وَ أَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Then he smiled, laughing at its words, and said: ‘My Lord! Dispose me that I may be thankful for Your bounty, which You have bestowed on me and my parents, and that I may do righteousness such as You are pleased with, and admit me, by Your mercy, among Your righteous servants’.

Subject: Asking for guidance, seeking forgiveness
وَ اخْتارَ مُوسى‏ قَوْمَهُ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلاً لِمِيقاتِنا فَلَمَّا أَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ قالَ رَبِّ لَوْ شِئْتَ أَهْلَكْتَهُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَ إِيَّايَ أَ تُهْلِكُنا بِما فَعَلَ السُّفَهاءُ مِنَّا إِنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ فِتْنَتُكَ تُضِلُّ بِها مَنْ تَشاءُ وَ تَهْدِي مَنْ تَشاءُ أَنْتَ وَلِيُّنا فَاغْفِرْ لَنا وَ ارْحَمْنا وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْغافِرِينَ
And Moses chose seventy men from his people for Our tryst, and when the earthquake overtook them, he said: ‘O’ Lord! had You pleased, You could have destroyed them and me before. Will You destroy us because of what the fools of us have done? It is naught but Your trial, whereby you cause to stray whomever You wish and guide whomever You wish. You are our master, so forgive us and have mercy on us, for You are the best of the forgivers.

قالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْئَلَكَ ما لَيْسَ لِي بِهِ عِلْمٌ وَ إِلاَّ تَغْفِرْ لِي وَ تَرْحَمْنِي أَكُنْ مِنَ الْخاسِرِينَ
He (Noah) said: ‘O my Lord! Verily I seek refuge in You, lest I should ask You (for) that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me I should be of the losers’.

قالُوا سُبْحانَ رَبِّنا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظالِمِينَ
They said: “Glorified is Our Lord! Verily, we were wrong-doers.”

رَبَّنا لا تَجْعَلْنا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَ اغْفِرْ لَنا رَبَّنا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
Our Lord! Make us not a means of error for the disbelievers but forgive us, Our Lord! Indeed, You are the Omnipotent, the All-Wise.

Al‑Mumtahana: 5
Subject: Seeking stability in your and your lineage's religion, asking for forgiveness
رَبَّنا وَ اجْعَلْنا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِنا أُمَّةً مُسْلِمَةً لَكَ وَ أَرِنا مَناسِكَنا وَ تُبْ عَلَيْنا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ
'Our Lord, make us submissive (Muslims) to You, and of our progeny an Ummah (a nation) submissive to You, and show us our ways of worship, and turn to us (mercifully); for surely You are the Oft-Returning, the Most Merciful’.
Sayer: Prophet Ibrahim (a) (Abraham) & Prophet Ismail (a) (Ishmael)
Al‑Baqara: 128
Subject: Divine glorification, asking for forgiveness
وَ لَمَّا جاءَ مُوسى‏ لِمِيقاتِنا وَ كَلَّمَهُ رَبُّهُ قالَ رَبِّ أَرِنِي أَنْظُرْ إِلَيْكَ قالَ لَنْ تَرانِي وَ لكِنِ انْظُرْ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَإِنِ اسْتَقَرَّ مَكانَهُ فَسَوْفَ تَرانِي فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّى رَبُّهُ لِلْجَبَلِ جَعَلَهُ دَكًّا وَ خَرَّ مُوسى‏ صَعِقاً فَلَمَّا أَفاقَ قالَ سُبْحانَكَ تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَ أَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
And when Moses came to Our appointed tryst and his Lord spoke with him, he said: ‘My Lord, show me (Yourself), that I may look towards You!’ He (Allah) said: ‘Never shall you see Me, but look towards the mountain: if it remains firm in its place, then you will see Me.’ So when his Lord manifested (His) glory to the mountain, He sent it crashing down, and Moses fell down senseless. Then when he recovered, he said: ‘Glory be to You! I turn to You (repentant), and I am the first of the believers’.

Subject: Expressing Satan's trouble and torment
وَ اذْكُرْ عَبْدَنا أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نادى‏ رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الشَّيْطانُ بِنُصْبٍ وَ عَذابٍ
And remember Our servant Job, when he called to his Lord ‘Verily, Satan has afflicted me with toil and torment’.

Subject: The influential role of prayers in educating humans, Asking for a successor
إِذْ نادى‏ رَبَّهُ نِداءً خَفِيًّا * قالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَهَنَ الْعَظْمُ مِنِّي وَ اشْتَعَلَ الرَّأْسُ شَيْباً وَ لَمْ أَكُنْ بِدُعائِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّا * وَ إِنِّي خِفْتُ الْمَوالِيَ مِنْ وَرائِي وَ كانَتِ امْرَأَتِي عاقِراً فَهَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ وَلِيًّا * يَرِثُنِي وَ يَرِثُ مِنْ آلِ يَعْقُوبَ وَ اجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيًّا
When he called upon his Lord in secret. * He said: ‘My Lord! verily my bones are weakened and my head is all aflame with hoariness, and, my Lord! I have never been unblessed in prayer to You. * And verily I fear my kindred after I am gone, and my wife is barren. So grant me from your presence a successor (a child). * (One that) shall be my inheritor and the inheritor of the posterity of Jacob; and make him, my Lord, well-pleasing.

Subject: Seeking help from God and asking for salvation from oppressors
فَخَرَجَ مِنْها خائِفاً يَتَرَقَّبُ قالَ رَبِّ نَجِّنِي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
So he departed there from, fearing, awaiting, (and) he said: ‘My Lord! Deliver me from the unjust people’.

Said (Noah): ‘My Lord! Verily my people have belied me, * Judge You, then, between me and them, and deliver me and the believers that are with me’.

Subject: Asking for distance from oppressors in the hereafter
قُلْ رَبِّ إِمَّا تُرِيَنِّي ما يُوعَدُونَ * رَبِّ فَلا تَجْعَلْنِي فِي الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
Say: ‘My Lord! If You show me what (chastisement) they are promised, ’ * My Lord! Then set me, not among the unjust people.

لِتَسْتَوُوا عَلى‏ ظُهُورِهِ ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا اسْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَ تَقُولُوا سُبْحانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنا هذا وَ ما كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ * وَ إِنَّا إِلى‏ رَبِّنا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ
In order that you may mount on their backs and then may remember the Favor of your Lord when you mount thereon and say “Glory to Him Who has
Subjected this to us and we could never have it [by making efforts].” * And indeed to our Lord we shall return.

Az‑Zukhruf: 13-14
Subject: Prayer is seeking a helper and brother, divine glorification
وَ اجْعَلْ لِي وَزِيراً مِنْ أَهْلِي * هارُونَ أَخِي * اشْدُدْ بِهِ أَزْرِي * وَ أَشْرِكْهُ فِي أَمْرِي * كَيْ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيراً * وَ نَذْكُرَكَ كَثِيراً * إِنَّكَ كُنْتَ بِنا بَصِيراً
And appoint for me an assistant from my family, * Aaron, my brother; * Strengthen my back by him, * And associate him (with me) in my affair. * So that we glorify You much, * And remember You abundantly * Verily You are ever seeing of us.

Taa‑Haa: 29-35
Subject: Asking for judgment and help from God, escaping from the oppressors
قالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي لا أَمْلِكُ إِلاَّ نَفْسِي وَ أَخِي فَافْرُقْ بَيْنَنا وَ بَيْنَ الْقَوْمِ الْفاسِقِينَ
He (Moses) said: ' O' my Lord! I have power over none but myself and my brother, therefore make a separation between us and these rebellious people.

Al‑Maaida: 25
Subject: Asking for judgment and help from God, God's praise and reliance
قَدِ افْتَرَيْنا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِباً إِنْ عُدْنا فِي مِلَّتِكُمْ بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجَّانَا اللَّهُ مِنْها وَ ما يَكُونُ لَنا أَنْ نَعُودَ فِيها إِلاَّ أَنْ يَشاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّنا وَسِعَ رَبُّنا كُلَّ شَيْ‏ءٍ عِلْماً عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنا رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنا وَ بَيْنَ قَوْمِنا بِالْحَقِّ وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْفاتِحِينَ
We should have forged a lie against Allah if we returned into your creed after Allah delivered us from it. It is not for us to return into it, unless Allah, our Lord, (so) will. Our Lord comprehends all things in His knowledge. In Allah we have put our trust. Our Lord! Decide between us and our people with truth, and You are the best of deciders.

Al‑A`raf: 89
Subject: Being thankful for your blessings, Seeking escape from oppressors
قالَ رَبِّ بِما أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ فَلَنْ أَكُونَ ظَهِيراً لِلْمُجْرِمِينَ
He said: “My Lord! For the bounty You have bestowed on me, never shall I be a supporter of the guilty’.

Subject: The acceptance of actions
وَ إِذْ يَرْفَعُ إِبْراهِيمُ الْقَواعِدَ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ وَ إِسْماعِيلُ رَبَّنا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
And (remember) when Abraham and Ismail raised up the foundations of the House; (saying): ‘Our Lord,! Accept (this service) from us; for surely You are All-Hearing, All-Knowing'.

Al‑Baqara: 127
Subject: Nosuh's repentance, Seeking forgiveness, enlightenment, and exaltation in the hereafter
يا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا تُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ تَوْبَةً نَصُوحاً عَسى‏ رَبُّكُمْ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ عَنْكُمْ سَيِّئاتِكُمْ وَ يُدْخِلَكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهارُ يَوْمَ لا يُخْزِي اللَّهُ النَّبِيَّ وَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ نُورُهُمْ يَسْعى‏ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَ بِأَيْمانِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنا أَتْمِمْ لَنا نُورَنا وَ اغْفِرْ لَنا إِنَّكَ عَلى‏ كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ قَدِيرٌ
O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will expiate from you your sins and admit you into Gardens beneath which rivers flow - the Day that Allah will not disgrace the Prophet and those who believe in him. Their Light will run forward before them and in their right hands. They will say: “Our Lord! Keep perfect our Light for us and grant us forgiveness. Verily, You are Able to do all things.”

Subject: Reliance on God
قَدْ كانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فِي إِبْراهِيمَ وَ الَّذِينَ مَعَهُ إِذْ قالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَآؤُا مِنْكُمْ وَ مِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ كَفَرْنا بِكُمْ وَ بَدا بَيْنَنا وَ بَيْنَكُمُ الْعَداوَةُ وَ الْبَغْضاءُ أَبَداً حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ إِلاَّ قَوْلَ إِبْراهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ لَأَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ لَكَ وَ ما أَمْلِكُ لَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ رَبَّنا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنا وَ إِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنا وَ إِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ
Verily, there has been an excellent example for you in Abraham and those with him when they said unto their people: “Indeed we dislike you and whatever you worship besides Allah, we have rejected you and there will be between us and you enmity and hatred for ever until you believe in Allah Alone” except the saying of Abraham to his father: “Indeed, I will ask forgiveness [from Allah] for you but I have no power to do anything for you before Allah.” “Our Lord! In You we put our trust and to You we turn in repentance and to You is our final return.

رَبَّنا إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ ما نُخْفِي وَ ما نُعْلِنُ وَ ما يَخْفى‏ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَ لا فِي السَّماءِ
Our Lord! Verily, You know whatever we hide and whatever we manifest, and nothing in the earth nor anything in the heaven is hidden from Allah.

Subject: Teaching the prayer of asking for a blessed household
وَ قُلْ رَبِّ أَنْزِلْنِي مُنْزَلاً مُبارَكاً وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنْزِلِينَ
And say: ‘My Lord! Cause me to land with a blessed landing, for You are the Best to cause to land’.

Subject: Proving thyself among the believers
وَ إِذا سَمِعُوا ما أُنْزِلَ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ تَرى‏ أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُوا مِنَ الْحَقِّ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنا آمَنَّا فَاكْتُبْنا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ
And when they hear what has been sent down to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they recognize of the Truth. They say: 'Our Lord! we believe, so write us down with the witnesses (of Truth).

Subject: Teaching prayers to the Prophet, Seeking God's judgment and help
قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ فاطِرَ السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ عالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَ الشَّهادَةِ أَنْتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبادِكَ فِي ما كانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
Say: “O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth! Omniscient of the unseen and the seen! You shall arbiter between your servants about that wherein they used to differ [at all times].”

Az‑Zumar: 46
Subject: Asking for security and livelihood for the people of Mecca
وَ إِذْ قالَ إِبْراهِيمُ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هذا بَلَداً آمِناً وَ ارْزُقْ أَهْلَهُ مِنَ الثَّمَراتِ مَنْ آمَنَ مِنْهُمْ بِاللَّهِ وَ الْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ قالَ وَ مَنْ كَفَرَ فَأُمَتِّعُهُ قَلِيلاً ثُمَّ أَضْطَرُّهُ إِلى‏ عَذابِ النَّارِ وَ بِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ
And (remember) when Abraham said: ‘My Lord, make this a secure City and provide its people with fruits such of them that believe in Allah and the Last Day.' He said: 'And whoever disbelieves, I shall let him enjoy himself for a little while, then I shall drive him to the Punishment of Fire -and an evil destination it is! '

Al‑Baqara: 126
Subject: Mecca's security, Asking for your and your children's religious stability, Seeking guidance
وَ إِذْ قالَ إِبْراهِيمُ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَذَا الْبَلَدَ آمِناً وَ اجْنُبْنِي وَ بَنِيَّ أَنْ نَعْبُدَ الْأَصْنامَ
And (remember) when Abraham said: ‘My Lord, make this city secure and distance me and my children from worshipping the idols’.

Subject: Seeking livelihood for the people of Mecca, Asking for the success of your family
رَبَّنا إِنِّي أَسْكَنْتُ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي بِوادٍ غَيْرِ ذِي زَرْعٍ عِنْدَ بَيْتِكَ الْمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنا لِيُقِيمُوا الصَّلاةَ فَاجْعَلْ أَفْئِدَةً مِنَ النَّاسِ تَهْوِي إِلَيْهِمْ وَ ارْزُقْهُمْ مِنَ الثَّمَراتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْكُرُونَ
Our Lord! Verily I have settled (a part) of my offspring in a valley without cultivation near Your Sacred House, in order, Our Lord! that they may establish prayer; therefore, make the hearts of some people yearn towards them, and provide them with fruits so that they may be grateful.

Subject: Rescue from oppressors
قالا رَبَّنا إِنَّنا نَخافُ أَنْ يَفْرُطَ عَلَيْنا أَوْ أَنْ يَطْغى‏
They (Moses and Aaron) said: ‘Our Lord! Verily we fear that he may exceed against us, or that he may wax insolent.

Subject: Asking for distance from oppressors in the hereafter
وَ إِذا صُرِفَتْ أَبْصارُهُمْ تِلْقاءَ أَصْحابِ النَّارِ قالُوا رَبَّنا لا تَجْعَلْنا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
And when their eyes shall be turned toward the inhabitants of the Fire, they shall say: 'Our Lord! Place us not with the unjust people.

Al‑A`raf: 47
Subject: Human nature's attention to God in times of danger
هُوَ الَّذِي يُسَيِّرُكُمْ فِي الْبَرِّ وَ الْبَحْرِ حَتَّى إِذا كُنْتُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ وَ جَرَيْنَ بِهِمْ بِرِيحٍ طَيِّبَةٍ وَ فَرِحُوا بِها جاءَتْها رِيحٌ عاصِفٌ وَ جاءَهُمُ الْمَوْجُ مِنْ كُلِّ مَكانٍ وَ ظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ أُحِيطَ بِهِمْ دَعَوُا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ لَئِنْ أَنْجَيْتَنا مِنْ هذِهِ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ
He it is Who enables you to traverse through land and sea; so that you are in the ships, and they sail with them with a favourable wind, and they rejoice thereat. Then there comes upon them a stormy wind and the waves come on them from all sides, and they think that they are encompassed therewith, they call upon Allah, making their faith pure for Him, (saying): ‘If You deliver us from this, we shall surely be of the grateful ones’.

Yunus: 22
Subject: Seeking the destruction of disbelievers and cursing them
وَ قالَ نُوحٌ رَبِّ لا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكافِرِينَ دَيَّاراً * إِنَّكَ إِنْ تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبادَكَ وَ لا يَلِدُوا إِلاَّ فاجِراً كَفَّاراً
And Noah said: “O Lord! Leave not one single disbeliever on the earth! * Since if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants, and they will beget none but the wicked and the disbelieving.

Nooh: 26-27
Subject: Seeking forgiveness for your children
وَ نادى‏ نُوحٌ رَبَّهُ فَقالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ ابْنِي مِنْ أَهْلِي وَ إِنَّ وَعْدَكَ الْحَقُّ وَ أَنْتَ أَحْكَمُ الْحاكِمِينَ
And Noah called unto his Lord, and said: “O my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family, and certainly Your promise is true and You are the Most just of Judges.

Subject: Asking for salvation from Hell
قالُوا رَبَّنا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنا شِقْوَتُنا وَ كُنَّا قَوْماً ضالِّينَ * رَبَّنا أَخْرِجْنا مِنْها فَإِنْ عُدْنا فَإِنَّا ظالِمُونَ
They will say: ‘Our Lord! Our adversity conquered us, and we were a people gone astray. * Our Lord! bring us forth out of it! Then if we return (to evil) then verily we shall be unjust.

Al‑Muminoon: 106-107
Subject: Seeking forgiveness for your father
وَ اغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّهُ كانَ مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ
And forgive my father, verily, he is of those astray.

Subject: Asking for salvation from Hell
رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
[People will say]: “Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall believe!”

Ad‑Dukhaan: 12
Subject: Seeking heavenly food and sustenance
قالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنا أَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنا مائِدَةً مِنَ السَّماءِ تَكُونُ لَنا عِيداً لِأَوَّلِنا وَ آخِرِنا وَ آيَةً مِنْكَ وَ ارْزُقْنا وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ
Jesus, son of Mary, said: 'O' Allah, our Lord! send down to us a table from the sky, to be a festival for us, for the first of us and for the last of us and a sign from You; and provide us (with our) sustenance, for You are the best of sustainers.

Al‑Maaida: 114
Subject: Oblation and prayer for its acceptance
إِذْ قالَتِ امْرَأَتُ عِمْرانَ رَبِّ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ لَكَ ما فِي بَطْنِي مُحَرَّراً فَتَقَبَّلْ مِنِّي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
(Remember) when the wife of Imran said: ' My Lord! Verily I vowed to You what is within my womb to be (dedicated) for You (for Your service) freed; therefore accept from me; verily you are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing'.

Aal‑i‑Imraan: 35
Subject: Expressing regret and seeking forgiveness
قِيلَ لَهَا ادْخُلِي الصَّرْحَ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً وَ كَشَفَتْ عَنْ ساقَيْها قالَ إِنَّهُ صَرْحٌ مُمَرَّدٌ مِنْ قَوارِيرَ قالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي وَ أَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمانَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِينَ
It was said to her: ‘Enter the palace,’ but when she saw it she deemed it to be a great expanse of water and bared her legs. (Solomon) said: ‘Verily this is but a palace smoothed of crystal’. She said: ‘My Lord! Verily I have been unjust to myself, and I surrender with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds’.

An‑Naml: 44
Subject: Prayer for the selection of a prophet from their generation
رَبَّنا وَ ابْعَثْ فِيهِمْ رَسُولاً مِنْهُمْ يَتْلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ آياتِكَ وَ يُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتابَ وَ الْحِكْمَةَ وَ يُزَكِّيهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
'Our Lord, send amongst them an Apostle of their own who shall recite unto them Your revelations, teach them the Book and the Wisdom, and purify them; for surely You are Almighty, All-Wise’.

Al‑Baqara: 129
Subject: Asking for forgiveness, seeking an unparalleled government (asking for forgiveness before praying)
قالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَ هَبْ لِي مُلْكاً لا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
He said: ‘My Lord! Forgive me and grant me a dominion such as shall not be fit anyone after me, verily You are the Bounteous (without measure).

Saad: 35
Subject: Taking refuge in God
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‏ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ * مِنْ شَرِّ ما خَلَقَ * وَ مِنْ شَرِّ غاسِقٍ إِذا وَقَبَ * وَ مِنْ شَرِّ النَّفَّاثاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ * وَ مِنْ شَرِّ حاسِدٍ إِذا حَسَدَ
Say: I take refuge with the Lord of the dawn, * From the evil of what He has created, * And from the evil of the dark night when it comes, * And from the evil of those who blow on knots (practice Secret Arts), * And from the evil of the envious (one) when he envies.

Al‑Falaq: 1-5
Subject: Taking refuge in God
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ‏ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ * مَلِكِ النَّاسِ * إِلهِ النَّاسِ * مِنْ شَرِّ الْوَسْواسِ الْخَنَّاسِ * الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ * مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَ النَّاسِ
Say: I take refuge with the Lord of Mankind, * The King of Mankind, * The God of Mankind, * From the evil of the slinking whisperer, * Who whispers evil into the hearts of Mankind, * From among Jinn and Mankind.

An‑Naas: 1-6
Subject: Seeking forgiveness in the hereafter and in Heaven
رَبَّنا وَ أَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ الَّتِي وَعَدْتَهُمْ وَ مَنْ صَلَحَ مِنْ آبائِهِمْ وَ أَزْواجِهِمْ وَ ذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ * وَ قِهِمُ السَّيِّئاتِ وَ مَنْ تَقِ السَّيِّئاتِ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهُ وَ ذلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
Our Lord! And make them enter the abodes in gardens which you have promised them and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Indeed, You are the Omnipotent, the All-Wise. * “And [O Lord!] save them from the sins [and the recompense of their evil deeds], and whomsoever You save from the sins that Day, him indeed, You have taken into Mercy.” And that is the supreme deliverance.
Sayer: Angels carrying the throne of God
Ghaafir: 8-9
Subject: Start with divine glorification and then ask forgiveness for believers
الَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ الْعَرْشَ وَ مَنْ حَوْلَهُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْ‏ءٍ رَحْمَةً وَ عِلْماً فَاغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تابُوا وَ اتَّبَعُوا سَبِيلَكَ وَ قِهِمْ عَذابَ الْجَحِيمِ
Those who bear the Throne and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness [of God] for those who believe [saying]: “Our Lord! You comprehend all things in Mercy and Knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your Path and save them from the torment of Fire!

Ghaafir: 7
Subject: Seeking forgiveness for believers and their parents and wives and children
رَبَّنا وَ أَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ الَّتِي وَعَدْتَهُمْ وَ مَنْ صَلَحَ مِنْ آبائِهِمْ وَ أَزْواجِهِمْ وَ ذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
Our Lord! And make them enter the abodes in gardens which you have promised them and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Indeed, You are the Omnipotent, the All-Wise.

Ghaafir: 8
Subject: Seeking help from God and asking for salvation from people with evil spirits
قالَ رَبِّ السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِي إِلَيْهِ وَ إِلاَّ تَصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُنَّ أَصْبُ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَ أَكُنْ مِنَ الْجاهِلِينَ
He said: ‘My Lord! The prison is dearer to me than that to which they invite me; and if You turn not their guile from me, I may incline towards them and become of the ignorant ones’.
Sayer: Prophet Yusuf (a) (Joseph)
Yusuf: 33
Subject: Seeking worldly punishment for the misguided and cursing them
وَ قالَ مُوسى‏ رَبَّنا إِنَّكَ آتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَ مَلَأَهُ زِينَةً وَ أَمْوالاً فِي الْحَياةِ الدُّنْيا رَبَّنا لِيُضِلُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِكَ رَبَّنَا اطْمِسْ عَلى‏ أَمْوالِهِمْ وَ اشْدُدْ عَلى‏ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَلا يُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى يَرَوُا الْعَذابَ الْأَلِيمَ
And Moses said: ‘Our Lord! Verily You have given to Pharaoh and his chiefs adornment and wealth in the life of this world, Our Lord! so that they mislead (men) from Your Path. Our Lord! Destroy their wealth, and harden their hearts, so they will not believe until they see the painful penalty’.
Sayer: Prophet Musa (a) (Moses)
Yunus: 88
Subject: Asking for a sign to be grateful for a miracle
قالَ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ لِي آيَةً قالَ آيَتُكَ أَلاَّ تُكَلِّمَ النَّاسَ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِلاَّ رَمْزاً وَ اذْكُرْ رَبَّكَ كَثِيراً وَ سَبِّحْ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَ الْإِبْكارِ
He (Zakariya) said: 'My lord! Appoint a token for me'. He said: ' The token for you (will be) that you cannot speak unto human beings for three days except by signals; and remember your Lord immensely and glorify (Him) in the evening and early morning.

Aal‑i‑Imraan: 41
Subject: Asking for a sign to be grateful for a miracle
قالَ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ لِي آيَةً قالَ آيَتُكَ أَلاَّ تُكَلِّمَ النَّاسَ ثَلاثَ لَيالٍ سَوِيًّا
He (Zachariah) said: ‘My Lord! appoint for me a sign.’ Said He: ‘Your sign is that you shall not be able to speak to the people for three nights, though sound (in health).
Sayer: Prophet Zakariya (a) (Zechariah)
Maryam: 10
Subject: Asking for respite during death
حَتَّى إِذا جاءَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قالَ رَبِّ ارْجِعُونِ * لَعَلِّي أَعْمَلُ صالِحاً فِيما تَرَكْتُ كَلاَّ إِنَّها كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قائِلُها وَ مِنْ وَرائِهِمْ بَرْزَخٌ إِلى‏ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
Until, when death comes unto one of them, he says: ‘My Lord! Send me back again, * That I might do righteousness in that which I have left behind!’ Nay! It is but a (mere) word that he says; and, behind them, is a partition until the Day when they shall be raised up.

Al‑Muminoon: 99-100
Subject: Asking for respite during the punishment of the Day of Resurrection
وَ أَنْذِرِ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمُ الْعَذابُ فَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا رَبَّنا أَخِّرْنا إِلى‏ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ نُجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَ نَتَّبِعِ الرُّسُلَ أَ وَ لَمْ تَكُونُوا أَقْسَمْتُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ ما لَكُمْ مِنْ زَوالٍ
And warn the people as to the day when the chastisement comes to them; then those who did injustice will say: ‘Our Lord, defer us to a near term, (that) we will answer Your call and follow the messengers’. (They will be told:) ‘Did you not swear before that there would be no end for you?’

Ibrahim: 44
Subject: Confessing your following of disbeliever leaders, Cursing their leaders
وَ قالُوا رَبَّنا إِنَّا أَطَعْنا سادَتَنا وَ كُبَراءَنا فَأَضَلُّونَا السَّبِيلا * رَبَّنا آتِهِمْ ضِعْفَيْنِ مِنَ الْعَذابِ وَ الْعَنْهُمْ لَعْناً كَبِيراً
And they shall say: ‘O our Lord! Verily we obeyed our chiefs and our elders, and they led us astray from the path’. * O’ our Lord! Give them double chastisement and curse them with a great curse.
Sayer: Disbelievers
Al‑Ahzaab: 67-68
Subject: Cursing their leaders
قالُوا رَبَّنا مَنْ قَدَّمَ لَنا هذا فَزِدْهُ عَذاباً ضِعْفاً فِي النَّارِ
They say: ‘Our Lord! Whoever has forwarded this for us, increase him a twofold chastisement in the Fire’.

Dua # 1 Sura Fateha – Ayah # 1

1:1. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

Dua # 2 Sura Baqara – Ayat # 45 & 46.

2:45. And seek assistance through patience and prayer, and most surely it is a hard thing except for the humble ones,
2:46. Who know that they shall meet their Lord and that they shall return to Him.

Dua # 3 Sura Baqara – Ayah # 107.

2:107. Do you not know that Allah’s is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and that besides Allah you have no guardian or helper?

Dua # 4 Sura Baqara – Ayah # 285.

2:285. The apostle believes in what has been revealed to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers; they all believe in Allah and His angels and His books and His apostles; We make no difference between any of His apostles; and they say: We hear and obey, our Lord! Thy forgiveness (do we crave), and to Thee is the eventual course.

Dua # 6 Sura Baqara – Ayah # 156.

2:156. Who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are Allah’s and to Him we shall surely return.

Dua # 7 Sura Baqara – Ayah # 201.

2:201. And there are some among them who say: Our Lord! grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save us from the chastisement of the fire.

Dua # 5 Sura Ale Imran – Ayah # 53.

3:53. Our Lord! we believe in what Thou hast revealed and we follow the apostle, so write us down with those who bear witness.

Dua # 8 Sura Ale Imran – Ayat # 8 & 9.

3:8. Our Lord! make not our hearts to deviate after Thou hast guided us aright, and grant us from Thee mercy; surely Thou art the most liberal Giver.
3:9. Our Lord! surely Thou art the Gatherer of men on a day about which there is no doubt; surely Allah will not fail (His) promise.

Dua # 9 Sura An’am – Ayat # 161 thru 165.

6:161. Say: Surely, (as for) me, my Lord has guided me to the right path; (to) a most right religion, the faith of Ibrahim the upright one, and he was not of the polytheists.
6.162. Say. Surely my prayer and my sacrifice and my life and my death are (all) for Allah, the Lord of the worlds;
6:163: No associate has He; and this am I commanded, and I am the first of those who submit.
6:164: Say: What! shall I seek a Lord other than Allah? And He is the Lord of all things; and no soul earns (evil) but against itself, and no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another; then to your Lord is your return, so He will inform you of that in which you differed.
6:165: And He it is Who has made you successors in the land and raised some of you above others by (various) grades, that He might try you by what He has given you; surely your Lord is quick to requite (evil), and He is most surely the Forgiving, the Merciful.

Dua # 10 Sura Rum – Ayah # 26

30:26. And His is whosoever is in the heavens and the earth; all are obedient to Him.

Dua # 11 Sura Yasin(36/22-34) – Ayat 22 thru 24.

36.22: And what reason have I that I should not serve Him Who brought me into existence? And to Him you shall be brought back;
36.23: What! shall I take besides Him gods whose intercession, If the Beneficent God should desire to afflict me with a harm, shall not avail me aught, nor shall they be able to deliver me?
36.24: In that case I shall most surely be in clear error: 25 Surely I believe in your Lord, therefore hear me. 26 It was said: Enter the garden. He said: O would that my people had known

Dua # 12 Sura Ha-Mim – Ayat 30 thru 32.

42:30. And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults).
42:31. And you cannot escape in the earth, and you shall not have a guardian or a helper besides Allah.

Dua # 13 Sura Hashr ( 59) – Ayat 22 thru 24 and

59.22: He is Allah besides Whom there is no god; the Knower of the unseen and the seen; He is the Beneficent, the Merciful
59.23: He is Allah, besides Whom there is no god; the King, the Holy, the Giver of peace, the Granter of security, Guardian over all, the Mighty, the Supreme, the Possessor of every greatness Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him).
59.24: He is Allah the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner; His are the most excellent names; whatever is in the heavens and the earth declares His glory; and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

Dua # 14 Sura MU-minun (23) – Ayah # 116

23.116: So exalted be Allah, the True King; no god is there but He, the Lord of the honorable dominion.

Dua # 15 Sura Luqman ( 31) – Ayah # 26

31.26: What is in the heavens and the earth is Allah’s; surely Allah is the Self-sufficient, the Praised.

Dua # 16 Sura Al Kafirun – Complete.

109.1: Say: O unbelievers!
109.2: I do not serve that which you serve,
109.3: Nor do you serve Him Whom I serve:

7.206: Surely those who are with your Lord are not too proud to serve Him, and they declare His glory and throw themselves down in humility before Him.

10.10: Their cry in it shall be: Glory to Thee, O Allah! and their greeting in it shall be: Peace; and the last of their cry shall be: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

Dua # 3b Sura Bani Isra-il – Ayah # 108.

17.108: And they say: Glory be to our Lord! most surely the promise of our Lord was to be fulfilled.

Dua # 4 – Sura Naml – Ayah # 15.

27.15: And certainly We gave knowledge to Dawood and Sulaiman, and they both said: Praise be to Allah, Who has made us to excel many of His believing servants.

Dua # 5 – Sura Naml – Ayah # 19.

27.19: So he smiled, wondering at her word, and said: My Lord! grant me that I should be grateful for Thy favor which Thou hast bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I should do good such as Thou art pleased with, and make me enter, by Thy mercy, into Thy servants, the good ones.

27.40: One who had the knowledge of the Book said: I will bring it to you in the twinkling of an eye. Then when he saw it settled beside him, he said: This is of the grace of my Lord that He may try me whether I am grateful or ungrateful; and whoever is grateful, he is grateful only for his own soul, and whoever is ungrateful, then surely my Lord is Self-sufficient, Honored.

35.34: And they shall say: (All) praise is due to Allah, Who has made grief to depart from us; most surely our Lord is Forgiving, Multiplier of rewards,

Dua # 8 – Sura Jathiya – Ayat 36 & 37.

45.36: Therefore to Allah is due (all) praise, the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the earth, the Lord of the worlds.
45.37: And to Him belongs greatness in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

1.6: The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray.

Dua # 3 – Sura Baqara(2/286) – Ayah # 286.

2.286: Allah does not impose upon any soul a duty but to the extent of its ability; for it is (the benefit of) what it has earned and upon it (the evil of) what it has wrought: Our Lord! do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake; Our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as Thou didst lay on those before us, Our Lord do not impose upon us that which we have not the strength to bear; and pardon us and grant us protection and have mercy on us, Thou art our Patron, so help us against the unbelieving people.

Dua # 4 – Sura A’raf ( 7/47) – Ayah # 47.

7.47: And when their eyes shall be turned towards the inmates of the fire, they shall say: Our Lord! place us not with the unjust

Dua # 5 – Sura A’raf (7/143) – Ayah # 143.

7.143: And when Musa came at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said: My Lord! show me (Thyself), so that I may look upon Thee. He said: You cannot (bear to) see Me but look at the mountain, if it remains firm in its place, then will you see Me; but when his Lord manifested His glory to the mountain He made it crumble and Musa fell down in a swoon; then when he recovered, he said: Glory be to Thee, I turn to Thee, and I am the first of the believers.

Dua # 6 – Sura Hud – Ayah # 47.

11.47: He said: My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from asking Thee that of which I have no knowledge; and if Thou shouldst not forgive me and have mercy on me, I should be of the losers.

Dua # 7 – Sura Hud – Ayah # 90.

11.90: And ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn to Him; surely my Lord is Merciful, Loving-kind.

Dua # 8 – Sura Yusuf – Ayah # 53.

12.53: And I do not declare myself free, most surely (man’s) self is wont to command (him to do) evil, except such as my Lord has had mercy on, surely my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.

Dua # 9 – Sura Qalam or Nun – Ayah # 29.

68.29: They said: Glory be to our Lord, surely we were unjust.

Dua #10 – Sura Ambiyah – Ayah # 87.

21.87: And Yunus, when he went away in wrath, so he thought that We would not straiten him, so he called out among afflictions: There is no god but Thou, glory be to Thee; surely I am of those who make themselves to suffer loss

Dua #11 – Sura Nam’l – Ayat 62 thru 64.

27.62: Or, Who answers the distressed one when he calls upon Him and removes the evil, and He will make you successors in the earth. Is there a god with Allah? Little is it that you mind!
27.63: Or, Who guides you in utter darkness of the land and the sea, and Who sends the winds as good news before His mercy. Is there a god with Allah? Exalted by Allah above what they associate (with Him).
27.64: Or, Who originates the creation, then reproduces it and Who gives you sustenance from the heaven and the earth. Is there a god With Allah? Say: Bring your proof if you are truthful.

Dua # 12 – Sura Qasas – Ayah # 24.

28.24: So he watered (their sheep) for them, then went back to the shade and said: My Lord! surely I stand in need of whatever good Thou mayest send down to me

Dua # 13 – Sura Ankabut – Ayat 21 and 22.

29.21: He punishes whom He pleases and has mercy on whom He pleases, and to Him you shall be turned back.
29.22: And you shall not escape in the earth nor in the heaven, and you have neither a protector nor a helper besides Allah.

Dua # 14 – Sura Yasin – Ayah # 58.

36.58: Peace: a word from a Merciful Lord.

Dua # 15 – Sura Saffat – Ayah # 75.

37.75: And Nuh did certainly call upon Us, and most excellent answerer of prayer are We

48.1: Surely We have given to you a clear victory

48.4: He it is Who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers that they might have more of faith added to their faith — and Allah’s are the hosts of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is Knowing, Wise —

Dua # 20 – Sura Hashar (59/10) – Ayat # 10.

59.10: And those who come after them say: Our Lord! forgive us and those of our brethren who had precedence of us in faith, and do not allow any spite to remain in our hearts towards those who believe, our Lord! surely Thou art Kind, Merciful

Dua # 21 – Sura Mumtahina – Ayah 4 & 5.

60.4: Indeed, there is for you a good example in Ibrahim and those with him when they said to their people: Surely we are clear of you and of what you serve besides Allah; we declare ourselves to be clear of you, and enmity and hatred have appeared between us and you forever until you believe in Allah alone — but not in what Ibrahim said to his father: I wouldcertainly ask forgiveness for you, and I do not control for you aught from Allah — Our Lord! on Thee do we rely, and to Thee do we turn, and to Thee is the eventual coming:
60.5: Our Lord! do not make us a trial for those who disbelieve, and forgive us, our Lord! surely Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.

Dua # 22 – Sura Tagabun – Ayah # 13.

64.13: Allah, there is no god but He; and upon Allah, then, let the believers rely.

Dua # 23 – Sura  Yusuf – Ayah # 87.

12.87: O my sons! Go and inquire respecting Yusuf and his brother, and despair not of Allah’s mercy; surely none despairs of Allah’s mercy except the unbelieving people.

Dua # 24 – Sura Rad 13 – Ayat 27 and 28.

13.27: And those who disbelieve say: Why is not a sign sent down upon him by his Lord? Say: Surely Allah makes him who will go astray, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).
13.28: Those who believe and whose hearts are set at rest by the remembrance of Allah; now surely by Allah’s remembrance are the hearts set at rest.

14.38: O our Lord! Surely Thou knowest what we hide and what we make public, and nothing in the earth nor any thing in heaven is hidden from Allah:

Dua # 26 – Sura Ambiyah (21/83) – Ayah # 83.

21.83: And Ayub, when he cried to his Lord, (saying): Harm has afflicted me, and Thou art the most Merciful of the merciful.

Dua # 27 – Sura Mu-minun – Ayat 106 & 107.

23.106: They shall say: O our Lord! our adversity overcame us and we were an erring people:
23.107: O our Lord! Take us out of it; then if we return (to evil) surely we shall be unjust.

Dua # 28 – Sura Mu-minun – Ayah # 109.

23.109: Surely there was a party of My servants who said: O OUR. Lord! we believe, so do Thou forgive us and have mercy on us, and Thou art the best of the Merciful ones.

Dua # 29 – Sura Mu-minun – Ayah # 118.

23.118: And say: O my Lord! forgive and have mercy, and Thou art the best of the Merciful ones.

2.32: They said: Glory be to Thee! we have no knowledge but that which Thou hast taught us; surely Thou art the Knowing, the Wise.

Dua # 3 – Sura Ana’m (6/77) – Ayah # 77.

6.77: Then when he saw the moon rising, he said: Is this my Lord? So when it set, he said: If my Lord had not guided me I should certainly be of the erring people.

Dua # 4 – Sura Yunus (10/109) – Ayah # 109.

10.109: And follow what is revealed to you and be patient till Allah should give judgment, and He is the best of the judges.

Dua # 5 – Sura Kahf (18/24) – Ayah # 24.

18.24: Unless Allah pleases; and remember your Lord when you forget and say: Maybe my Lord will guide me to a nearer course to the right than this.

Dua # 6 – Sura Ambiyah (21/4) – Ayah # 4.

21.4: He said: My Lord knows what is spoken in the heaven and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

Dua # 7 – Sura Kahf (18/10) – Ayah # 10.

18.10: When the youths sought refuge in the cave, they said: Our Lord! grant us mercy from Thee, and provide for us a right course in our affair.

Dua # 8 – Sura Kahf (18/17) – Ayah # 17.

18.17: And you might see the sun when it rose, decline from their cave towards the right hand, and when it set, leave them behind on the left while they were in a wide space thereof. This is of the signs of Allah; whomsoever Allah guides, he is the rightly guided one, and whomsoever He causes to err, you shall not find for him any friend to lead (him) aright.

Dua # 9 – Sura Naml (27/79) – Ayah # 79.

27.79: Therefore rely on Allah; surely you are on the clear truth.

Dua # 10 – Sura Takwir (81/29) – Ayah # 29.

81.29: And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds.

Dua # 11 – Sura Furqan (25/31) – Ayah # 31.

25.31: And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the sinners and sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and a Helper.

Dua # 12 – Sura Qasas (28) – Ayah # 22.

28.22: And when he turned his face towards Madyan, he said: Maybe my Lord will guide me in the right path.

Dua # 13 – Sura Ankabut (29/26) – Ayah # 26.

29.26: And Lut believed in Him, and he said: I am fleeing to my Lord, surely He is the Mighty, the Wise

Dua # 14 – Sura Saffat (37/99) – Ayah # 99.

37.99: And he said: Surely I fly to my lord; He will guide me.

Dua # 15 – Sura Ma’arij (70/40 & 41) – Ayat # 40 and 41.

70.40: But nay! I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests that We are certainly able
70.41: To bring instead (others) better than them, and We shall not be overcome.

Dua # 16 – Sura Maida (5/48) – Ayah # 48.

5.48: And We have revealed to you the Book with the truth, verifying what is before it of the Book and a guardian over it, therefore judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their low desires (to turn away) from the truth that has come to you; for every one of you did We appoint a law and a way, and if Allah had pleased He would have made you (all) a single people, but that He might try you in what He gave you, therefore strive with one another to hasten to virtuous deeds; to Allah is your return, of all (of you), so He will let you know that in which you differed;

Dua # 17 – Sura Maryam (19/76) – Ayah # 76.

19.76: And Allah increases in guidance those who go aright; and ever-abiding good works are with your Lord best in recompense and best in yielding fruit.

Dua # 18 – Sura Shu’araa (26/62) – Ayah # 62.

26.62: He said: By no means; surely my Lord is with me: He will show me a way out.

Dua # 19 – Sura Naml (27/93) – Ayah # 93.

27.93: And say: Praise be to Allah, He will show you His signs so that you shall recognize them; nor is your Lord heedless of what you do.

Dua # 20 – Sura Qasas (28/85) – Ayah # 85.

28.85: Most surely He Who has made the Quran binding on you will bring you back to the destination. Say: My Lord knows best him who has brought the guidance and him who is in manifest error.

Dua # 21 – Sura Zukhraf (43/27) – Ayah # 27.

43.27: Save Him Who created me, for surely He will guide me.

Dua # 1 – Sura Baqara (2/117) – Ayah # 117.

2.117: Wonderful Originator of the heavens and the earth, and when He decrees an affair, He only says to it, Be, so there it is.

Dua # 2 – Sura Hud (11/123) – Ayah # 123

11.123: And Allah’s is the unseen in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is returned the whole of the affair; therefore serve Him and rely on Him, and your Lord is not heedless of what you do.

Dua # 3 – Sura Al-Rad (13/16) – Ayah # 16.

13.16: Say: Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth? — Say: Allah. Say: Do you take then besides Him guardians who do not control any profit or harm for themselves? Say: Are the blind and the seeing alike? Or can the darkness and the light be equal? Or have they set up with Allah associates who have created creation like His, so that what is created became confused to them? Say: Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Supreme.

Dua # 4 – Sura Rum (30/11) – Ayah # 11.

30.11: Allah originates the creation, then reproduces it, then to Him you shall be brought back.

Dua # 5 – Sura Rum (30/26 & 27) – Ayah # 26 and 27.

30.26: And His is whosoever is in the heavens and the earth; all are obedient to Him.
30.27: And He it is Who originates the creation, then reproduces it, and it is easy to Him; and His are the most exalted attributes in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

Dua # 6 – Sura Ankabut (29/19) – Ayah # 19.

29.19: What! do they not consider how Allah originates the creation, then reproduces it? Surely that is easy to Allah.

Dua # 7 – Sura Ta-Ha (20/50) – Ayah # 50.

20.50: He said: Our Lord is He Who gave to everything its creation, then guided it (to its goal).

Dua # 8 – Sura Ambiyah (21/89 – Ayah # 89.

21.89: And Zakariya, when he cried to his Lord: O my Lord leave me not alone; and Thou art the best of inheritors.

Dua # 9 – Sura Saffat 37/100) – Ayah # 100.

37.100: My Lord! grant me of the doers of good deeds.

Dua # 1 – Sura Ale Imran – Ayah # 147.

3.147: And their saying was no other than that they said: Our Lord! forgive us our faults and our extravagance in our affair and make firm our feet and help us against the unbelieving people.

Dua # 2 – Sura Mu-minun – Ayah # 28.

23.28: And when you are firmly seated, you and those with you, in the ark, say: All praise is due to Allah who delivered us from the unjust people:

Dua # 3 – Sura Baqra – Ayat 249 & 250.

2.249: So when Talut departed with the forces, he said: Surely Allah will try you with a river; whoever then drinks from it, he is not of me, and whoever does not taste of it, he is surely of me, except he who takes with his hand as much of it as fills the hand; but with the exception of a few of them they drank from it. So when he had crossed it, he and those who believed with him, they said: We have today no power against Jalut and his forces. Those who were sure that they would meet their Lord said: How often has a small party vanquished a numerous host by Allah’s permission, and Allah is with the patient.
2.250: And when they went out against Jalut and his forces they said: Our Lord, pour down upon us patience, and make our steps firm and assist us against the unbelieving people.

Dua # 4 – Sura Nisaa Ayah # 75.

4.75: And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper.

Dua # 5 – Sura Yunus – Ayat 85 & 86.

10.85: So they said: On Allah we rely: O our Lord! make us not Subject to the persecution of the unjust people:
10.86: And do Thou deliver us by Thy mercy from the unbelieving people.

Dua # 6 – Sura Qasas – Ayah # 21.

28.21: So he went forth therefrom, fearing, awaiting, (and) he said: My Lord! deliver me from the unjust people.

Dua # 7 – Sura Ankabut – Ayat # 30.

29.30: He said: My Lord! help me against the mischievous people.

Dua # 8 – Sura Ta-Ha (20) – Ayat 45 & 46.

20.45: Both said: O our Lord! Surely we fear that he may hasten to do evil to us or that he may become inordinate.
20.46: He said: Fear not, surely I am with you both: I do hear and see.

Dua # 1 – Sura Baqra Ayah 255.

2.255: Allah is He besides Whom there is no god, the Everliving, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist; slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep; whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His; who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He pleases, His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires Him not, and He is the Most High, the Great.

Dua # 2 – Sura Tauba – Ayat # 51.

9.51: Say: Nothing will afflict us save what Allah has ordained for us; He is our.Patron; and on Allah let the believers rely.

Dua # 3 – Sura Maryam Ayah # 65.

19.65: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, so serve Him and be patient in His service. Do you know any one equal to Him?

Dua # 4 – Sura Furqan Ayah # 18.

25.18: They shall say: Glory be to Thee; it was not beseeming for us that we should take any guardians besides Thee, but Thou didst make them and their fathers to enjoy until they forsook the reminder, and they were a people in perdition,

Dua # 5 – Sura Ha-Mim Ayah # 36.

41.36: And if an interference of the Shaitan should cause you mischief, seek refuge in Allah; surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

Dua # 6 – Sura Yusuf – Ayah # 101.

12.101: My Lord! Thou hast given me of the kingdom and taught me of the interpretation of sayings: Originator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my guardian in this world and the hereafter; make me die a muslim and join me with the good.

Dua # 7 – Sura Bani Is’rail – Ayat # 110 & 111.

17.110: Say: Call upon Allah or call upon, the Beneficent God; whichever you call upon, He has the best names; and do not utter your prayer with a very raised voice nor be silent with regard to it, and seek a way between these.
17.111: And say: (All) praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son and Who has not a partner in the kingdom, and Who has not a helper to save Him from disgrace; and proclaim His greatness magnifying (Him).

Dua # 8 – Sura Ale Imran – Ayah # 13.

3.13: Indeed there was a sign for you in the two hosts (which) met together in encounter; one party fighting in the way of Allah and the other unbelieving, whom they saw twice as.many as themselves with the sight of the eye and Allah strengthens with His aid whom He pleases; most surely there is a lesson in this for those who have sight.

Dua # 9 – Sura A’raf – Ayah # 126.

7.126: And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission.

Dua # 10 – Sura Anfal – Ayah # 18.

8.18: This, and that Allah is the weakener of the struggle of the unbelievers.

Dua # 11 – Sura Ibrahim – Ayat 11 & 12.

14.11: Their apostles said to them: We are nothing but mortals like yourselves, but Allah bestows (His) favors on whom He pleases of His servants, and it is not for us that we should bring you an authority except by Allah’s permission; and on Allah should the believers rely.
14.12: And what reason have we that we should not rely on Allah? And He has indeed guided us in our ways; and certainly we would bear with patience your persecution of us; and on Allah should the reliant rely.

18.98: He said: This is a mercy from my Lord, but when the promise of my Lord comes to pass He will make it level with the ground, and the promise of my Lord is ever true.

Say: Surely grace is in the hand of Allah, He gives it to whom He pleases; and Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing.

3.26: Say: O Allah, Master of the Kingdom! Thou givest the kingdom to whomsoever Thou pleasest and takest away the kingdom from whomsoever Thou pleasest, and Thou exaltest whom Thou pleasest and abasest whom Thou pleasest in Thine hand is the good; surety, Thou hast power over all things.
3.27: Thou makest the night to pass into the day and Thou makest the day to pass into the night, and Thou bringest forth the living from the dead and Thou bringest forth the dead from the living, and Thou givest sustenance to whom Thou pleasest without measure.

28.82: And those who yearned for his place only the day before began to say: Ah! (know) that Allah amplifies and straitens the means of subsistence for whom He pleases of His servants; had not Allah been gracious to us, He would most surely have abased us; ah! (know) that the ungrateful are never successful.

34.39: Say: Surely my Lord amplifies the means of subsistence for whom He pleases of His servants and straitens (them) for whom (He pleases), and whatever thing you spend, He exceeds It m reward, and He is the best of Sustainers.

10.21: And when We make people taste of mercy after an affliction touches them, lo ! they devise plans against Our communication. Say: Allah is quicker to plan; surely Our messengers write down what you plan.

22.78: And strive hard in (the way of) Allah, (such) a striving a is due to Him; He has chosen you and has not laid upon you an hardship in religion; the faith of your father Ibrahim; He named you Muslims before and in this, that the Apostle may be a bearer of witness to you, and you may be bearers of witness to the people; therefore keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and hold fast by Allah; He is your Guardian; how excellent the Guardian and how excellent the Helper!

4.87: Allah, there is no god but He — He will most certainly gather you together on the resurrection day, there is no doubt in it; and who is more true in word than Allah?

20.98: Your God is only Allah, there is no god but He; He comprehends all things in (His) knowledge.

Dua # 7 – Sura Nisaa (4) – Ayah # 45.

4.45: And Allah best knows your enemies; and Allah suffices as a Guardian, and Allah suffices as a Helper.

Dua # 8 – Sura Yunus (10) – Ayah # 82.

10.82: And Allah will show the truth to be the truth by His words, though the guilty may be averse (to it).

Dua # 9 – Sura Nisaa (4) – Ayah # 70.

4.72: And surely among you is he who would certainly hang back! If then a misfortune befalls you he says: Surely Allah conferred a benefit on me that I was not present with them.

4.132: And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah’s, and Allah is sufficient as a Protector.

Dua # 11 – Sura Nisaa (4) – Ayah # 123.

4.123: (This) shall not be in accordance with your vain desires nor in accordance with the vain desires of the followers of the Book; whoever does evil, he shall be requited with it, and besides Allah he will find for himself neither a guardian nor a helper.

9.59: And if they were content with what Allah and His Apostle gave them, and had said: Allah is sufficient for us; Allah will soon give us (more) out of His grace and His Apostle too; surely to Allah do we make our petition.

9.129: But if they turn back, say: Allah is sufficient for me, there is no god but He; on Him do I rely, and He is the Lord of mighty power.

13.30: And thus We have sent you among a nation before which other nations have passed away, that you might recite to them what We have revealed to you and (still) they deny the Beneficent God. Say: He is my Lord, there is no god but He; on Him do I rely and to Him is my return.

Dua # 15 – Sura Zumar (39) – Ayah # 38.

39.38: And should you ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? They would most certainly say: Allah. Say: Have you then considered that what you call upon besides Allah, would they, if Allah desire to afflict me with harm, be the removers of His harm, or (would they), if Allah desire to show me mercy, be the withholders of His mercy? Say: Allah is sufficient for me; on Him do the reliant rely.

30.5: With the help of Allah; He helps whom He pleases; and He is the Mighty, the Merciful;

7.151: He said: My Lord! forgive me and my brother and cause us to enter into Thy mercy, and Thou art the most Merciful of the merciful ones.

Dua # 2 – Sura A’raf (7) – Ayats # 155 & 156.

7.155: And Musa chose out of his people seventy men for Our appointment; so when the earthquake overtook them, he said: My Lord! if Thou hadst pleased, Thou hadst destroyed them before and myself (too); wilt Thou destroy us for what the fools among us have done? It is naught but Thy trial, Thou makest err with it whom Thou pleasest and guidest whom Thou pleasest: Thou art our Guardian, therefore forgive us and have mercy on us, and Thou art the best of the forgivers.
7.156: And ordain for us good in this world’s life and m the hereafter, for surely we turn to Thee. He said: (As for) My chastisement, I will afflict with it whom I please, and My mercy encompasses all things; so I will ordain it (specially) for those who guard (against evil) and pay the poor-rate, and those who believe in Our communications.

25.74: And they who say: O our Lord! grant us in our wives and our offspring the joy of our eyes, and make us guides to those who guard (against evil).

Dua # 4 – Sura Momin (40/7-9) – Ayats 7 thru 9.

40.7: Those who bear the power and those around Him celebrate the praise of their Lord and believe in Him and ask protection for those who believe: Our Lord! Thou embracest all things in mercy and knowledge, therefore grant protection to those who turn (to Thee) and follow Thy way, and save them from the punishment of the hell:
40.8: Our Lord! and make them enter the gardens of perpetuity which Thou hast promised to them and those who do good of their fathers and their wives and their offspring, surely Thou are the Mighty, the Wise.
40.9: And keep them from evil deeds, and whom Thou keepest from evil deeds this day, indeed Thou hast mercy on him, and that is the mighty achievement.

Dua # 5 – Sura Hashr (59) – Ayah # 10.

59.10: And those who come after them say: Our Lord! forgive us and those of our brethren who had precedence of us in faith, and do not allow any spite to remain in our hearts towards those who believe, our Lord! surely Thou art Kind, Merciful.

21.69: We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim;

Dua # 4 – Sura Shu’araa (26) – Ayah # 68.

26.68: And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.

Dua # 5 – Sura Yasin (36) – Ayats 81 thru 83.

36.81: Is not He Who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them? Yea! and He is the Creator (of all), the Knower.
36.82: His command, when He intends anything, is only to say to it: Be, so it is.
36.83: Therefore glory be to Him in Whose hand is the kingdom of all things, and to Him you shall be brought back.

59.21: Had We sent down this Quran on a mountain, you would certainly have seen it falling down, splitting asunder because of the fear of Allah, and We set forth these parables to men that they may reflect.

66.8: O you who believe! turn to Allah a sincere turning; maybe your Lord will remove from you your evil and cause you to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, on the day on which Allah will not abase the Prophet and those who believe with him; their light shall run on before them and on their right hands; they shall say: Our Lord! make perfect for us our light, and grant us protection, surely Thou hast power over all things.

50.22: Certainly you were heedless of it, but now We have removed from you your veil, so your sight today is sharp.

4.95: The holders back from among the believers, not having any injury, and those who strive hard in Allah’s way with their property and their persons are not equal; Allah has made the strivers with their property and their persons to excel the holders back a (high) degree, and to each (class) Allah has promised good; and Allah shall grant to the strivers above the holders back a mighty reward:

Dua # 2 – Sura A’raf (7) – Ayah # 89.

7.89: Indeed we shall have forged a lie against Allah If we go back to your religion after Allah has delivered us from It, and it befits us not that we should go back to it, except if Allah our Lord please: Our Lord comprehends all things :n His knowledge; in Allah do we trust: Our Lord! decide between us and our people with truth; and Thou art the best of deciders.

Dua # 3 – Sura Yusuf (12) – Ayah # 33.

12.33: He said: My Lord! the prison house is dearer to me than that to which they invite me; and if Thou turn not away their device from me, I will yearn towards them and become (one) of the ignorant.

16.52: And whatever is in the heavens and the earth is His, and to Him should obedience be (rendered) constantly; will you then guard against other than (the punishment of) Allah?

18.14: And We strengthened their hearts with patience, when they stood up and said: Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth; we will by no means call upon any god besides Him, for then indeed we should have said an extravagant thing.

23.93: Say: O my Lord! if Thou shouldst make me see what they are threatened with:
23.94: My Lord! then place me not with the unjust.

28.88: And call not with Allah any other god; there is no god but He, every thing is perishable but He; His is the judgment, and to Him you shall be brought back.

28.55: And when they hear idle talk they turn aside from it and say: We shall have our deeds and you shall have your deeds; peace be on you, we do not desire the ignorant.

17.24: And make yourself submissively gentle to them with compassion, and say: O my Lord! have compassion on them, as they brought me up (when I was) little.

Dua # 2 – Sura Ahqaf (46) – Ayah # 15.

46.15: And We have enjoined on man doing of good to his parents; with trouble did his mother bear him and with trouble did she bring him forth; and the bearing of him and the weaning of him was thirty months; until when he attains his maturity and reaches forty years, he says: My Lord! grant me that I may give thanks for Thy favor which Thou hast bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do good which pleases Thee and do good to me in respect of my offspring; surely I turn to Thee, and surely I am of those who submit.

71.28: My Lord! forgive me and my parents and him who enters my house believing, and the believing men and the believing women; and do not increase the unjust in aught but destruction!

Dua # 1 – Sura Anfal (8/8) – Ayah # 8.

8.8: That He may manifest the truth of what was true and show the falsehood of what was false, though the guilty disliked.

Dua # 2 – Sura Yusuf (12) – Ayah 77.

12.77: They said: If he steal, a brother of his did indeed steal before; but Yusuf kept it secret in his heart and did not disclose it to them. He said: You are in an evil condition and Allah knows best what you state.

Dua # 3 – Sura Rad (13) – Ayah # 43.

13.43: And those who disbelieve say: You are not a messenger. Say: Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you and whoever has knowledge of the Book.

Dua # 4 – Sura Ankabut (29) – Ayah # 52.

29.52: Say: Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you; He knows what is in the heavens and the earth. And (as for) those who believe in the falsehood and disbelieve in Allah, these it is that are the losers.

Dua # 5 – Sura Ahqaf (46) – Ayah #8.

46.8: Nay! they say: He has forged it. Say: If I have forged it, you do not control anything for me from Allah; He knows best what you utter concerning it; He is enough as a witness between me and you, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

20.25: He said: O my Lord! Expand my breast for me,
20.26: And make my affair easy to me,

21.112: He said: O my Lord! judge Thou with truth; and our Lord is the Beneficent God, Whose help is sought against what you ascribe (to Him).

43.13: That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it

30.50: Look then at the signs of Allah’s mercy, how He gives life to the earth after its death, most surely He will raise the dead to life; and He has power over all things.

3.191: Those who remember Allah standing and sitting and lying on their sides and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: Our Lord! Thou hast not created this in vain! Glory be to Thee; save us then from the chastisement of the fire:
3.192: Our Lord! surely whomsoever Thou makest enter the fire, him Thou hast indeed brought to disgrace, and there shall be no helpers for the unjust:
3.193: Our Lord! surely we have heard a preacher calling to the faith, saying: Believe in your Lord, so we did believe; Our Lord! forgive us therefore our faults, and cover our evil deeds and make us die with the righteous.
3.194: Our Lord! and grant us what Thou hast promised us by Thy apostles; and disgrace us not on the day of resurrection; surely Thou dost not fail to perform the promise.

3.16: Those who say: Our Lord! surely we believe, therefore forgive us our faults and save us from the chastisement of the fire.

Dua # 3 – Sura Fath (48/14) – Ayah 14.

48.14: And Allah’s is the kingdom. of the heavens and the earth; He forgives whom He pleases and punishes whom He pleases, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

5.83: And when they hear what has been revealed to the apostle you will see their eyes overflowing with tears on account of the truth that they recognize; they say: Our Lord! we believe, so write us down with the witnesses (of truth).
5.84: And what (reason) have we that we should not believe in Allah and in the truth that has come to us, while we earnestly desire that our Lord should cause us to enter with the good people?

14.40: My Lord! make me keep up prayer and from my offspring (too), O our Lord, and accept my prayer:
14.41: O our Lord! grant me protection and my parents and the believers on the day when the reckoning shall come to pass!

Dua # 6 – Sura Furqan – Ayat 65 & 66.

25.65: And they who say: O our Lord! turn away from us the punishment of hell, surely the punishment thereof is a lasting
25.66: Surely it is an evil abode and (evil) place to stay.

Dua # 7 – Sura Mu-minun – Ayat 93 & 94.

23.93: Say: O my Lord! if Thou shouldst make me see what they are threatened with:
23.94: My Lord! then place me not with the unjust.

Dua # 8 – Sura Shu’araa – Ayah 51.

26.51: Surely we hope that our Lord will forgive us our wrongs because we are the first of the believers.
