The day of Arafah is one of the most sacred days of the Islamic Calendar. On this day Allah invites his servants towards his worship and obedience, and spreads his bounties and blessings. Imam Zaynul Abidin (as) says about this great day: "O God, this is the day of Arafah a day which you have made noble, given honor and magnified within it. You have spread your mercy, showed kindness through your pardon, made plentiful your giving and by it you have been gracious towards your servants." (Sahifa as-Sajjadiyyah, Du'a no. 47).
It is also narrated that once Imam saw a man begging from people on the day of Arafah. & said "Woe unto you that on a day like this you are asking from other than God. This is a day when the mercy and grace of Allah reaches (even) the fetus in the womb."

FROM MAFATIH The `Arafat Day;
Although it is not included with the feasts of Islam, the ninth of Dhu’l-°ijjah is one of the great feast days in Islam. On this day, Almighty Allah commanded His servants to obey and worship Him. He thus extended for them the tables of His benevolence and magnanimity. On this day too, Satan becomes abject, lowly, expelled, and angry more than any other day.
It is narrated that Imam Zayn al-`ªbid¢n (`a), on the ninth of Dhu’l-°ijjah, heard someone begging people for financial aid. The Imam (`a) said to him, “Woe is you! On such a day, do you beg other than Almighty Allah? On this day, even fetuses in wombs are expected to be included with the mercy of Almighty Allah and they will be delighted.
The devotional acts on this day are as follows:
First: It is recommended to perform bathing on this day.
Second: It is recommended to visit the holy tomb of Imam al-Husayn (`a), for its reward is equal to the reward of one thousand times of °ajj, one thousand times of `Umrah, and one thousand times of jih¡d (holy war), and even more. The narrations entailing the great merits and rewards of visiting the holy tomb of Imam al-°usayn (`a) on the ninth of Dhu’l-°ijjah have been uninterruptedly reported. If fact, the reward of visiting the holy tomb of Imam al-Husayn (`a) and having the honor of attending therein is not less than the reward of attending on Mount `Araf¡t and even more.
The form of Ziy¡rah on this day will be cited in the coming book of Ziyarat.
Third: It is recommended to offer a two unit prayer immediately after the obligatory `A¥r Prayer before saying the supplicatory prayers of `Araf¡t. This prayer should be offered outdoors and it should include confessions of sins. One who offers this prayer will be granted the reward of attending on Mount `Araf¡t and having all sins forgiven.
After this prayer, it is recommended to begin with the acts and supplications of the `Araf¡t Day that are reported from the Holy Infallibles (`a). Although these acts and supplications are too numerous to be mentioned in this book, I will try to mention a number of them that is compatible to the size of this book:
In al-Mi¥b¡¦, al-Kaf`am¢ says that it is recommended to observe fasting on the `Araf¡t Day, unless fasting prevents from saying the supplications. It is also recommended to bathe oneself before midday and to visit the holy tomb of Imam al-°usayn (`a) on day and night. At midday, it is recommended to leave one’s house and offer the obligatory ²uhr and `A¥r prayers outdoors with complete performance of their parts. After accomplishment, it is recommended to offer a two unit prayer reciting Surah al-Fatihah and Surah al-Tawhid in the first unit and S£rah al-F¡ti¦ah and S£rah al-K¡fir£n in the second. After that, it is recommended to offer a four unit prayer reciting at each unit S£rah al-F¡ti¦ah once and repeating S£rah al-Taw¦¢d fifty times.
This is in fact the prayer of Imam `Al¢ Am¢r al-Mu'min¢n (`a) that has been already mentioned in this book within the rites of Fridays.
In Iqb¡l al-A`m¡l, Sayyid Ibn ±¡w£s says:Say the following doxology that is reported from the Holy Prophet (¥):
Then, repeat the following doxology one hundred times:
Then, repeat S£rah al-Taw¦¢d one hundred times, ªyah al-Kurs¢ one hundred times, and invoke blessings upon Mu¦ammad and his Household one hundred times:
Then, repeat the following doxological and statements ten times each:
Then, say the following:
The, submit your needs and they will be granted, by the permission of Almighty Allah.
You may then say the following prayer that is reported from Imam al-¯¡diq (`a) who said: If you wish to please Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad—peace be upon them all—you may say the following invocation: Mp3
Mafatih al-Jinan: Salawat of the Day of Arafah same salwat in diff format
Then recite the following blessings (salawat), for Imam Sadiq was quoted as saying, "Whoever wants to please Prophet Muhammad (s) and his progeny (`a), should ask God to grant His Blessings upon them (salawat) in this way:"
O Allah! O the Most Generous who gives more than all the givers! O the Best (eternally) Besought of all those who are beseeched! O the Most Merciful of all themerciful!
O Allah send blessings on Muhammad and on his children in the earlier times, and send blessings on Muhammad and on his children in the later times,
send blessings on Muhammad and on his children, (in the midst of those) living in a satisfying state of the highest degree, send blessings on Muhammad and on his children in the midst of the Messengers.
O Allah give to Muhammad and his children (all) rights of being "the means of approach" (unto Thee), and abundant merits, distinctions, high ranks, and most important privileges.
O Allah I have accepted the "truth of Muhammad" (Allah's blessings be on him and on his children, though I have not met him, therefore let it not be that I am deprived of his vision on the Day of Judgement,
and let my life (in the Hereafter) be spent in his company, make me follow his creed,
let me quench my thirst from his cistern (Kawthar), thoroughly, in plenty, gliding the wholesome water pleasantly down the throat, never ever to be thirsty again, Verily, Thou art able to do all things.
O Allah I have accepted the "truth of Muhammad" (Allah's blessings be on him and on his children), though I have not met him, therefore, let me remain aware of his true aspects in the Paradise.
O Allah convey to Muhammad (Allah's blessings be on him and on his children) my much and many compliments and salutations.
You may then say the famous prayer known as Du`a' Ummi-Dawood, which has been previously cited within the devotional acts of Rajab. It begins with the following statement:
You may then say the following doxology whose reward is too much to be mentioned in this book:
You may then say the famous prayer, which begins with the following statement:
This prayer has been previously mentioned within the rites at Friday nights.
You may then say the prayer that has been mentioned by Shaykh al-±£s¢ in Mi¥b¡¦ al-Mutahajjid. It is ascribed to Imam Zayn al-`ªbid¢n (`a) and it begins with the following statement:
It is worth mentioning that this supplicatory prayer, which has not been cited herein because of its lengthiness, is also advisably said during the ritual of al-wuq£f `al¡ `arafah (Halting At Mount `Araf¡t), which is one of the rituals of °ajj.
It is also highly advisable to say the forty-seventh supplication of sahifa sajjadia . It is recommended to say the prayer, which comprises all the requirements of worldly and religious life, with reverence. The prayer begins with the following statement:
