It is narrated from the Prophet (Peace be upon him and his progeny) that it is recommended to pray this prayer on Sunday in the month of Dhil Qa'da with a great reward. That whoever prays it, his sins will be forgiven and his repentance will be accepted and Allah (swt) will make his liabilities to others cleared and when he dies he will die with faith (Iman). And his religion will be intact. His grave will be widened and enlightened, his parents will be pleased with him and Allah (swt) will forgive his parents and children and will give him more wealth. And the Angel of Death will be gentle with him when taking his soul. And many other great benefits for this special prayer.

The month of Dhu’l-Qa`dah is the first of the Sacred Months to which Almighty Allah has referred in the Holy Qur'¡n. Sayyid Ibn ±¡w£s defines this month as the month of responding to the prayers in hardships. The Holy Prophet (¥) is reported as having mentioned a great reward for those who offer a special prayer on Sundays in Dhu’l-Qa`dah, adding that their repentance would be accepted, their sins forgiven, their rivals made pleased with them on the Resurrection Day, caused to die on true faith, given the true religion, granted expansion and light in the grave, the parents made pleased with them, their parents and offspring had their sins forgiven, provided with expansive sustenance, and granted lenience of the Angel of Death and easiness of their souls leaving their bodies.
The method of this prayer is that one should bathe oneself on Sunday, do the ritual ablution (wu¤£'), and offer a four-unit prayer in each unit of which S£rah al-F¡ti¦ah is recited once,
S£rah al-Taw¦¢d repeated three times,
S£rahs al-Falaq and al-N¡s recited once each.
After that, the statement of imploring for forgiveness (Istighf¡r: saying, astaghfirull¡h) is repeated 70 times,
and, finally, the following statement is said:
|
لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَليِّ ٱلْعَظِيمِ |
l¡ ¦awla wa l¡ quwwata ill¡ bill¡hi al`aliyyi al`a¨¢mi |
There is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the All-great. |
After that, the following is said:
|
يَا عَزِيزُ يَا غَفَّارُ |
y¡ `az¢zu y¡ ghaff¡ru |
O Almighty! O All-forgiving! |
|
ٱغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي وَذُنُوبَ جَمِيعِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤمِنَاتِ |
ighfir l¢ dhun£b¢ wa dhun£ba jam¢`i almu'min¢na walmu'min¡ti |
(Please) forgive my sins and the sins of all believing men and women, |
|
فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ إِلاَّ انْتَ |
fa'innah£ l¡ yaghfiru aldhdhun£ba ill¡ anta |
for none can forgive sins save You. |
