اللّهُمّ رَبّ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ

all¡humma rabba shahri rama¤¡na

O Allah: the Lord of the month of Ramadhan,

الّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ القُرْآنَ،

alladhy anzalta f¢hi alqur’¡na

In which You revealed the Qur'an,

وَافْتَرَضْتَ عَلَى عِبَادِكَ فِيهِ الصّيَامَ،

waftara¤ta `al¡ `ib¡dika f¢hi al¥¥iy¡ma

And You imposed fasting on Your servants:

ارْزُقْنِي حَجّ بَيْتِكَ الحَرَامِ

urzuqny ¦ajj baytika al¦ar¡mi

(Please) confer upon me with the pilgrimage to Your Holy House,

فِي هذَا العَامِ وَفِي كُلّ عَامٍ،

f¢ h¡dh¡ al`¡mi wa f¢ kulli `¡min

In this year and every year,

وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذّنُوبَ العِظَامَ

waghfir liya aldhdhun£ba al`i¨¡ma

And forgive my serious sins,

فَإنّهُ لا يَغْفِرُهَا غَيْرُكَ

fa’innahu l¡ yaghfiruh¡ ghayruka

For none can forgive them save You,

يَا ذَا الجَلالِ وَالإكْرَامِ.

y¡ dhaljal¡li wal-ikr¡mi

O the Lord of majesty and honor.

O Allah, (please do) include us with the righteous ones, out of Your mercy,

all¡humma bira¦matika f¢ al¥¥¡li¦¢na fa adkhiln¡

اَللَّهُمَّ بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي ٱلصَّالِحِينَ فَادْخِلْنَا

uplift us to the rank of `illiyy¢n (most elevated rank),

wa f¢ `illiyy¢na farfa`n¡

وَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ فَٱرْفَعْنَا

serve us with water

wa bika'sin min ma`¢nin

وَبِكَاسٍ مِنْ مَعِينٍ

running out of spring of Salsab¢l,

min `aynin salsab¢lin fasqin¡

مِنْ عَيْنٍ سَلْسَبِيلٍ فَٱسْقِنَا

out of Your mercy, give us as wives the Paradisiacal women,

wa min al¦£ri al`¢ni bira¦matika fazawwijn¡

وَمِنَ ٱلْحُورِ ٱلْعِينِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ فَزَوِّجْنَا

make the Paradisiacal youths who never alter in age

wa min alwild¡ni almukhalld¢na

وَمِنَ ٱلْوِلْدَانِ ٱلْمُخَلَّدِينَ

and who are like hidden pearls serve us,

ka'annahum lu'lu'un makn£nun fa'akhdimn¡

كَانَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَكْنُونٌ فَاخْدِمْنَا

give us food from the fruits of Paradise and from the meat of birds there,

wa min thim¡ri aljannati wa lu¦£mi al§§ayri fa'a§`imn¡

وَمِنْ ثِمَارِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ وَلُحُومِ ٱلطَّيْرِ فَاطْعِمْنَا

dress us from the clothes of fine and thick silk and rich brocade,

wa min thiy¡bi alssundusi wal¦ar¢ri wal-istabraqi fa'albisn¡

وَمِنْ ثِيَابِ ٱلسُّنْدُسِ وَٱلْحَرِيرِ وَٱلإِسْتَبْرَقِ فَالْبِسْنَا

give us success to catch the Grand Night,

wa laylata alqadri

وَلَيْلَةَ ٱلْقَدْرِ

lead us to pilgrimage to Your Holy House

wa ¦ajji baytika al¦ar¡mi

وَحَجَّ بَيْتِكَ ٱلْحَرَامِ

and martyrdom in Your way,

wa qatlan f¢ sab¢lika fawaffiq lan¡

وَقَتْلاً فِي سَبِيلِكَ فَوَفِّقْ لَنَا

and respond to our goodly prayer and supplication.

wa ¥¡li¦a alddu`¡'i walmas'alati fastajib lan¡

وَصَالِحَ ٱلدُّعَاءِ وَٱلْمَسْالَةِ فَٱسْتَجِبْ لَنَا

When You shall gather the past and the coming generations on the Resurrection Day, (please) have mercy upon us.

wa idh¡ jama`ta al-awwal¢na wal-¡khir¢na yawma alqiy¡mati far¦amn¡

وَإِذَا جَمَعْتَ ٱلاوَّلِينَ وَٱلآخِرِينَ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَامَةِ فَٱرْحَمْنَا

(Please) release us from Hellfire.

wa bar¡'atan min alnn¡ri faktub lan¡

وَبَرَاءَةً مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ فَٱكْتُبْ لَنَا

Do not fetter us in Hell,

wa f¢ jahannama fal¡ taghullan¡

وَفِي جَهَنَّمَ فَلاَ تَغُلَّنَا

do not try us through Your chastisement and humiliations,

wa f¢ `adh¡bika wa haw¡nika fal¡ tabtalin¡

وَفِي عَذَابِكَ وَهَوَانِكَ فَلاِ تَبْتَلِنَا

do not feed us from zaqq£m and thorns,

wa min alzzuqq£mi wal¤¤ar¢`i fal¡ tu§`imn¡

وَمِنَ ٱلزُّقُّومِ وَٱلضَّرِيعِ فَلاَ تُطْعِمْنَا

do not add us to the devils,

wa ma`a alshshay¡§¢ni fal¡ taj`aln¡

وَمَعَ ٱلشَّيَاطِينِ فَلاَ تَجْعَلْنَا

do not throw us down on our faces in Hellfire,

wa f¢ alnn¡ri `al¡ wuj£hin¡ fal¡ takbubn¡

وَفِي ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِنَا فَلاَ تَكْبُبْنَا

do not dress us from the clothes of fire and the shirts of tar,

wa min thiy¡bi alnn¡ri wa sar¡b¢li alqa§ir¡ni fal¡ tulbisn¡

وَمِنْ ثِيَابِ ٱلنَّارِ وَسَرَابِيلِ ٱلْقَطِرَانِ فَلاَ تُلْبِسْنَا

and save us from all evils; O He save Whom there is no god!

wa min kulli s£'in y¡ l¡ il¡ha ill¡ anta

وَمِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ يَا لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ

I beseech You in the name of there is no god save You.

bi¦aqqi l¡ il¡ha ill¡ anta fanajjin¡

بِحَقِّ لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ فَنَجِّنَا

O Allah, I beseech You to decide for me

all¡humma inn¢ as'aluka an taj`ala f¢m¡ taq¤¢ wa tuqaddiru

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اسْالُكَ انْ تَجْعَلَ فِيمَا تَقْضِي وَتُقَدِّرُ

while taking decisions and rendering possible things and events decisively—

min al-amri alma¦t£mi f¢ al-amri al¦ak¢mi

مِنَ ٱلامْرِ ٱلْمَحْتُومِ فِي ٱلامْرِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ

decisions which can not be changed or bypassed—

min alqa¤¡'i alladh¢ l¡ yuraddu wa l¡ yubaddalu

مِنَ ٱلْقَضَاءِ ٱلَّذِي لاَ يُرَدُّ وَلاَ يُبَدَّلُ

to write my name in the list of those pilgrims of Your Holy House

an taktuban¢ min ¦ujj¡ji baytika al¦ar¡mi

انْ تَكْتُبَنِي مِنْ حُجَّاجِ بَيْتِكَ ٱلْحَرَامِ

whose pilgrimage receives Your approval,

almabr£ri ¦ajjuhum

ٱلْمَبْرُورِ حَجُّهُمُ

whose efforts are appreciated,

almashk£ri sa`yuhum

ٱلْمَشْكُورِ سَعْيُهُمُ

whose sins are forgiven,

almaghf£ri dhun£buhum

ٱلْمَغْفُورِ ذُنُوبُهُمُ

whose wrongdoings are overlooked,

almukaffari `an sayyi'¡tihim

ٱلْمُكَفَّرِ عَنْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ

and, while making decisions and rendering possible things and events,

wa an taj`ala f¢m¡ taq¤¢ wa tuqaddiru

وَانْ تَجْعَلَ فِيمَا تَقْضِي وَتُقَدِّرُ

make possible for me long life, goodness, welfare,

an tu§¢la `umr¢ f¢ khayrin wa `¡fiyatin

انْ تُطِيلَ عُمْرِي فِي خَيْرٍ وَعَافِيَةٍ

and enough means of livelihood,

wa tuwassi`a f¢ rizq¢

وَتُوَسِّعَ في رِزْقِي

include me with those whom You use for backing Your Religion,

wa taj`alan¢ mimman tanta¥iru bih¢ lid¢nika

وَتَجْعَلَنِي مِمَّنْ تَنْتَصِرُ بِهِ لِدِينِكَ

and do not substitute another in my place.

wa l¡ tastabdil b¢ ghayr¢

وَلاَ تَسْتَبْدِلْ بِي غَيْرِي

I seek refuge with the majesty of Your Honorable Face

a`£dhu bijal¡li wajhika alkar¢mi

اعُوذُ بِجَلالِ وَجْهِكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ

against that the month of Rama¤¡n elapses

an yanqa¤iya `ann¢ shahru rama¤¡na

انْ يَنْقَضِيَ عَنِّي شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ

or dawn breaks this night,

aw ya§lu`a alfajru min laylat¢ h¡dhih¢

اوْ يَطْلُعَ ٱلْفَجْرُ مِنْ لَيْلَتِي هٰذِهِ

and there is still a sin or an offense in my record for which You may chastise me.

wa laka qibal¢ tabi`atun aw dhanbun tu`adhdhibun¢ `alayhi

وَلَكَ قِبَلِي تَبِعَةٌ اوْ ذَنْبٌ تُعَذِّبُنِي عَلَيْهِ

إِلٰهِي وَقَفَ ٱلسَّائِلُونَ بِبَابِكَ

il¡h¢ waqafa alss¡'il£na bib¡bika

O my God, the beseechers have stood at Your Door,

وَلاذَ ٱلفُقَراءُ بِجَنابِكَ

wa l¡dha alfuqar¡'u bijan¡bika

the poor have resorted to Your refuge,

وَوَقَفَتْ سَفِينَةُ ٱلمسَاكِينِ عَلَىٰ سَاحِلِ بَحْرِ جُودِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ

wa waqafat saf¢natu almas¡k¢ni `al¡ s¡¦ili ba¦ri j£dika wa karamika

and the ship of the needy have cast anchor near the coast of the sea of Your Magnanimity and Generosity,

يَرْجُونَ ٱلجَوَازَ إِلَىٰ سَاحَةِ رَحْمَتِكَ وَنِعْمَتِكَ

yarj£na aljaw¡za il¡ s¡¦ati ra¦matika wa ni`matika

hoping for permission to enter the yard of Your Mercy and Favor.

إِلٰهِي إِنْ كُنْتَ لاَ تَرْحَم فِي هٰذَا ٱلشَّهْرِ ٱلشَّرِيفِ

il¡h¢ in kunta l¡ tar¦amu f¢ h¡dh¡ alshshahri alshshar¢f¢

O my God, If You, in this holy month, will have mercy upon none

إِلاَّ مَنْ اخْلَصَ لَكَ فِي صِيَامِهِ وَقِيَامِهِ

ill¡ man akhla¥a laka f¢ ¥iy¡mih¢ wa qiy¡mih¢

but those who sincerely observe fasting and do acts of worship to You,

فَمَنْ لِلْمُذْنِبِ ٱلْمُقَصِّرِ

faman lilmudhnibi almuqa¥¥iri

who will then stand for the sinful and the negligent

إِذَا غَرِقَ فِي بَحْرِ ذُنُوبِهِ وَآثَامِهِ

idh¡ ghariqa f¢ ba¦ri dhun£bih¢ wa ¡th¡mih¢

then they sink in the ocean of their sins and offenses?

إِلٰهِي إِنْ كُنْتَ لاَ تَرْحَم إِلاَّ ٱلْمُطِيعِينَ

il¡h¢ in kunta l¡ tar¦amu ill¡ almu§¢`¢na

O my God, if you have mercy upon non but the obedient to You,

فَمَنْ لِلْعَاصِينَ

faman lil`¡¥¢na

who will then stand for the disobedient?

وَإِنْ كُنْتَ لاَ تَقْبَل إِلاَّ مِنَ ٱلعَامِلِينَ

wa in kunta l¡ taqbalu ill¡ min al`¡mil¢na

If You accept none but those who do acts of worship to You,

فَمَنْ للْمُقَصِّرِينَ

faman lilmuqa¥¥ir¢na

who will then stand for the negligent?

إِلٰهِي رَبِحَ ٱلصَّائِمُونَ

Il¡h¢ rabi¦a al¥¥¡'im£na

O my God, the observers of fasting have won,

وَفَازَ ٱلقَائِمُونَ

wa f¡za alq¡'im£na

the doers of acts of worship to You have prospered,

وَنَجَا ٱلُمخْلِصُونَ

wa naj¡ almukhli¥£na

and those who act sincerely have been saved.

وَنَحْنُ عَبِيدُكَ ٱلْمُذْنِبُونَ

wa na¦nu `ab¢duka almudhnib£na

But we, Your sinful servants, beseech Your mercy;

فَٱرْحَمْنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ

far¦amn¡ bira¦matika

so, (please do) have mercy upon us,

وَاعْتِقْنَا مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ بَعَفْوِك

wa a`tiqn¡ min alnn¡ri bi`afwika

release us from the chastisement of Hellfire, out of Your pardon,

وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا

waghfir lan¡ dhun£ban¡

and forgive our sins,

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

bira¦matika y¡ ar¦ama alrr¡¦im¢na

in the name of Your mercy. O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!
