Among the valuable supplications that have been mentioned in this regard is Dua Nudbah which is recorded in Zaadul Maad[1] from the Sixth Imam (a.s.). It is emphasized that it must be recited on for Eids; Friday, Eidul Fitr, Eidul Qurban and Eid Ghadeer.
In Mazar Bihar,[2] it is narrated from Sayyid Ibne Tawoos that he said: Muhammad bin Ali bin Abi Qurra says: I have quoted Dua Nudbah from the book of Muhammad bin Husain bin Sufyan Bazufari and it should be remembered that this supplication is for the Leader of the Time (a.s.) and it is recommended to recite it on the four Eids.
Also, the great scholar, Muhaddith Noori has mentioned this Dua in Tahiyatuz Zaer from Misbahuz Zaer[3] of Sayyid Ibne Tawoos and Mazaar of Muhammad bin Mash-hadi from Muhammad bin Ali bin Abi Qurra on the authority of the book of Bazufari. In the same way Noori (r.a.) has also narrated it from Mazaar (Old) and adds that it is recommended to recite it on Friday eve also.
It is recommended to say this supplication on the four feast days; namely, the `«d al-Fi§r day (1st of Shaww¡l), the `«d al-A¤¦¡ day (10th of Dhu’l-°ijjah), the `«d al-Ghad¢r day (18th of Du’l-°ijjah), and Fridays.
This supplication is as follows:
|
All praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds. |

“If only You had sent to us a warning messenger |
|
wa aqamta lan¡ `alaman h¡diyan |
and established for us a guiding person, |
|
fanattabi`a ¡y¡tika min qabli an nadhilla wa nakhz¡ |
we should have followed Your signs before that we met humiliation and disgrace!” |
|
il¡ an intahayta bil-amri il¡ ¦ab¢bika wa naj¢bika mu¦ammadin |
You then ended the matter with Your most-beloved and well-select one, Mu¦ammad, |
|
¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢ |
may Allah bless him and his Household. |
|
fak¡na kam¡ intajabtah£ |
He was—as exactly as You have chosen— |
|
sayyida man khalaqtah£ |
the master of all those whom You created, |
|
wa ¥afwata man i¥§afaytah£ |
the best of all those whom You selected, |
|
wa af¤ala man ijtabaytah£ |
the most favorite of all those whom You pointed out, |
|
wa akrama man i`tamadtah£ |
and the noblest of all those on whom You decided. |
|
qaddamtah£ `al¡ anbiy¡'ika |
So, You preferred him to Your prophets, |
|
wa ba`athtah£ il¡ alththaqalayni min `ib¡dika |
sent him to the two dependents (men and jinn) from Your servants, |
|
wa aw§a'tah£ mash¡riqaka wa magh¡ribaka |
enabled him to tread on the east and the west of Your lands, |
|
wa sakhkharta lah£ albur¡qa |
made subservient to him the Bur¡q (the celestial sumpter), |
|
wa `arajta bir£¦ih¢ il¡ sam¡'ika |
raised his soul to Your heavens, |
|
wa awda`tah£ `ilma m¡ k¡na |
and entrusted with him the knowledge of whatever passed |
|
wa m¡ yak£nu il¡ inqi¤¡'i khalqika |
and whatever shall come to pass up to the extinction of Your creatures. |
|
thumma na¥artah£ bilrru`bi |
You then granted him victory by means of horror |
|
ordered (Archangels) Gabriel and Michael |
|
walmusawwim¢na min mal¡'ikatika |
as well as the marked angels to surround him, |
|
wa wa`adtah£ an tu¨hira d¢nah£ `al¡ aldd¢ni kullih¢ |
and promised him to make his faith prevail all other faiths |
|
wa law kariha almushrik£na |
however much the polytheists may be averse. |
|
wa dh¡lika ba`da an bawwa'tah£ mubawwa'a ¥idqin min ahlih¢ |
You did all that after You had settled him in an honest position among his people, |
|
wa ja`alta lah£ wa lahum awwala baytin |
made for him and them the first house |
|
wu¤i`a lilnn¡si lalladh¢ bibakkata |
ever located for the people; that is the house in Bakkah, |
|
mub¡rakan wa hudan lil`¡lam¢na |
blessed and guidance for the worlds. |
|
f¢hi ¡y¡tun bayyin¡tun |
In it, there are clear-cut proofs. |
|
maq¡mu ibr¡h¢ma |
It is the standing-place of Abraham, |
|
wa man dakhalah£ k¡na ¡minan |
and whoever enters it will be secured. |
|
wa qulta innam¡ yur¢du all¡hu liyudhhiba `ankum alrrijsa |
You also said, “Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, |

O people of the House, |
|
wa yu§ahhirakum tath¢ran |
and to purify you a thorough purifying.” |
|
thumma ja`alta ajra mu¦ammadin |
You then decided the reward of Mu¦ammad, |
|
¥alaw¡tuka `alayhi wa ¡lih¢ |
Your blessings be upon him and his Household, |
|
mawaddatahum f¢ kit¡bika |
to be the love for them; as in Your Book |
|
faqulta qul l¡ as'alukum `alayhi ajran |
You said, “Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it |
|
ill¡ almawaddata f¢ alqurb¡ |
but love for my near relatives.” |
|
wa qulta m¡ sa'altukum min ajrin fahuwa lakum |
You also said, “Whatever reward I have asked of you, that is only for yourselves.” |
|
wa qulta m¡ as'alukum `alayhi min ajrin |
You also said, “I do not ask you aught in return |
|
ill¡ man sh¡'a an yattakhidha il¡ rabbih¢ sab¢lan |
except that he who wills, may take the way to his Lord.” |
|
fak¡n£ hum alssab¢la ilayka |
They (i.e. the Prophet’s Household) have therefore been the way to You |
|
walmaslaka il¡ ri¤w¡nika |
and the course to Your pleasure. |
|
falamm¡ inqa¤at ayy¡muh£ |
When his (i.e. the Prophet) days passed, |
|
aq¡ma waliyyah£ `aliyya bna ab¢ §¡libin |
he appointed as successor his vicegerent `Al¢ the son of Ab£-±¡lib, |
|
¥alaw¡tuka `alayhim¡ wa ¡lihim¡ h¡diyan |
Your blessings be upon both of them and their Household, |
|
idh k¡na huwa almundhira |
because he (the Prophet) was the warner |
|
wa likulli qawmin h¡din |
and `Al¢ was the guide for every people. |
|
faq¡la walmala'u am¡mah£ |
So, he (the Prophet) said in the presence of the people, |
|
man kuntu mawl¡hu |
“As for each one who has taken me as his master, |
|
fa`aliyyun mawl¡hu |
`Al¢ is now his master. |
|
all¡humma w¡li man w¡l¡hu |
O Allah, guard any one who is loyal to `Al¢, |
|
wa `¡di man `¡d¡hu |
be the enemy of any one who antagonizes him, |
|
wan¥ur man na¥arah£ |
support any one who supports him, |
|
wakhdhul man khadhalah£ |
and disappoint any one who disappoints him.” |
|
wa q¡la man kuntu an¡ nabiyyah£ fa`aliyyun am¢ruh£ |
He also said, “As for any one who has considered me as his Prophet, `Al¢ is now his commander.” |
|
He also said, “`Al¢ and I are of the same tree, |
|
wa s¡'iru alnn¡si min shajarin shatt¡ |
while all the other peoples are from various trees.” |
|
wa a¦allah£ ma¦alla h¡r£na min m£s¡ |
He endued him (i.e. `Al¢) with the position that (Prophet) Aaron had with regard to (Prophet) Moses, |
|
faq¡l lah£ anta minn¢ bimanzilati h¡r£na min m£s¡ |
saying, “Your position to me is as same as Aaron’s position to Moses (in every thing) |
|
ill¡ annah£ l¡ nabiyya ba`d¢ |
except that there shall be no prophet after me.” |
|
wa zawwajah£ ibnatah£ sayyidata nis¡'i al`¡lam¢na |
He gave him in marriage his daughter the doyenne of the women of the worlds. |
|
wa a¦alla lah£ min masjidih¢ m¡ ¦alla lah£ |
He allowed him (alone) to do whatever he himself is allowed to do in his Mosque. |
|
wa sadda al-abw¡ba ill¡ b¡bah£ |
He closed all the doors (to the Mosque) except his (i.e. `Al¢) door. |
|
thumma awda`ah£ `ilmah£ wa ¦ikmatah£ |
He then entrusted with him his knowledge and his wisdom, |
|
faq¡la an¡ mad¢natu al`ilmi |
saying, “I am the city of knowledge, |
|
wa `aliyyun b¡buh¡ |
and `Al¢ is its door. |
|
faman ar¡da almad¢nata wal¦ikmata |
So, whoever wants this city and wisdom, |
|
falya'tih¡ min b¡bih¡ |
must come to it from its door.” |
|
thumma q¡la anta akh¢ wa wa¥iyy¢ wa w¡rith¢ |
He then said (to `Al¢), “You are my brother, successor, and inheritor. |
|

wa damuka min dam¢ |
your blood is part of my blood, |
|
wa silmuka silm¢ |
your peace is my peace, |
|
wa ¦arbuka ¦arb¢ |
your war is my war, |
|
wal-¢m¡nu mukh¡li§un la¦maka wa damaka |
and faith is mixed with your flesh and blood |
|
kam¡ kh¡la§a la¦m¢ wa dam¢ |
as same as it is mixed with my flesh and blood. |
|
wa anta ghadan `al¡ al¦aw¤i khal¢fat¢ |
On the morrow, you shall be my vicegerent on the (Divine) Pond. |
|
wa anta taq¤¢ dayn¢ |
You also settle my debts |
|
wa tunjizu `id¡t¢ |
and fulfill my commitments. |
|
wa sh¢`atuka `al¡ man¡bira min n£rin |
Your Sh¢`ah (i.e. adherents) shall be on pulpits of light, |
|
mubya¤¤atan wuj£huhum ¦awl¢ f¢ aljannati |
white-faced, around me in Paradise. |
|
wa hum j¢r¡n¢ |
They are my neighbors (therein). |
|
wa lawl¡ anta y¡ `aliyyu |
Were it not for you `Al¢, |
|

true believers would not be recognized after me.” |
|
wa k¡na ba`dah£ hudan min al¤¤al¡li |
Hence, he (i.e. `Al¢), after the Prophet, was true guidance against straying off, |
|
wa n£ran min al`am¡ |
light against blindness, |
|
wa ¦abla all¡hi almat¢na |
the firmest rope of Allah, |
|
wa ¥ir¡§ah£ almustaq¢ma |
and His straight path. |
|
l¡ yusbaqu biqar¡batin f¢ ra¦imin |
None would precede him in blood relation (with the Prophet) |
|
wa l¡ bis¡biqatin f¢ d¢nin |
or any priority in a religious affair, |
|
wa l¡ yul¦aqu f¢ manqabatin min man¡qibih¢ |
and none would ever match him in any item of virtue. |
|
ya¦dh£ ¦adhwa alrras£li |
He patterned after the Messenger, |
|
¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhim¡ wa ¡lihim¡ |
may Allah’s blessings be upon both of them and their Household. |
|
wa yuq¡tilu `al¡ altta'w¢li |
He fought for the sake of true interpretation (of the Qur'¡n). |
|
wa l¡ ta'khudhuh£ f¢ all¡hi lawmatu l¡'imin |
The blame of any blamer would never stop him from doing anything for the sake of Allah. |
|
qad watara f¢hi ¥an¡d¢da al`arabi |
He thus exterminated the villains of the Arabs, |
|
wa qatala ab§¡lahum |
killed their heroes, |
|
wa n¡washa dhu'b¡nahum |
and eradicated their ferocious fighters. |
|
fa'awda`a qul£bahum a¦q¡dan |
He therefore filled in their hearts with malice |
|
badriyyatan wa khaybariyyatan wa ¦unayniyyatan wa ghayrahunna |
from the battles of Badr, Khaybar, and °unayn as well as others. |
|
fa'a¤abbat `al¡ `ad¡watih¢ |
Therefore, they clang inseparably to opposing him |
|
wa akabbat `al¡ mun¡badhatih¢ |
and attached upon dissenting him |
|

until he had to kill the preachers, the unjust, and the apostates. |
|
wa lamm¡ qa¤¡ na¦bah£ |
When he passed away |
|

and he was killed by the most miserable of all of the late generations who will be attached to the most miserable of the past generations, |
|
lam yumtathal amru ras£li all¡hi |
the decree of Allah’s Messenger, |
|
¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢ |
may Allah bless him and his Household, |
|
f¢ alh¡d¢na ba`da alh¡d¢na |
about the leadership of the successive guiding ones was not carried out; |
|

rather, the people insisted on detesting him |
|

and agreed unanimously on rupturing their relations with him |
|

and moving away his descendants (from leadership), |

except for a few ones who fulfilled the duty of observing their rights. |
|
faqutila man qutila |
Many (of `Al¢’s descendants) were therefore slain, |
|
wa subiya man subiya |
many others were taken as captives, |
|
wa uq¥iya man uq¥iya |
and many others were banished. |
|
wa jar¡ alqa¤¡'u lahum |
Decrees were thus applied to them |
|
bim¡ yurj¡ lah£ ¦usnu almath£bati |
in a form expected to grant them excellent reward for that. |
|

Verily, the earth is Allah’s; |
|
y£rithuh¡ man yash¡'u min `ib¡dih¢ |
He gives it in inheritance to whomever of His servants that He wishes; |
|

and the end result shall be for the pious. |
|

All glory be to our Lord. |
|

Most certainly, the promise of our Lord shall come to pass. |
|

Allah shall never fail to fulfill His promise. |
|

wa huwa al`az¢zu al¦ak¢mu |
He is the Almighty, the All-wise. |

For them too, let lamenters lament. |
|

For the like of them, let tears be shed, |
