Tasbih at Dawn



As mentioned in the book of Iqbal al-A`mal, it is recommended to recite the following invocation of glorifying Almighty Allah (tasbihat):
سُبْحَانَ مَنْ يَعْلَمُ جَوَارِحَ ٱلقُلُوبِ
subhana man ya`lamu jawariha alqulubi
Glory be to Him Who is aware of what hearts and minds strive to obtain!

سُبْحَانَ مَنْ يُحْصِي عَدَدَ ٱلذُّنُوبِ
subhana man yuhsi `adada aldhdhunubi
Glory be to Him Who knows the exact count of the sins!

سُبْحَانَ مَنْ لاَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْهِ خَافِيَةٌ فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلأَرَضِينَ
subhana man la yakhfa `alayhi khafiyatun fi alssamawati wal-aradina
Glory be to Him from whose view nothing in the heavens and the earths is concealed!

سُبْحَانَ ٱلرَّبِّ ٱلْوَدُودِ
subhana alrrabbi alwadudi
Glory be to the Loving Lord!

سُبْحَانَ ٱلفَرْدِ ٱلوِتْرِ
subhana alfardi alwitri
Glory be to the Unique and Single!

سُبْحَانَ ٱلعَظِيمِ ٱلأَعْظَمِ
subhana al`azimi al-a`zami
Glory be to the Greatest and Great!

سُبْحَانَ مَنْ لاَ يَعْتَدِي عَلَىٰ أَهْلِ مَمْلَكَتِهِ
subhana man la ya`tadi `ala ahli mamlakatihi
Glory be to Him Who does not transgress against the inhabitants of his kingdom!

سُبْحَانَ مَنْ لاَ يُؤَاخِذُ أَهْلَ ٱلأَرْضِ بِأَلْوَانِ ٱلْعَذَابِ
subhana man la yu'akhidhu ahla al-ardi bi-alwani al`adhabi
Glory be to Him Who does not bring down any kind of punishment upon the inhabitants of the earth!

سُبْحَانَ ٱلْحَنَّانِ ٱلْمَنَّانِ
subhana alhannani almannani
Glory be to the Kind and Compassionate!

سُبْحَانَ ٱلرَّؤُوفِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
subhana alrra'ufi alrrahimi
Glory be to the Oft-Forgiving and Merciful!

سُبْحَانَ ٱلْجَبَّارِ ٱلْجَوَادِ
subhana aljabbari aljawadi
Glory be to the Omnipotent and All-magnanimous!

سُبْحَانَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ ٱلْحَلِيمِ
subhana alkarimi alhalimi
Glory be to the Indulgent and Liberal!

سُبْحَانَ ٱلْبَصِيرِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ
subhana albasiri al`alimi
Glory be to the Discerning and Wise!

سُبْحَانَ ٱلْبَصِيرِ ٱلْوَاسِعِ
subhana albasiri alwasi`i
Glory be to the Comprehending and All-Wise!

سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ إِقْبَالِ ٱلنَّهَارِ
subhana allahi `ala iqbali alnnahari
Glory be to Allah at the time of Daybreak!

سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ إِدْبَارِ ٱلنَّهَارِ
subhana allahi `ala idbari alnnahari
Glory be to Allah at the time of sunset!

سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ إِدْبَارِ ٱللَّيْلِ وَإِقْبَالِ ٱلنَّهَارِ
subhana allahi `ala idbari allayli wa iqbali alnnahari
Glory be to Allah in the zero hours of the departing night and in the twilight of the dawning day!

وَلَهُ ٱلحَمْدُ وَٱلْمَجْدُ وَٱلعَظَمَةُ وَٱلكِبْرِيَاءُ
wa lahu alhamdu walmajdu wal`azamatu walkibriya’u
To Him alone is the praise, might, greatness, and omnipotence

مَعَ كُلِّ نَفَسٍ وَكُلِّ طَرْفَةِ عَيْنٍ
ma`a kulli nafasin wa kulli tarfati `aynin
with every breath and every twinkle of an eye,

وَكُلِّ لَمْحَةٍ سَبَقَ فِي عِلْمِهِ
wa kulli lamhatin sabaqa fi `ilmihi
and every moment is already registered in His all embracing awareness.

سُبْحَانَكَ مِلْءَ مَا أَحْصَىٰ كِتَابُكَ
subhanaka mil'a ma ahsa kitabuka
Glory be to You for the infinite range that covers Your Book!

سُبْحَانَكَ زِنَةَ عَرْشِكَ
subhanaka zinata `arshika
Glory be to You—Glory that is equal to the measure of Your Throne!

سُبْحَانَكَ سُبْحَانَكَ سُبْحَانَكَ
subhanaka subhanaka subhanaka
Glory be to You! Glory be to You! Glory be to You!
