First:Sayyid Ibn Tawus
Sayyid Ibn Tawus (may Allah have mercy upon him) in his book of Muhaj al-Da`awat has reported Sa`id ibn Abi’l-Fath of Wasit as saying:
I was once inflicted by a serious disease that overtired all physicians. Therefore, my father took me to the hospital where all physicians, headed by the Christian doctor of medicine, tried to find me treatment, but failed. Finally, they had to confess, “This disease cannot be healed except by God the All-exalted.” With breaking heart and distress, I had to go back home. Browsing one of my father’s books, I found the following inscribed on the back of the book:
Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said: Any diseased person who repeats these statements forty times immediately after the Dawn Prayer and then rubs the painful part with his hand, Almighty Allah will free him from the disease and restore him to health:

bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

alhamdu lillahi rabbi al`alamina
All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

hasbuna allahu wa ni`ma alwakilu
Sufficient to us is Allah, and most excellent is the Protector.

tabaraka allahu ahsanu alkhaliqina
Blessed be Allah, the Best of all creators.

There is neither might nor power save with Allah, the Most High and All-great.

I, the patient, waited for dawn, performed the obligatory prayer, and sat in my place repeating these words while I was fearful lest the pains would return to me. Keeping on this state for three days, the disease was gone. My father, after I had told him about this, thanked Almighty Allah. When he informed one of the physicians about the restoration of my health, the physician, who was non-Muslim, visited and examined me. When he was sure that my disease had gone, he converted to Islam, bore witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God, and committed himself to the teachings of Islam.
Second:Al-Kaf`ami
Al-Kaf`ami, in his book entitled al-Misbah, has mentioned that whoever is diseased, may rub over the place of his prostration (in prayers) with his hand and then rub the ailed organ after each obligatory prayer seven times. He may then say the following supplicatory prayer:

ya man kabasa al-arda `ala alma'i
O He Who has pressed the earth on water,

wa sadda alhawa'a bilssama'i
blocked the air with the sky,

wakhtara linafsihi ahsana al-asma'i
and chose for Himself the most excellent of all names,

salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
(please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

waf`al bi…
do to me…

warzuqni wa `afini min…
grant me sustenance, and cure me

[Instead of the three dots, you may submit your requests and mention your ailed organ.]

allahumma a`inni `ala hawli yawmi alqiyamati
O Allah, (please) help me encounter the horror of the Resurrection Day,

wa akhrijni min alddunya saliman
take me out of this world soundly,

wa zawwijni min alhuri al`ini
give me in marriage the Paradisiacal women,

wakfini ma'unati wa ma'unata `iyali
save me from procuring the provisions of myself, my family members,

wa ma'unata alnnasi
and people,

wa adkhilni birahmatika fi `ibadika alssalihina
and include me, in the name of Your mercy, with Your righteous servants.

Third:Prayer for restoration of Health
Quoting Misbah al-Mutahajjid, al-Kaf`ami has reported that whoever is ailed, may say the following supplicatory prayer in the second prostration of the first two units of the Night Prayer:

ya `aliyyu ya `zimu
O Most High! O All-great!

ya rahmanu ya rahimu
O All-beneficent! O All-merciful!

ya sami`a aldda`awati
O Hearer of all prayers!

ya mu`tiya alkhayrati
O Giver of the good things!

salli `ala muhammadin wa alihi
(Please) bless Muhammad and his Household,

wa a`tini min khayri alddunya wal-akhirati ma anta ahluhu
give me from the good of this world and the Next World in the amount that fits You,

wasrif `anni min sharri alddunya wal-akhirati ma anta ahluhu
dispel from me the evils of this world and the Next World in the way that fits You,

wa adhhib `anni hadha alwaja`a…
and remove from me this ailment…The disease or ailment may be now mentioned…

fa'innahu qad ghazani wa ahzanani
for it has enraged and depressed me.

It is recommended to supplicate earnestly, because the more earnest the sooner in response.
Fourth: Quoted from `Uddat al-Da`i, Imam al-Sadiq (`a)
When you are ailed, go outdoors, raise your hands towards the sky, and say the following supplicatory prayer:

allahumma innaka `ayyarta aqwaman fi kitabika
O Allah! Having rebuked some people in Your Book,

faqulta qul id`u alladhina za`amtum min dunihi
You said, “Say, ‘Call on those whom you assert besides Him.

They shall not control the removal of distress from you nor its transference.’”

O He save Whom no one controls the removal of distress nor its transference,

salli `ala muhammadin wa alihi
(please) bless Muhammad and his Household,

wakshif durri
remove my distress,

wa hawwilhu ila man yad`u ma`aka ilahan akhara
and transfer it to one who calls on another deity besides You,

fa'inni ashhadu an la ilaha ghayruka
for I bear witness that there is no god save You.

Fifth:
It is also reported that any believer who is diseased or ailed, should rub the ailed organ with his hand and repeat the following (holy verse) with sincerity:

“[And] We reveal of the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy for believers

wa la yazidu alzzalimina illa khasaran
though it increase the evil-doers in naught save ruin.”

If he does, he will be restored to health no matter what his disease would be. Confirming this, the holy verse corroborates that it carries healing and mercy to the believers.
Sixth: :
An ailed person is recommended to purchase one sa`([1]) of wheat, lie on his back, disperse the wheat grains on his chest, and say the following supplicatory prayer:
allahumma inni as'aluka bismika
O Allah, I beseech You in the name of Your Name—

alladhi idha sa'alaka bihi almudtarra kashafta ma bihi min durrin
if the distressed asks You by Your Name, You shall remove whatever harm he suffers,

wa makkanta lahu fi al-ardi
give him power in the land,

wa ja`altahu khalifataka `ala khalqika
and make him Your representative among Your creatures

an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa `ala ahli baytihi
to bless Muhammad and his Household

wa an tu`afiyani min `illati
and to cure me of my ailment.

He may then sit, gather the wheat grains around him, repeat the same supplicatory prayer, divide the wheat grains into four shares, give each share to a poor man, and repeat the same supplicatory prayer. Once an ailed person does all that, he will be restored to health, Allah willing.
Seventh:Imam `Ali (`a) is reported
Imam `Ali (`a) is reported to have said: Put your hand on the ailed organ and repeat the following supplicatory prayer three times:
allahu allahu allahu rabbi haqqan
Allah, Allah, Allah is my Lord indeed.

la ushriku bihi shay'an
I do not associate with Him anything.

allahumma anta laha wa likulli `azimatin fafarrijha
O Allah, You are the only besought for this and for every terrible thing; so (please) relieve it.

Eighth:
Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said in this regard: You may put your hand on the ailed organ and say:

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ bismillahi
In the Name of Allah. You may then rub the ailed organ with your hand and repeat the following evil-repelling prayer (`udhah) seven times:
a`udhu bi`izzati allahi
I pray for the protection of Allah’s almightiness,

wa a`udhu biqudrati allahi
I pray for the protection of Allah’s omnipotence,

wa a`udhu birasuli allahi salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi
I pray for the protection of Allah’s Messenger, may Allah’s blessings be upon him and hisHousehold,<

wa a`udhu bi-asma'i allahi
and I pray for the protection of Allah’s Names

min sharri ma ahdharu
against the evil of what I concern

wa min sharri ma akhafu `ala nafsi
and the evil of what I fear for myself.

Ninth:for child
It is reported that when a child is ailed, the mother may ascend to a roof, throw the head cover away, expose the hair of her head under the sky, prostrate herself, and say the following supplication:

allahumma rabbi anta a`taytanihi
O Allah, O my Lord! It is You Who have given him to me

wa anta wahabtahu li
and it is You Who have endued me with Him.

allahumma faj`al hibataka alyawma jadidatan
O Allah, so (please) renew Your donation to me on this day.

innaka qadirun muqtadirun
You are verily all-powerful and omnipotent.

The mother will not raise her head from the prostration but that her child is restored to health.
Tenth: Dawud al-Raqqi has said: Whenever he insisted in prayers, Imam al-Sadiq (`a) would pray Almighty Allah in the name of the Five Persons: the Holy Prophet, Imam `Ali, Lady Fatimah, Imam al-Hasan, and Imam al-Husayn, peace be upon them.

Eleventh: Al-Shahid
Al-Shahid, may Allah have mercy upon him, has reported that whoever is tensely ailed may recite Surah al-Fatihah forty times on a glass of water. He may then pour the water on his body. He may have a measure of wheat near him and hand over each beggar a measure and ask him to pray Almighty Allah to cure him. If he does so, he will be restored to health, Allah willing. “Medicate your patients with alms.” This saying is reported through considerable chains of authority.
With reference to removal of diseases, al-Shahid has also reported that the right arm of a patient may be held while reciting Surah al-Fatihah seven times. After that, the following supplicatory prayer may be said:

allahumma azil `anhu al`ilala waldda'a
O Allah, (please) remove ailments and maladies from him,

wa a`id-hu ila alssihhati walshshifa'i
restore him to health and cure,

wa amiddahu bihusni alwiqayati
supply him with excellent protection,

wa ruddahu ila husni al`afiyati

allahumma wa salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

If this does not work, Surah al-Fatihah may be repeated seventy times, and it will be effective, Allah willing.
allahumma munna `alayya bilttawakkuli `alayka

wa la ta'khira ma `ajjalta
and delaying what You hasten.

ya rabba al`alamina
O Lord of the worlds!

Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said: Allah will certainly cure any ailed believer who says the following verse sincerely while rubbing his ailed organ with his hand:

Imam al-Rida (`a) is reported to have said: For all ailments, you may say the following supplicatory prayer:

salli `ala muhammadin wa alihi
and reveal cure upon my ailment.

Thirteenth:
Sayyid Ibn Tawus, may Allah have mercy upon him, has mentioned the following narration in his book entitled Muhaj al-Da`awat:
Ibn `Abbas is reported to have said that he was once present with Imam `Ali (`a) when a faint-faced man visited him and said, “O Commander of the Faithful, I am diseased person and many ailments and aches have afflicted me. So, please teach me a supplicatory prayer that helps me endure my ailments.” Answering him, Imam `Ali (`a) said, “I will lead you to a supplicatory prayer that was taught by Archangel Gabriel to the Holy Prophet (s) when al-Hasan and al-Husayn fell ill. This is it:

ilahi kullama an`amta `alayya ni`matan
O my God, whenever You bestow upon me a favor,

qalla laka `indaha shukri
I am too short to thank it properly.

wa kullama ibtalaytani bibaliyyatin
Whenever You test me with a tribulation,

I am too short to endure it.

faya man qalla shukri `inda ni`amihi falam yahrimni
O He Whose favors have not been thanked by me properly; yet, He has not deprived me of them!

wa yaman qalla sabri `inda bala'ihi falam yakhdhulni

wa ya man ra'ani `ala alma`asi falam yafdahni
O He Who has seen me committing acts of disobedience to Him; yet, He has not exposed me!

wa ya man ra'ani `ala alkhataya falam yu`aqibni `alayha
O He Who has seen me committing wrongdoings; yet, He has not punished me for them!

innaka `ala kulli shay'in qadirun
Verily, You have power over all things.”

Ibn `Abbas added: One year later, I saw the man fresh-faced and glowing. He said, “Whenever I said this supplicatory prayer in sickness, I would be soon restored to health, in ailment, I would be soon cured, and before a despotic authority, I would be protected against him.”

Sixteenth:Headache
Headache 3- Amulet against Headache
Recite the following holy verse on a glass of water and then drink it:

awalam yara alladhina kafaru
“Do not those who disbelieve

anna alssamawati wal-arda
see that the heavens and the earth

kanata ratqan fafataqnahuma
were closed up, but We have opened them

wa ja`alna min alma'i kulla shay'in hayyin
and We have made of water everything living?

afala yu'minuna
Will they not then believe?”

Headache 4:-It is reported that whenever the Holy Prophet (s) was ailed or suffered from headache, he would open his two hands, recite Surah al-Fatihah, Surah al-Falaq, and Surah al-Nas, and then rub his face with his hands. Then, the ache would disappear.
Headache 5:-For those who suffer from headache, while rubbing their heads with the hands, the following holy verse should be recited:
inna allaha yumsiku alssamawati wal-arda an tazula
Surely, Allah upholds the heavens and the earth lest they come to naught;

wa la'in zalata in amsakahuma min ahadin min ba`dihi
and if they should come to naught, there is none who can uphold them after Him.

innahu kana haliman ghafuran
Surely, He is the Forbearing, the Forgiving.

Headache 6:-The following incident is quoted from the book of Rabi` al-Abrar: In Turtus (a city western Syria), Al-Ma'mun, the `Abbasid ruler, was once affected by headache that none could treat. Having heard about this, the Roman emperor sent him a bonnet and a letter in which he wrote, “Having been informed about your headache, I sent you this bonnet so that you would put it on your head and your ache would vanish.” Anticipating that the bonnet would be poisoned, al-Ma'mun ordered the messenger to put it on his head. However, no harm happened to the messenger. Al-Ma'mun then ordered the bonnet to be put on the head of another man who suffered from headache. Therefore, his pain vanished. Only then did he put it on his head and his headache vanished. Surprised, al-Ma'mun untied the bonnet and found the following inscription written therein:
bismi allah alrrahman alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

kam min ni`matin lillahi fi `irqin sakinin
Too many graces of Allah are in dormant vein.

ha-mim `ayn-sin-qaf
ha-mim `ayn-sin-qaf

la yusadda`una `anha wa la yunzifuna
They shall not be affected with headache thereby nor shall they get exhausted.

min kalami alrrahmani khamadati alnniranu
Due to the words of the All-beneficent Lord, fires are extinguished.

There is neither might nor power save with Allah.

wa jala naf`u alddawa'i fika
Let the benefit of medicine pervade in you

kama yajulu ma'u alrrabi`i fi alghusni
just as the spring water pervades in twigs.

His almightiness that is invulnerable,

and His omnipotence against which nothing can stop

min sharri hadha alwaja`i
against the evil of this pain,

wa min sharri ma fihi
the evil of whatever is in it,

wa min sharri ma ajidu minhu
and the evil of what I feel because of it.

Then, the sheet may be washed with rainwater and drunk (1) in the beginning of the day before eating anything and (2) before going to sleep. This is blessed and useful way. It is narrated that a man complained to the Holy Prophet (s) about colitis from which his brother had suffered. The Holy Prophet (s) instructed, “Tell your brother to drink a mixture of honey and hot water.” The next day, the man returned to the Holy Prophet (s) and informed that the prescription was not useful. The Holy Prophet (s) commented, “Allah is truthful, but your brother’s colon is not. Go back, give him the same drink, and recite on it Surah al-Fatihah seven times as prayer for God’s protection.” When the man left, the Holy Prophet (s) said to Imam `Ali (`a), “The brother of this man is hypocrite; therefore, the drink was not effective with him.”

Twenty-fourth:Amulet Against warts
To treat warts—small, benign, and hard excrescence on the skin or on the hand occasionally—for each wart, you may take seven barley seeds. Recite the verses 1-6 of Surah al-Waqi`ah (No. 56) seven times over each seed. Then, recite the following verse seven times over each seed, too:

wa yas'alunaka `an aljibali faqul yansifuha rabbi nasfan
They ask thee concerning the Mountains, say, ‘My Lord will uproot them and scatter them as dust;

fayadharuha qa`an safsafan
He will leave them as plains smooth and level;

la tara fiha `iwajan wa la amtan
Nothing crooked or curved wilt thou see in their place.

You may then blow over it. Take one seed at a time and rub each seed on one wart. Then, put all of the seeds in a piece of cloth, tie up a rock on the piece of cloth, and throw it in a well. This act is said to be advisably done in the waning of the moon. The person is recommended to rub the warts with a piece of salt and recite three times the last four verses of TEXT Surah al-Hashr:
The piece of salt may be then thrown in an oven and the warty person may pass over it hurriedly. Then, the warts will vanish, Allah willing. The author of the book of al-Khaza'in has mentioned that warts may vanish when they are overlaid with the hair-removing powder.( )
Sahifa Alavia 47. His Supplication for Curing Wart
It should be recited in the last seven days of a month.
Wa Masalo Kalematin Khabeesatin Ka-Shajaratin Khabeesate Nij-Tussat Min Fawqil Arze Maa Lahaa Min Qaraar. Wa Bussatil Jebaalo Bassaan. Fa-Kaanat Habaaa-Am Munbassan.
And the parable of an evil word is as an evil tree pulled up from the earth’s surface; it has no stability. And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, So that they shall be as scattered dust.

Twenty-fifth: Amulet against all Tumors
Recite the last four verses of Surah al-Hashr with ponderation while you are ceremonially pure after you have performed the ritual ablution (wudu') before and after an obligatory prayer:
law anzalna hadha al-qur'ana `ala jabalin…
Had We sent down this Qur'an on a mountain…

The swelling will then vanish, Allah willing.
Twenty-sixth:Amulet Against Dystocia /Child birth :
For women suffering from dystocia (i.e. difficult or abnormally painful childbirth), the following holy verses may be written on a parchment and tied to their right thigh. It must be untied after they give birth:

bismillahi alrrahman alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

ka'annahum yawma yarawna ma yu`aduna
On the day that they shall see what they are promised,

lam yalbathu illa sa`atan min naharin
they shall be as if they had not tarried save an hour of the day.

ka'annahum yawma yarawnaha
On the day that they see it,

lam yalbathu illa `ashiyyatan aw duhaha
it will be as though they had not tarried but the latter part of a day or the early part of it.

idh qalat imra'atu `imrana
When a woman of `Imran said:

rabbi inni nadhartu laka ma fi batni muharraran
My Lord! Surely, I vow to You what is in my womb, to be devoted (to Your service);

fataqabbal minni innaka anta alssami`u al`alimu
accept therefore from me. Surely, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.

It is also reported that the following holy verse should be recited over women suffering from dystocia:
fa'aja’aha almakhadu ila jidh`I alnnakhlati
And the throes (of childbirth) compelled her to betake herself to the trunk of a palm tree.

qalat ya laytani mittu qabla hadaa
She said: Oh, would that I had died before this,

wa kuntu nasyan mansiyyan
and had been a thing quite forgotten.

fanadaha min tahtiha alla tahzani
Then (the child) called out to her from beneath her: Grieve not!

qad ja`ala rabbuki tahtaki sariyyan
Surely, your Lord has made a stream to flow beneath you.

wa huzzi ilayki bijidh`i alnnakhlati
And shake towards you the trunk of the palm tree,

tusaqit `alayki rutaban janiyyan
it will drop on you fresh ripe dates.

The reciter should then raise the voice with the following holy verse and the statement following it:
wallahu akhrajakum min butuni ummahatikum
“And Allah has brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers;

la ta`lamuna shay'an
you did not know anything;

wa ja`ala lakumu alssam`a wal-absara wal-af'idata
and He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts

la`allakum tashkuruna
that you may give thanks.”

kadhalika ukhruj ayyuha alttalaqu
So, come out O throes.

ukhruj bi'idhni allahi
Come out, by the permission of Allah.

For easy childbirth, Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have advised of writing the following supplicatory prayer on a sheet of paper or a parchment:
allahumma farija alhammi
O Allah, O reliever of agonies,

wa kashifa alghammi
dispeller of distresses,

wa rahmana alddunya wal-akhirati wa rahimahuma
and beneficent and merciful of this world and the Hereafter,

irham…
(please) have mercy upon…

You may now mention the woman’s name and her mother’s:
rahmatan tughniha biha `an rahmati jami`i khalqika
with such mercy that makes her dispense with the mercy of all of Your creatures,

tafruju biha kurbataha
relieve her anguish,

wa takshifu biha ghammaha
repel her distress,

wa tuyassiru wiladataha
and makes easy her childbirth.

“And judgment shall be given between them with justice,

wa qila alhamdu lillahi rabbi al`alamina
and it shall be said: All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.”

Twenty-seventh: F E V E R
(1) It is recommended to say this supplicatory amulet, which the Holy Prophet (s) taught to Imam `Ali (`a) against fever:

O Allah, (please) have mercy upon my soft skin

for I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,

wahdahu la sharika lahu

wa ashhadu anna muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluhu
and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.

Twenty-eighth:against Tenesmus
It is reported that a man complained to Imam Musa al-Kazim (`a) about suffering from continuous tenesmus (i.e. a frequent, excessive, and painful desire to defecate). As treatment, the Imam (`a) taught the man to say the following supplicatory prayer after the Night Prayer:
allahumma ma kana min khayrin faminka
O Allah, whatsoever good thing I have ever experienced has been from You

la hamda li fihi
and I have no praiseworthy thing about it.

wa ma `amiltu min su'in faqad hadhdhartanihi
As for whatsoever evil I have done, You have already warned me against it;

la `udhra li fihi
therefore, I am not excused in doing it at all.

allahumma inni a`udhu bika an attakila `ala ma la hamda li fihi
O Allah, I thus pray Your protection against that I rely upon things that I have nopraiseworthy interference it them

aw amana mimma la `udhra li fihi
or that I feel secure against things that I am unexcused in committing them.

Twenty-ninth:Stomach Gurgling
Imam Musa al-Kazim (`a) is also reported to have advised the same previous supplicatory prayer to be said after the Night Prayer by those who suffer from stomach gurgling. [A man said to him, “I suffer from stomach gurgling that never stops. Therefore, I feel embarrassed when people to whom I speak hear the sounds of such gurgling. So, please pray Allah to cure me of it.]
Imam al-Sadiq (`a), advising those who suffer from stomach gurgling, said, “Black cumin may be mixed with honey and then eaten.”
Thirtieth:Leprosy
Yunus has reported that whitish scales between the eyes affected him. He therefore complained about this disease to Imam al-Sadiq (`a) who, leading him to a treatment, said: You may pure yourself ceremonially, offer a two-unit prayer, and say this (supplicatory prayer):

ya allahu ya rahmanu ya rahimu
O Allah! O All-beneficent! O All-merciful!

ya sami`a aldda`awati
O Hearer of prayers!

ya mu`tiya alkhayrati
O Donor of the good!

a`tini khayra alddunya wa khayra al-akhirati
(Please) give me the good of this world and the good of the Hereafter,

wa qini sharra alddunya wa sharra al-akhirati
protect me against the evil of this world and the evil of the Hereafter,

wa adhhib `anni ma ajidu
and remove from me what I am facing,

faqad ghazani al-amru wa ahzanani
for this matter has enraged and saddened me.

Reporting the same narration, the author of `Uddat al-Da`i has reported Imam al-Sadiq (`a) as saying:
In the beginning of the last third of night, you may perform the ritual ablution (wudu') and offer the prayer you usually offer at this time. In the second prostration of the first two units of the prayer, you may say the following (supplicatory prayer) while you are in a state of prostration:
ya `aliyyu ya `azimu
O Most High! O All-great!

ya rahmanu ya rahimu
O All-beneficent! O All-merciful!

ya sami`a aldda`awati
O Hearer of prayers!

ya mu`tiya alkhayrati
O Donor of the good!

salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
(Please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

wa a`tini min khayri alddunya wal-akhirati ma anta ahluhu
give me from the good of this world and the Hereafter

wasrif `anni min sharri alddunya wal-akhirati ma anta ahluhu
in a way that fits You,

wa adhhib `anni hadha alwaja`a
repel from me the evil of this world and the Hereafter

fa'innahu qad ghazani wa ahzanani
in a way that fits You,

ya `aliyyu ya `azimu
and remove from me this pain,

ya rahmanu ya rahimu
for it has enraged and saddened me.

You may pray Almighty Allah so persistently.
Yunus added, “Before I returned to al-Kufah, Almighty Allah has removed from me all the traces of that disease.”
For this disease as well as hemorrhoids, it is reported to write down Surah Yasin with honey in a cup that must be then washed and drunk.
It is also reported to have the soil of Imam al-Husayn’s tomb after being kneaded with rainwater.
It is also reported to overlay the ailed organ with henna and hair-removing powder for those suffering from mange, furuncle, and herpes. For the same diseases, it is reported to recite, write down, and hang on the diseased person the following holy verses and supplicatory statement:
bismillahi alrrahman alrrahimi
“In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

wa mathalu kalimatin khabithatin
And the parable of an evil word

kashajaratin khabithatin
is as an evil tree

ijtuththat min fawqi al-ardi
pulled up from the earth's surface;

ma laha min qararin
it has no stability.”

minha khalaqnakum
“From it, We created you

wa fiha nu`idukum
and into it, We shall send you back,

wa minha nukhrijukum taratan ukhra
and from it, will We raise you a second time.”

allahu akbaru wa anta la tukabbiru
Allah is the Most Great, but you do not glorify His greatness.

allahu yabqa wa anta la tabqa
Allah shall remain forever, but you do not remain forever.

wallahu `ala kulli shay'in qadirun
Allah has power over all things.

Thirtyfirst Private Parts Pains
One of the companions of the Holy Imams (`a) is reported to have uncovered his private parts in a situation where it is improper to uncover one’s private parts; he was therefore affected by an ailment at that place. When he complained about this to Imam al-Sadiq (`a), he was taught to do this supplicatory amulet:
Put your left hand on the ailed part and repeat the following supplicatory prayer three times. If you do, you will be restored to health, Allah willing:
bismillahi wa billahi
In the Name of Allah (I begin) and in Allah (I trust).

bala man aslama wajhahu lillahi wa huwa muhsinun
“Yes! Whoever submits himself entirely to Allah and he is the doer of good (to others),

falahu ajruhu `inda rabbihi
he has his reward from his Lord,

and there is no fear for him nor shall he grieve.”

allahumma inni aslamtu wajhi ilayka
O Allah, I have submitted myself to You

wa fawwadtu amri ilayka
and entrusted my affair to You.

There is neither shelter nor refuge against You except with You.

Thirty two:Knee Pains
Quoted from the book of Tibb al-A'immah (Medicine of the Imams), Jabir al-Ju`fi reported Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (`a) as saying:
I was present with al-Husayn ibn `Ali (`a) when a man from the descendants of Umayyah, yet he was loyalist to us, came to him and said, “O son of Allah’s Messenger, I could hardly come to you walking because of a pain from which I am suffering in my leg.”
The Imam (`a) asked, “How are you turned back from the supplicatory amulet of al-Hasan ibn `Ali (`a)?”
“What is that, son of Allah’s Messenger?” asked the man.
The Imam (`a) explained, “You may recite the first seven verses of Surah al-Fath.”
Afterwards, the man said, “As I had carried out this direction, I felt no pain at all.”
It is also reported that one who suffers from knee pains may say the following supplicatory prayer after the ritual prayers:
ya ajwada man a`ta
O most magnanimous of all those who may donate!

ya khayra man su'ila
O best of all those who may be besought!

wa ya arhama man isturhima
O most merciful of all those whose mercy is asked!

irham da`fi wa qillata hilati
(Please) have mercy upon my weakness and my confusion

wa a`fini min waja`i
and release me from my pain.

For those suffering from pains in the legs, it is reportedly recommended to recite the following holy verse seven times over the legs:
watlu ma uhiya ilayka min kitabi rabbika
“And recite what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord.

la mubaddila likalimatihi
There is none who can alter His words

wa lan tajida min dunihi multahadan
and you shall not find any refuge besides Him.”

Thirty three: Eye Aches
For those suffering from eye aches, many traditions have recommended saying the following prayer after the ritual obligatory prayers of dawn (subh) and sunset (maghrib):
allahumma inni as'aluka bihaqqi muhammadin wa ali muhammadin `alayka
O Allah, I beseech You in the name of the right of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad that is incumbent upon You

an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
to bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

wa an taj`ala alnnura fi basari
and to place light in my sight,

walbasirata fi dini
insight in my faith,

walyaqina fi qalbi
certitude in my heart,

wal-ikhlasa fi `amali
sincerity in my deeds,

walssalamata fi nafsi
safety in my self,

walssa`ata fi rizqi
opulence in my sustenance,

walshshukra laka abadan ma abqaytani
and thanks for You forever as long as You keep me alive.

Al-Bizanti reported Yunus ibn ²abyan to have said: One day, we visited Imam al-Sadiq (`a) and found him tensely sore-eyed; therefore, we were depressed. The next morning, we visited him while he was completely healed. Surprised by this, we asked him, “May Allah accept us as ransoms for you! Have you treated your eyes with a certain medicine?” The Imam answered, “Yes, I have. I have treated them with the best of all medicines.” “What is that?” we asked. The Imam (`a) answered, “It is a supplicatory amulet.” We therefore wrote down that supplicatory amulet, which is as follows:
a`udhu bi`izzati allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s almightiness,

wa a`udhu biquwwati allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s all-powerfulness,

wa a`udhu biqudrati allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s omnipotence,

wa a`udhu binuri allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s light,

wa a`udhu bi`azamati allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s grandeur,

wa a`udhu bijalali allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s majesty,

wa a`udhu bijamali allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s beauty,

wa a`udhu bibaha'i allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s splendor,

wa a`udhu bijam`i allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s wholeness,

wa a`udhu bi`afwi allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s pardon,

wa a`udhu bighufrani allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s forgiveness,

wa a`udhu birasuli allahi
I pray the protection of Allah’s Messenger

wa a`udhu bil-a'immati
I pray the protection of the Imams:

against the evil of what I am feeling.

allahumma rabba almuti`ina
O Allah! O Lord of the obedient!

When we asked the Imam (`a) about the meaning of jam` allah, he said, “It means the wholeness of Allah.” It is also reported that one who suffers from eye pains may recite Ayah al-Kursi and believe in his inner self that the reciting of this holy verse will cure him of that pain. Before reciting this holy verse, one suffering from eye pains is advised to put his hand on his eye and say the following:
u`idhu nura basari
For the light of my sight, I pray

binuri allahi alladhi la yutfa'u
the protection of Allah’s light that is inextinguishable.

A Supplicatory Amulet against Nyctalopia
For those who suffer from nyctalopia (i.e. reduction or loss of vision in dim light), they are recommended to write down ªyah al-Nur several times (on a sheet of paper) in a cup, wash it, put it in a flask, and use it as eye ointment.Ayah al-Nur is the following:
allahu nuru alssamawati wa(a)l-ardi
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.

mathalu nurihi kamishkatin fiha misbahun
The similitude of His light is as a niche wherein a lamp is.

al-misbahu fi zujajatin
The lamp is in a glass.

alzzujajatu ka'annaha kawkabun durriyyun
The glass is as it were a shining star.

yuqadu min shajaratin mubarakatin zaytuniatin
(This lamp is) kindled from a blessed tree, an olive

la sharqiyyatin wa la gharbiyyatin
neither of the east nor of the west,

yakadu zaytuha yudi'u
whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself)
