O Allah: I begin the glorification of You with praising You:

allahumma inne aftatihuth-thana`a bihamdik

اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أَفْتَتِحُ الثَّنَاءَ بِحَمْدِكَ

And You always guide us to the right out of Your favoring upon us.

wa anta musaddidun lis-sawabi bimannik

وَأَنْتَ مُسَدِّدٌ لِلصَّوَابِ بِمَنِّكَ،

And I am certain that You are the most Merciful of all those who show mercy in situations of pardon and mercy

wa ayqantu annaka anta arhamur-rahimena fe maqdhi’il-‘afwi war-rahmah

وَأَيْقَنْتُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ فِي مَوْضِعِ الْعَفْوِ وَالرَّحْمَةِ،

But You are the very exacting in situations of giving exemplary punishment and chastisement (to the wrongdoers),

wa ashaddul-mu’aqibena fe mawdhi’in-nakali wan-naqimah

وَأَشَدُّ الْمُعَاقِبِينَ فِي مَوْضِعِ النَّكَالِ وَالنِّقِمَةِ،

And You are the greatest Omnipotent in the domain of absolute power and might.

wa a’¨amul-mutajabbirena fe mawdhi’il-kibriya`i wal-‘a¨amah

وَأَعْظَمُ الْمُتَجَبِّرِينَ فِي مَوْضِعِ الْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَالْعَظَمَةِ.

O Allah: You have permitted me to pray and beseech You.

allahumma adhinta le fe du’a`ika wamas`alatik

اللّهُمَّ أَذِنْتَ لِي فِي دُعَائِكَ وَمَسْأَلَتِكَ،

So, listen, O the All-hearer, to my words of praise,

fasma’ ya same’u mid-hate

فَاسْمَعْ يَا سَمِيعُ مِدْحَتِي،

And please reply my prayer; O the All-merciful.

wa ajib ya rahemu da’wate

وَأَجِبْ يَا رَحِيمُ دَعْوَتِي،

And please overlook my slips; O the Oft-Forgiving.

wa aqil ya ghafuru ‘athrate

وَأَقِلْ يَا غَفُورُ عَثْرَتِي،

You, O my God, have relieved so many of my griefs,

fakam ya ilahe min kurbatin qad farrajtaha

فَكَمْ يَا إلهِي مِنْ كُرْبَةٍ قَدْ فَرَّجْتَهَا،

And You have dispelled so many of my sorrows

wahumumin qad kashaftaha

وَهُمُومٍ قَدْ كَشَفْتَهَا،

And You have overlooked so many of my slips,

wa ‘athratin qad aqaltaha

وَعَثْرَةٍ قَدْ أَقَلْتَهَا،

And You have spread over me many of Your mercies

warahmatin qad nashartaha

وَرَحْمَةٍ قَدْ نَشَرْتَهَا،

And You have unlocked so many of rings of misfortunes (in which I was detained).

wahalaqati bala`in qad fakaktaha

وَحَلْقَةِ بَلاءٍ قَدْ فَكَكْتَهَا؟

All praise be to Allah Who has not betaken wife or son,

al-hamdu lilllahil-ladhe lam yattakhidh sahibatan wa la walada

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ صَاحِبَةً وَلا وَلَداً

And Who has no partner in the sovereignty,

walam yakun lahu sharekun fil-mulk

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ

nor has He any protecting friend through dependence. And Magnify Him with all magnificence.

walam yakun lahu waliyyun minadh-dhulli wakabbirhu takbera

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّلِّ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيراً.

All praise be to Allah with full gratitude for all His bounties.

al-hamdu lillahi bijame’i mahamidihe kulliha ‘ala jame’i ni’amihe kulliha

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ بِجَمِيعِ مَحَامِدِهِ كُلِّهَا، عَلَى جَمِيعِ نِعَمِهِ كُلِّهَا.

All praise be to Allah Who has no opposition in His rule,

al-hamdu lilllahil-ladhe la mudhadda lahu fe mulkih

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي لا مُضَادَّ لَهُ فِي مُلْكِهِ،

nor there is any challenge to His commands.

wala munazi’a lahu fe amrih

وَلا مُنَازِعَ لَهُ فِي أَمْرِهِ.

All praise be to Allah Who has no counsel to meddle with His operation of creation,

al-hamdu lilllahil-ladhe la shareka lahu fe khalqih

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ فِي خَلْقِهِ،

nor there is anything similar to Him in His greatness.

wala shabeha lahu fe ‘a¨amatihe

وَلا شَبِيهَ لَهُ فِي عَظَمَتِهِ.

All praise be to Allah Whose commandments are active in the creation and the praising of Whom is incumbent.

al-hamdu lillahil-fashe fil-khalqi amruhu wahamduh

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الْفَاشِي فِي الْخَلْقِ أَمْرُهُ وَحَمْدُهُ،

His glory is evident through His kindness,

a¨-¨ahiri bil-karami maj-duh

الظَّاهِرِ بِالْكَرَمِ مَجْدُهُ،

His distinct overflowing generosity is freely available,

al-basiti bil-judi yadah

الْبَاسِطِ بِالْجُودِ يَدَهُ،

His unlimited bestowals do not exhaust,

alladhe la tanqusu khaza`inuh

الَّذِي لا تَنْقُصُ خَزَائِنُهُ،

and He does not swell the numerous benefits except because of generosity and kindness.

wala tazeduhu kathratul-‘ata`i illa judan wakarama

وَلا تَزِيدُهُ كَثْرَةُ الْعَطَاءِ إلاَّ جُوداً وَكَرَماً

Verily He is Mighty, Generous.

innahu huwal-‘azezul-wahhab

إنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْوَهَّابُ.

O Allah, I ask for some from much,

allahumma inne as`aluka qalelan min kather

اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ قَلِيلاً مِنْ كَثِيرٍ،

in the midst of my many needs for which I entirely depend on You,

ma’a hajatin be ilayhi ‘a¨emah

مَعَ حَاجَةٍ بِي إلَيْهِ عَظِيمَةٍ

and You since eternity, are able to do without them, but for me it is a titanic effort

waghinaka ‘anhu qademun wahuwa ‘inde kather

وَغِنَاكَ عَنْهُ قَدِيمٌ وَهُوَ عِنْدِي كَثِيرٌ،

and for You it is very easy and simple.

wahuwa ‘alayka sahlun yaser

وَهُوَ عَلَيْكَ سَهْلٌ يَسِيرٌ.

O Allah, truly, as You pardon my sins,

allahumma inna ‘afwaka ‘an dhanbe

اللّهُمَّ إنَّ عَفْوَكَ عَنْ ذَنْبِي،

And You overlook my mistakes;

watajawuzaka ‘an khate`ate

وَتَجَاوُزَكَ عَنْ خَطِيئَتِي،

And You take a lenient view of my disorderly conduct,

wasafhaka ‘an ¨ulme

وَصَفْحَكَ عَنْ ظُلْمِي،

And You cover up my foul actions,

wasitraka ‘ala qabehi ‘amale

وَسِتْرَكَ عَلَى قَبِيحِ عَمَلِي،

And You show consideration in spite of my many transgressions committed willfully or negligently,

wahilmaka ‘an katheri jurme ‘ind ma kana min khata`e wa ‘amde

وَحِلْمَكَ عَنْ كَثِيرِ جُرْمِي عِنْدَ مَا كَانَ مِنْ خَطَإي وَعَمْدِي

All that tempted me to ask for that which I do not deserve, from You, on account of Your mercy, that You may give me the daily bread;

atma’ane fe an as`alaka ma la astawjibuhu minkal-ladhe razaqtane min rahmatik

 أَطْمَعَنِي فِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ مَا لا أَسْتَوْجِبُهُ مِنْكَ الَّذِي رَزَقْتَنِي مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ،

And You may provide with that which is suitable for me, through Your control;

wa araytane min qudratik

وَأَرَيْتَنِي مِنْ قُدْرَتِكَ،

And You may distinguish me with favorable reply to my requests.

wa ‘arraftane min ijabatik

وَعَرَّفْتَنِي مِنْ إجَابَتِكَ،

So, I persist in calling out, believing in You,

fasirtun ad-‘uka aminan

فَصِرْتُ أَدْعُوكَ آمِناً،

and I invoke You, talking familiarly, not afraid, nor shy,

wa as`aluka musta`nisan la kha`ifan wala wajila

وَأَسْأَلُكَ مُسْتَأْنِساً لا خَائِفاً وَلا وَجِلاً،

but assured of Your love and kindness whenever I turn to You.

mudillan ‘alayka fe ma qadhadtu fehi ilayk

مُدِلاً عَلَيْكَ فِيمَا قَصَدْتُ فِيهِ إلَيْكَ،

A temporary setback and I, out of ignorance, begin to despair,

fa`in abta`a ‘anne ‘atabtu bijahle ‘alayk

فَإنْ أَبْطَأ عَنِّي عَتَبْتُ بِجَهْلِي عَلَيْكَ،

although perhaps slowing down may be a blessing in disguise, because You alone knows (all) the consequences.

wala’allal-ladhe abta`a ‘anne huwa khayrun le li-‘ilmika bi-‘aqibatil umur

وَلَعَلَّ الَّذِي أَبْطَأَ عَنِّي هُوَ خَيْرٌ لِي لِعِلْمِكَ بِعَاقِبَةِ الأُمُورِ،

I do not know a generous Master who is more accommodating to the dissatisfied servants than You are to me.

falam ara mawlan kareman asbara ‘ala ‘abdin la`emin minka ‘alayya ya rabb

فَلَمْ أَرَ مَوْلَىً كَرِيماً أَصْبَرَ عَلَى عَبْدٍ لَئِيمٍ مِنْكَ عَلَيَّ،

O Lord! You give an invitation but I turn down,

innaka tad-‘une fa-uwalliya ‘ank

يَارَبِّ، إنَّكَ تَدْعُونِي فَأُوَلِّي عَنْكَ،

And You become familiar with me but I do not care for You,

watatahabbabu ilayya fa-atabaghghadhu ilayk

وَتَتَحَبَّبُ إلَيَّ فأَتَبَغَّضُ إلَيْكَ،

And You show affection to me but I do not correspond to You

watatawaddadu ilayya fala aqbalu mink

وَتَتَوَدَّدُ إلَيَّ فَلا أَقْبَلُ مِنْكَ

as if  You are overreaching me!

ka`anna liyat-tatawwula ‘alayk

كَأَنَّ لِيَ التَّطَوُّلَ عَلَيْكَ،

Yet You do not abstain from having mercy upon me and doing favors to me

falam yamna’ka dhalika minar-rahmati le wal-ihsani ilayy

فَلَمْ يَمْنَعْكَ ذلِكَ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ لِي وَالإحْسَانِ إلَيَّ،

and blessing me out of Your magnanimity and generosity,

wat-tafadhdhuli ‘alayya bijudika wakaramik

وَالتَّفَضُّلِ عَلَيَّ بِجُودِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ،

So, (please) have mercy on Your ignorant servant and bestow upon him with the favors of Your beneficence

farham ‘abdakal-jahila wajud ‘alayhi bifadhli ihsanik

فَارْحَمْ عَبْدَكَ الْجَاهِلَ وَجُدْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَضْلِ إحْسَانِكَ

Verily, You are Generous and Kind.

innaka jawadun karem

 إنَّكَ جَوَادٌ كَرِيمٌ.

All praise be to Allah: the owner of the sovereignty,

al-hamdu lillahi malikil-mulk

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ مَالِكِ الْمُلْكِ،

Who sets the course of skies and the stars,

mujril-fulk

مُجْرِي الْفُلْكِ،

Who controls the winds,

musakhkhirir-riyah

مُسَخِّرِ الرِّيَاحِ،

Who causes the day break,

faliqil-isbah

فَالِقِ الإصْبَاحِ،

and Who administers the authority:

dayyanid-den

دَيَّانِ الدِّينِ،

the Lord of the worlds.

rabbil-‘alamen

رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ.

All praise be to Allah for His indulgence although He has full acquaintance with all things.

al-hamdu lillahi ‘ala hilmihe ba’da ‘ilmih

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ عَلَى حِلْمِهِ بَعْدَ عِلْمِهِ،

All praise be to Allah for His amnesty although He has full power over all things.

wal-hamdu lillahi ‘ala ‘afwihe ba’da qudratih

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ عَلَى عَفْوِهِ بَعْدَ قُدْرَتِهِ،

All praise be to Allah for the respite that He allows inspite of provocation.

wal-hamdu lillahi ‘ala tuli anatihe fe ghadhabih

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ عَلَى طُولِ أَنَاتِهِ فِي غَضَبِهِ

He is able to do whatever He wills.

wahuwa qadirn ‘ala ma yured

وَهُوَ قَادِرٌ عَلَى مَا يُرِيدُ.

All praise be to Allah, the Creator of all the created beings,

al-hamdu lillahi khaliqil-khalq

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ خَالِقِ الْخَلْقِ،

Who makes the sustenance freely available,

basitir-rizq

بَاسِطِ الرِّزْقِ،

Who starts the day,

faliqil-isbah

فَالِقِ الإصْبَاحِ،

Who is the Owner of glory, might, favours, and bounties,

dhil-jalali wal-ikrami wal-fadhli wal-in’am

ذِي الْجَلالِ وَالإكْرَامِ وَالْفَضْلِ وَالإنْعَامِ

And Who is so far away that none can ever see Him,

alladhe ba’uda fala yura

الَّذِي بَعُدَ فَلا يُرَى،

And, in the same time, He is so near that He is fully aware of even the whispering secrets.

waqaruba fashahidan-najwa

وَقَرُبَ فَشَهِدَ النَّجْوَى،

Blessed and Exalted be He.

tabaraka wata’ala

تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى.

All praise be to Allah Who has no equal to challenge Him,

al-hamdu lillahil-ladhe laysa lahu munazi’un yu’adiluh

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ مُنَازِعٌ يُعَادِلُهُ،

nor is there an image comparable to Him,

wala shabehun yushakiluh

وَلا شَبِيهٌ يُشَاكِلُهُ،

nor is there a helper to assist Him.

wala ¨aherun yu’adhiduh

وَلا ظَهِيرٌ يُعَاضِدُهُ،

He tames the powerful by (His) force,

qahara bi’izzatihil-a’izza`

قَهَرَ بِعِزَّتِهِ الأَعِزَّاءَ،

and disgraced are the great ones before His Greatness,

watawadha’a li-‘a¨amatihil-‘u¨ama`

وَتَوَاضَعَ لِعَظَمَتِهِ الْعُظَمَاءُ،

so He, through His power, fulfills that which He wills.

fabalagha biqudratihe ma yasha`

فَبَلَغَ بِقُدْرَتِهِ مَا يَشَاءُ.

All praise be to Allah Who gives answer to me whenever I call Him;

al-hamdu lillahil-ladhe yujebune hena unadeh

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي يُجِيبُنِي حِينَ أُنَادِيهِ،

And He covers up my shortcomings, yet I disobey Him;

wayasturu ‘alayya kulla ‘awratin wa-ana a’seh

وَيَسْتُرُ عَلَيَّ كُلَّ عَوْرَةٍ وَأَنَا أَعْصِيهِ،

And He gives me the largest part of the bounties, yet I do not show his gratitude.

wayu’a¨¨imun-ni’mata ‘alayya fala ujazeh

وَيُعَظِّمُ النِّعْمَةَ عَلَيَّ فَلا أُجَازِيهِ،

Many a auspicious favors had He given me;

fakam min mawhibatin hane`atin qad a’tane

فَكَمْ مِنْ مَوْهِبَةٍ هَنِيئَةٍ قَدْ أَعْطَانِي،

And many a terrible dangers had He turned off,

wa’a¨ematin makhufatin qad kafane

وَعَظِيمَةٍ مَخُوفَةٍ قَدْ كَفَانِي،

And many a blossoming joys had He made available for me,

wabahjatin muniqatin qad arane

وَبَهْجَةٍ مُونِقَةٍ قَدْ أَرَانِي؟

Therefore, I sing His praises and recite His glorifications.

fa-uthne ‘alayhi hamida

فَأُثْنِي عَلَيْهِ حَامِداً،

And mention Him with exaltation.

wa-adhkuruhu musabbiha

وَأَذْكُرُهُ مُسَبِّحاً.

All praise be to Allah Whose screen cannot be penetrated

al-hamdu lillahil-ladhe la yuhtaku hijabuh

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي لا يُهْتَكُ حِجَابُهُ،

And Whose door is not blocked;

wala yughlaqu babuh

وَلا يُغْلَقُ بَابُهُ،

And Whose beseecher is not rejected;

wala yuraddu sa`ilhu

وَلا يُرَدُّ سَائِلُهُ،

And one who hopes Him is not disappointed.

wala yukhayyabu amiluh

وَلا يُخَيَّبُ آمِلُهُ.

All praise be to Allah Who secures the frightened ones,

al-hamdu lillahil-ladhe yu`minul-kha`ifen

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي يُؤْمِنُ الْخَائِفِينَ،

Who comes to the help of the upright ones,

wayunajjis-salihen

وَيُنَجِّي الصَّالِحِينَ،

Who promotes the cause of the weak ones,

wayarfa’ul-mustadh-‘afen

وَيَرْفَعُ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ،

annihilates the autocrats,

wayadha’ul-mustakbiren

وَيَضَعُ الْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ،

Who destroys rulers and appoints others instead.

wayuhliku mulukan wayastakhlifu akharen

وَيُهْلِكُ مُلُوكاً وَيَسْتَخْلِفُ آخَرِينَ؛

All praise be to Allah; the Eradicator of the tyrants,

wal-hamdu lillahi qasimil-jabbaren

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ قَاصِمِ الْجَبَّارِينَ،

The Terminator of the unjust ones,

muberi¨-¨alimen

مُبِيرِ الظَّالِمِينَ،

The Catcher of the fugitives,

mudrikil-hariben

مُدْرِكِ الْهَارِبِينَ،

The Punisher of the unjust ones,

nakali¨-¨alimen

نَكَالِ الظَّالِمِينَ،

The aide of the seekers of aid,

sarekhil-mustasrikhen

صَرِيخِ الْمُسْتَصْرِخِينَ،

The Settler of the needs of the beseechers,

mawdhi’i hajatit-taliben

مَوْضِعِ حَاجَاتِ الطَّالِبِينَ،

And the support of the the faithful believers.

mu’tamadil-mu`minen

مُعْتَمَدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ.

All praise be to Allah! In His awe-inspiring fear the heavens and its dwellers tremble and shiver,

al-hamdu lillahil-ladhe min khashyatihe tar-‘udus-sama`u wasukkanuha

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي مِنْ خَشْيَتِهِ تَرْعُدُ السَّمَاءُ وَسُكَّانُهَا،

And the earth and its inhabitants shake and quiver,

watarjuful-ardhu wa-‘ummaruha

وَتَرْجُفُ الأَرْضُ وَعُمَّارُهَا،

And the oceans and all that which float and swim in their waters flow together in excitement and tumult.

watamujul-biharu waman yasbahu fe ghamaratiha

وَتَمُوجُ الْبِحَارُ وَمَنْ يَسْبَحُ فِي غَمَرَاتِهَا،

All praise be to Allah Who has guided us to this. We could not truly have been led aright if Allah had not guided us.

al-hamdu lillahil-ladhe hadana lihadha wama kunna linahtadiya lawla an hadanal-lah

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا لِهذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِيَ لَوْلا أَنْ هَدَانَا اللّهُ.

All praise be to Allah Who creates but He is not created;

al-hamdu lillahil-ladhe yakhluqu walam yukhlaq

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي يَخْلُقُ وَلَمْ يُخْلَقْ،

And He gives subsistence but He needs no provisions;

wayarzuqu wala yurzaq

وَيَرْزُقُ وَلا يُرْزَقُ،

And He gives food to eat but He takes no nourishment,

wayut-‘imu wala yut-‘am

وَيُطْعِمُ وَلا يُطْعَمُ،

And He makes the living dead

wayumetul-ahya`

وَيُمِيتُ الأَحْيَاءَ،

And He brings the dead to life,

wayuhyil-mawta

وَيُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى،

But He is the Everliving, there is no death for Him,

wahuwa hayyun la yamut

وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لا يَمُوتُ،

in His hands is all the good,

biyadihil-khayr

بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ،

and He is able to do all things.

wahuwa ‘ala kulli shay`in qader

وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ.

O Allah: (please do) send blessings on Muhammad, Your servant and Messenger,

allahumma salli ‘ala muhammadin ‘abdika warasulik

اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسُولِكَ

And Your confidant, friend, and beloved intimate,

wa-amenika wasafiyyika wahabebik

وَأَمِينِكَ وَصَفِيِّكَ وَحَبِيبِكَ

And the choicest of Your created beings,

wakhiyaratika min khalqik

وَخِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ،

And the bearer of Your sacraments,

wahafi¨i sirrik

وَحَافِظِ سِرِّكَ،

And the quotient of Your Messengers,

wamuballighi risalatik

وَمُبَلِّغِ رِسَالاتِكَ

With the most superior, the most exquisite, the most handsomer,

afdhala wa-ahsana wa-ajmal

أَفْضَلَ وَأَحْسَنَ وَأَجْمَلَ

the most perfect, the most upright, the most prospering,

wa-akmala wa-azka wa-anma

وَأَكْمَلَ وَأَزْكَى وَأَنْمَى

the most pleasant, the most thoroughly purified, the most sublime;

wa-atyaba wa-athara wa-asna

وَأَطْيَبَ وَأَطْهَرَ وَأَسْنَى

The most and the best blessings, advantages,

wa-akthara ma sallayta wabarakta

وَأَكْثَرَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ وَبَارَكْتَ

mercies, affections

watarahhamta watahannanta

وَتَرَحَّمْتَ وَتَحَنَّنْتَ

And salutations that You have ever made available to anyone of Your servants and Prophets,

wasallamta ‘ala ahadin min ‘ibadika wa-anbiya`ik

وَسَلَّمْتَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ وَأَنْبِيَائِكَ

And Messengers and choicest people and those honored by You from among Your created beings.

warusulika wasafwatika wa-ahlil-karamati ‘alayka min khalqik

وَرُسُلِكَ وَصِفْوَتِكَ وَأَهْلِ الْكَرَامَةِ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ.

O Allah: (please do) send blessings on `Ale, the Commander of the Believers,

allahumma wasalli ‘ala ‘aliyyin ameril-mu`minen

اللّهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ،

And the successor of the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds:

wawasiyyi rasuli rabbil-‘alamen

وَوَصِيِّ رَسُولِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ،

Your servant, Your beloved representative, and the brother of Your Messenger,

‘abdika wawaliyyika wa-akhe rasulik

عَبْدِكَ وَوَلِيِّكَ وَأَخِي رَسُولِكَ

and Your decisive argument over the mankind,

wahujjatika ‘ala khalqik

وَحُجَّتِكَ عَلَى خَلْقِكَ،

And Your most important sign,

wa-ayatikal-kubra

وَآيَتِكَ الْكُبْرَى،

And the great news (from You).

wan-naba`il-‘a¨em

وَالنَّبَأَ الْعَظِيمِ،

And (please do) send blessings on the truthful, pure Lady,

wasalli ‘alas-siddeqatit-tahirah

وَصَلِّ عَلَى الصِّدِّيقَةِ الطَّاهِرَةِ

Fatimah: the Doyenne of the women of the world.

fatimata sayyidati nisa`il-‘alamen

فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ،

And (please do) send blessings on the sons of ‘the mercy to the worlds’

wasalli ‘ala sibtayir-rahmah

وَصَلِّ عَلَى سِبْطَيِ الرَّحْمَةِ،

And the two leaders of true guidance,

wa-imamayil-huda

وَإمَامَيِ الْهُدَى

Al-°asan and al-°usayn,

al-hasani wal-husayn

الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ

the two Chiefs of the dwellers of Paradise.

sayyiday shababi ahlil-jannah

سَيِّدَيْ شَبَابِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ،

And (please do) send blessings on the leaders of the Muslims,

wasalli ‘ala a`immatil-muslimen

وَصَلِّ عَلَى أَئِمَّةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ:

`Ale bin al-°usayn,

‘aliyyibnil-husayn

عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ،

Muhammad bin `Ale,

wamuhammadibni ‘aliyy

وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ،

Ja`far bin Muhammad,

waja’faribni muhammad

وَجَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ،

Musa bin Ja`far,

wamusabni ja’far

وَمُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ،

`Ale bin Musa,

wa’aliyyibni musa

وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوسَى،

Muhammad bin `Ale,

wamuhammadibni ‘aliyy

وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ،

`Ale bin Muhammad,

wa ‘aliyyibni muhammad

وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ،

Al-°asan bin `Ale,

wal-hasanibni ‘aliyy

وَالْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ،

and the successor, the guide, and the rightly guided

wal-khalafil-hadil-mahdiyy

وَالْخَلَفِ الْهَادِي الْمَهْدِيِّ،

(Those Imams are) Your decisive arguments over Your servants,

hujajika ‘ala ‘ibadik

حُجَجِكَ عَلَى عِبَادِكَ،

Your trustworthy confidants in Your lands—

wa-umana`ika fe biladik

وَأُمَنَائِكَ فِي بِلادِكَ

Blessings that are numerous and non-stop.

salatan katheratan da`imah

صَلاةً كَثِيرَةً دَائِمَةً.

O Allah: (please do) send blessings on the custodian of Your commandments,

allahumma wasalli ‘ala waliyyi amrik

اللّهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلَى وَليِّ أَمْرِكَ

The vigilant guardian, the reliable patron,

al-qa`imil-mu`ammal

الْقَائِمِ الْمُؤَمَّلِ،

And the awaited justice.

wal’adlil-munta¨ar

وَالْعَدْلِ الْمُنْتَظَرِ،

And (please) surround him with Your favorite Angels,

wahuffahu bimala`ikatikal-muqarraben

وَحُفَّهُ بِمَلائِكَتِكَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ،

And assist him with the Holy Spirit.

wa-ayyid-hu biruhil-qudus

وَأَيِّدْهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ

O the Lord of the worlds.

ya rabbal-‘alamen

يَارَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ.

O Allah: (please) choose him to be the caller to Your Book and the for establisher of Your religion,

allahummaj-‘alhud-da’iya ila kitabik wal-qa`ima bidenik

اللّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ الدَّاعِيَ إلَى كِتَابِكَ، وَالْقَائِمَ بِدِينِكَ،

and make him succeed in the earth as You caused those who were before him to succeed,

istakhlifhu fil-ardhi kamas-takhlaftal-ladhena min qablih

اسْتَخْلِفْهُ فِي الأَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفْتَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ،

and establish for him his faith which You have approved for him

makkin lahu denahul-ladhir-tadhaytahu lah

مَكِّنْ لَهُ دِينَهُ الَّذِي ارْتَضَيْتَهُ لَهُ،

And give him in exchange safety after the fear.

abdilhu min ba’di khawfihe amna

أَبْدِلْهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِ أَمْناً

He serves You. He ascribes nothing as partner to You.

ya’buduka ya yushriku bika shay`a

يَعْبُدُكَ لا يُشْرِكُ بِكَ شَيْئاً.

O Allah:  (please) give him power and authority, and through him strengthen the people,

allahumma a’ziz-hu wa a’ziz bih

اللّهُمَّ أَعِزَّهُ وَأَعْزِزْ بِهِ،

And give him the necessary assistance, and through him support the people,

wansurhu wantasir bih

وَانْصُرْهُ وَانْتَصِرْ بِهِ،

And help him with a mighty help

wansurhu nasran ‘azeza

وَانْصُرْهُ نَصْراً عَزِيزاً،

And make him prevail over all with easiness

waftah lahu fat-han yasera

وَافْتَحْ لَهُ فَتْحاً يَسِيراً،

And delegate him Your controlling authority.

waj-‘al lahu min ladunka sultanan nasera

وَاجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ لَدُنْكَ سُلْطَاناً نَصِيراً.

O Allah: (please) give currency to Your religion and to Your Prophet’s traditions through him

allahumma a¨-hir bihe denaka wasunnata nabiyyik

اللّهُمَّ أَظْهِرْ بِهِ دِينَكَ وَسُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكَ

So that nothing which is just and genuine is kept concealed from anyone of the human beings.

hatta la yastakhfe bishay`in minal-haqqi makhafata ahadin minal-khalq

حَتَّى لا يَسْتَخْفِيَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الْحَقِّ مَخَافَةَ أَحَدٍ مِنَ الْخَلْقِ.

O Allah: we ardently desire that You confer upon us a respectful government

allahumma inna narghabu ilayka fe dawlatin karemah

اللّهُمَّ إنَّا نَرْغَبُ إلَيْكَ فِي دَوْلَةٍ كَرِيمَةٍ

Through which You may reactivate Islam and stimulate its followers,

tu’izzu bihal-islama wa-ahlah

تُعِزُّ بِهَا الإسْلامَ وَأَهْلَهُ،

and humble and humiliate the imposters and their double-dealing shams,

watudhillu bihan-nifaqa wa-ahlah

وَتُذِلُّ بِهَا النِّفَاقَ وَأَهْلَهُ،

and include us among those who invite people to the obedience to You and lead them to Your approved path,

wataj-‘aluna feha minad-du’ati ila ta’atika wal-qadati ila sabelik

وَتَجْعَلُنَا فِيهَا مِنَ الدُّعَاةِ إلَى طَاعَتِكَ، وَالْقَادَةِ إلَى سَبِيلِكَ،

and give us the good of this world and the world to  come.

watarzuquna biha karamatad-dunya wal-akhirah

وَتَرْزُقُنَا بِهَا كَرَامَةَ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ.

O Allah: let us bear out and hold up that which You make known to us as the truth,

allahumma ma ‘arraftana minal-haqqi fahammilnah

اللّهُمَّ مَا عَرَّفْتَنَا مِنَ الْحَقِّ فَحَمِّلْنَاهُ،

and let us be fully aware of that which we fall short of doing.

wama qasurna ‘anhu faballighnah

وَمَا قَصُرْنَا عَنْهُ فَبَلِّغْنَاهُ.

O Allah: through him, set in order our disorder;

allahummal-mum bihe sha’athana

اللّهُمَّ الْمُمْ بِه شَعَثَنَا،

gather and unite our flock;

wash-‘ib bihe sad-‘ana

وَاشْعَبْ بِهِ صَدْعَنَا،

stitch together our ripped open separation;

wartuq bihe fatqana

وَارْتُقْ بِهِ فَتْقَنَا،

turn our want and poverty into enough,

wakaththir bihe qillatana

وَكَثِّرْ بِهِ قِلَّتَنَا،

lift us up from our degradation;

wa-a’ziz bihe dhillatana

وَأَعْزِزْ بِهِ ذِلَّتَنَا،

free us from our misery,

wa-aghni bihe ‘a`ilana

وَأَغْنِ بِهِ عَائِلَنَا،

pull us out from our debts,

waqdhi bihe ‘an mughramina

وَاقْضِ بِهِ عَنْ مُغْرَمِنَا،

Set up our poverty

wajbur bihe faqrana

وَاجْبُرْ بِهِ فَقْرَنَا،

fill the gap created by confusion among us;

wasudda bihe khallatana

وَسُدَّ بِهِ خَلَّتَنَا،

let our difficulties be easy to deal with;

wayassir bihe ‘usrana

وَيَسِّرْ بِهِ عُسْرَنَا،

refine our substance and style,

wabayyidh bihe wujuhana

وَبَيِّضْ بِهِ وُجُوهَنَا،

untie our ropes and straps;

wafukka bihe asrana

وَفُكَّ بِهِ أَسْرَنَا،

let our efforts succeed well and secure success;

wa-anjih bihe talibatana

وَأَنْجِحْ بِهِ طَلِبَتَنَا،

make us fulfil our promises;

wa-anjiz bihe mawa’edana

وَأَنْجِزْ بِهِ مَوَاعِيدَنَا،

give answer to our prayers;

wastajib bihe da’watana

وَاسْتَجِبْ بِهِ دَعْوَتَنَا،

listen to our requests;

wa-a’tina bihe su`lana

وَأَعْطِنَا بِهِ سُؤْلَنَا،

cause us to obtain the good of this world and the Hereafter;

waballighna bihe minad-dunya wal-akhirati amalana

وَبَلِّغْنَا بِهِ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ آمَالَنَا،

give us much and more than our expectations

wa-a’tina bihe fawqa raghbatina

وَأَعْطِنَا بِهِ فَوْقَ رَغْبَتِنَا،

O the Best of givers and bestowers;

ya khayral-mas`ulena wa-awsa’al-mu’ten

يَا خَيْرَ الْمَسْؤُولِينَ، وَأَوْسَعَ الْمُعْطِينَ،

and cleanse our hearts,

ishfi bihe sudurana

اشْفِ بِهِ صُدُورَنَا،

unburden our emotions from hate and anger,

wa-adh-hib bihe ghay¨a qulubina

وَأَذْهِبْ بِهِ غَيْظَ قُلُوبِنَا،

and in the event of dispute in the matter of truth show us the right path,

wahdina bihe limakhtulifa fehi minal-haqqi bi-id'nik

وَاهْدِنَا بِهِ لِمَا اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ بِإذْنِكَ،

verily You guides whosoever You wills to the Right Path.

innaka tahde man tasha`u ila siratin mustaqem

إنَّكَ تَهْدِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ إلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ،

Let us, through him, get the better of Your enemies and our opponents,

wansurna bihe ‘ala ‘aduwwina wa ‘aduwwik

وَانْصُرْنَا بِهِ عَلَى عَدُوِّكَ وَعَدُوِّنَا

O the true God: Be it so!

ilahal-haqqi amen

إلهَ الْحَقِّ آمِينَ.

O Allah: we complain to You

allahumma inna nashku ilayka

اللّهُمَّ إنَّا نَشْكُو إلَيْكَ

About the departure of our Prophet —Your blessings be on him and on his Household—

faqda nabiyyin salawatuka ‘alayhi wa-alih

فَقْدَ نَبِيِّنَا صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ،

And about the absence of our leader,

waghaybata waliyyina

وَغَيْبَةَ وَلِيِّنَا،

And about the big numbers of our enemies,

wakathrata ‘aduwwina

وَكَثْرَةَ عَدُوِّنَا،

And about our few number,

waqillata ‘adadina

وَقِلَّةَ عَدَدِنَا،

And about widespread disorder,

washiddatal-fitani bina

وَشِدَّةَ الْفِتَنِ بِنَا،

and about vicissitudes of time against us.

wata¨ahuraz-zamani ‘alayna

وَتَظَاهُرَ الزَّمَانِ عَلَيْنَا،

So, (please do) send blessings on Muhammad and on his Househod 

fasalli ‘ala muhamadin wa alih

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ،

And help us overcome all that through victory from You that You expedite

wa-a’inna ‘ala dhalika bifat-hin minka tu’ajjiluh

وَأَعِنَّا عَلَى ذلِكَ بِفَتْحٍ مِنْكَ تُعَجِّلُهُ،

And through relieving us from our injurites

wabidhurrin takshifuh

وَبِضُرٍّ تَكْشِفُهُ،

And through Your help that You confirm

wanasrin tu’izzuh

وَنَصْرٍ تُعِزُّهُ،

And through bringing in the rule of justice and fairplay,

wasultani haqqin tu¨-hiruh

وَسُلْطَانِ حَقٍّ تُظْهِرُهُ،

And through mercy that You expand over us

warahmatin minka tujallilunaha

وَرَحْمَةٍ مِنْكَ تُجَلِّلُنَاهَا،

And through good health that You cover us with,

wa ‘afiyatin minka tulbisunaha

وَعَافِيَةٍ مِنْكَ تُلْبِسُنَاهَا،

Out of Your mercy, O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

birahmatika ya arhamar-rahimen

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.
